People have to start thinking differently. We have to stop this Democrat/liberal vs Republican/conservative nonsense. I believe that politicians on both sides of the isle want us to be distracted with that mentality, because it keeps us from paying attention to whats really wrong. Changing out a president or party isn't going to fix a thing. It's the system that's broken and needs to be fixed. As long as both candidates & parties are be- holden to big business, it will never change
I totally agree. However, a president cannot accomplish much if he is not recognized by his party as its absolute leader. LBJ had greater success with the congress of his reign. The system to those of the present see the system as broken but in essence the sloth of the government is what the founding fathers wanted. The governments design promotes a slow movement so that it can protect the minority as well as moneyed interest. The government is doing what it is meant to do. Bad for time being!
Okay, but "bad for the time being"? The way I see it, it's bad from now on. Under what circumstances do you see a rever- sal in direction. Also, founding fathers or not, and regardless of party affiliation, be- cause of the money now needed to run, I've seen a greater shift in power towards big business in just the last half dozen or so presidential elections. $100 million to run? It seems to be getting progressively worse. Even adjusted to founding father time $, a 100 mil is obscene
Yes money has a lot to do with the problem. I'm just saying that governmental structure is part of the problem, and even though it is part of the problem it is still working according to the wishes of the founders. This system however, is not affective in a world of American hegemony and globalization. The problems require fast action but we have a slow meditative process.
I think that money (lobbyists/big busi- ess) has everything to do with the prob- lem, and the that founding fathers would be shocked to see how their system is being manipulated and exploited. While our system of government may need ad- justing to fit the new world order, I think that dealing with the corruption in our cur- rent system would go a long way to im- proving things. Again, but who's going to bite the hand that feeds it. Change in our lifetime, I just don't see it.
0:49 Wife...of a secessionist. As a military officer I can say her ideas are poorly thought and dangerous. By the way, the whole second amendment question...this country was founded on courage...the courage to fight. Possession of firearms does not imply courage but just a conscious want. People like Palin are nothing but warheads who put me and others in my position in danger. I am embarrassed to fight for her.
I know many who joined the military dur- ing peacetime, looking for nothing more than a paycheck, benefits, and a way to pay for college. These people did not join the military to defend our country if necessary, they joined for the wrong reasons. Now some complain about having to go and perform the job job that they signed on to do. They wouldn't want to fight in any battle regardless of whether they agreed with this war or not. As I said, they signed on for the wrong reasons.
Those who live by the sword...shall die by the sword. War can be necessary at times but that does not mean war should be the norm. I may disagree with you on policy but defense of our country and military exploitation are totally different things. Those who sign for the wrong reasons or not should in no way be taking a forth or sixth tour which is happening. If we love our soldiers, we should know when to put the sword away. I'm just debating and let us be civil.
My point was this. Politicians are re- sponsible for war, the military is only the instrument of it. Since history has shown that our politicians have start- ed past wars for ill reasons, then why is anyone surprised at this one. Know- ing full well what our politicians are capable of, some still join our military for the wrong reasons, and then are shocked and complain when they're actually called into action. When en- listing in our military, know that your beholden to politicians.
I totally agree. However, if we are entitled to free speech then that must imply that we are entitled to form free opinions which means the right to complain. Every unpopular act of a politician sparks resent from the public. I do believe however that as citizens, we have the power to pressure our politicians more than we do now. I feel as a people we may get distracted by cultural issues rather than finding the best policy for all. I feel we owe that at the least to those who serve.
I agree with all that you said, but unfor- tunetely, I believe that our political sys- tem has dedeteriorated to the point that other than election time, we can apply very little pressure to our poli- ticians. They are now controlled by lobbyists from big business, who imply campaign contributions in lieu of help with fulfiling their agendas. As different as Obama would like to be, he still has to work within a very corrupt system, where the only police are the players themselves.
No one can deny that. Unfortunately the system holds advantages for those who are wealthy and those always defending the "moneyed" and corporate interest. The application to be on a democratic or republican ticket is itself a block on the middle and poor class. Congressional design by nature is to be slow and in favor of these interests. It is not so much corruption but the exploitation of a governmental flaw. Hopefully this will eventually cease though it is unlikely.
Don't forget to applaud her for representing the side that is the breeding ground of domestic terrorists in this country. And for those of you posting in here that are not already members of the military, sign yourselves up ASAP, get your asses over to the Middle East, and pick up a gun. I don't care about your responsibilities because those should be secondary to your true patriotism. Hypocrites. Just stop. You have no idea how foolish you make yourselves look.
OMG...Is that me on the honorable mention list? IT IS! I am very honored. Not as much as Sarah Palin tho. Great tribute to a GREAT PATRIOT....SARAH PALIN!!! Yessss. WoW...I have been offline too long.
So the only way you are able to condemn alleged "hate" about someone you have never met personally is through spewing hate. None of you were able to pick up on this and even gave it 2 thumb ups? Glad I don't see eye-to-eye with you guys.

If McCain is a RINO, what stops his running mate from being one? The apple does not fall far from the tree. Both supported the bailout.
I don't like cults of personality, no matter if it's Obama's or Palin's.

Another problem is, that these days, it
takes roughly a $100 million war chest
to run for president. Both parties are at
the mercy of big business to raise that
kind of capital. As I said before, there is
nothing to gain for the people that could
change this to do so. I don't see a cir-
cumstance happening when it would.
A president can no longer shape the sys-
tem, he just works within it.

Sarah Palin is AWESOME.
She does not flinch when confronted on her Conservative values.
She does not lose control when attacked, even with the most vulgar, inexcusable attacks we've seen.
She is always soft-spoken and lady-like. And yes, I wrote the word "lady." How awfully unPC of me.
She appreciates the members of our armed forces and supports their mission!
She believes in smaller government and sanity in government spending.
She has family values and actually lives by them.
