@IwantmyMTVback Eh, it's really all personal opinion. Really, the main thing that FF7 had was the raw customization concept with Materia. It made it so that you could customize any character you wanted to your liking without being restricted to a "class" system, or restricting yourself to specific characters due to them having the more useful class, like the white mage or black mage. All that with Limit Breaks, mini games, and tons of side-quests, it's no wonder it's a favorite.

Another thing I didn't like was the characters, they were all one dimensional psuedo "deep" Like they were written in a way where they try to suggest deep emotional involvment but they came off instead as rather generic archetypes. The whole plot in general irks me as well. And the lack of freedom of movment, which honestly is the same for every FF game but it's more..

@Mdude123456789 The murder scene is supposed to represent Serge's dark side. Of course, people would probably say it was Lynx, not Serge who killed Kid. But of course, Serge still had the dream. I think it was ambiguous, whether it was Lynx or an evil Serge but I tend to think it was Serge all along. The story is all about self-overcoming and the way it's done is just amazing.
