@TMan481099 ? practice? time? What happened to Heheheh me :)) Okay, I'll wait for you to really get it down so I can watch and listen. Hope you take months rather than years though :-)
In 1966, when Coltrane was in his "avante-garde" phase, he had Sonny Rollins open for one of his concerts. He played a short set and left the stage, promising to be back for the evenings finale. When it was Trane's turn to play he came onstage with Albert Ayler and Pharoah Sanders and they began to play the kind of "screech-honk" music that was typical of free jazz. Half of the audience were driven away by the cacophony of band. Sonny, wanting no part in their music, simply went home.
@Miloshevits Why yes, how dare anybody experiment with a new approach to rhythm and harmony and deviate from playing standard straight-ahead jazz. Surely no form of jazz past bebop is a legitimate art form.
@erasedcitizen77 Indeed, bebop was the "mainstream" form of jazz at the time but the avant-garde movement was very similar to the punk movement in rock. While very few welcomed it those who played it played it with intensity and pride. People who couldn't "get it" just felt alienated by its dissonance. When listening to albums like Coltrane's 'Sun Ship' you have to open your mind and give it all your attention. It isn't simply cocktail music to be played in the background.
sorry for that ! i listen to it ,and it s perfect. i dont kno why it did that that time. i remember listning to it again and again. surely a bug or something. Thank s for posting that wonderfull music. Those cats are giants!

I play the bass and this is one of my favorite songs to improv to. Sonny Rollins is amazing.
