Shawn inspires me to think more about how I can contribute. And his model of charity with dignity is a paradigm I hope will spread through more organizations.
Philanthropy will most definitely start to follow the model that this project has set up. People are starting to realize more and more how there is no "they" to help, only "we".
I would say that you know exactly what your money is going to. Shawn is always forthcoming with every cent that has been given and what it was spent on. It's nice to know that the recipients also know who gave to them. I enjoy seeing them using what we've been able to provide. It really does link us together.
Have you ever donated to an organization that sends you a picture of the individual that you help? How is this connection similar (or different) than the sense of connection that Shawn has created?
I came over from Barry's video also. I learned about the Uncultured Project via the vlogbrothers, and I just love the transparency of it. You know that donating money to UP isn't being filtered through lots of parties or things like that, that he's actually thinking of the best way of helping people with the money.
I found the project over the "project for awesome" day... it is a great project because it is about sth essential... everybody should have access to clean drinking water. After that we can deal with other probs...
I don't think organisations could easily follow this model, but I hope this is the beginning of a new wave of informed individuals doing solo charity work on a more personal basis. =)
well honestly I'd sooner donate to shawn then any charity out there... I like the idea of knowing exactly what my money is buying. o_o

i hope so too! It truly is amazing.
Were you able to come to any neat ideas as to how you can contribute? I'd be interested in hearing if you have!

Haha, that last line could have been taken multiple ways.
Unless that's what you meant. In that case, carry on.
