Wow, that's a far cry from the YTV we have today. Times have changed completely. I still have troubles thinking it's almost been 20 years since Launch. And I never saw the lauch either
Part of the change is because the company that owns YTV went on to launch TreeHouse TV, and moved all of YTV's preschool programming over there instead, freeing up space on the schedule for more teens-and-twenties fare.
And you may remember that there was a big outcry over the channel showing 'Power Rangers', so that show eventually got yanked. Ironically, a couple of years later, no one complained about the even more violent 'Buffy' airing nightly in primetime.
I think there's a lot more commercials on Canadian TV today. In fact, I've seen other channels make edits to their shows just to squeeze in more commercials, including, surprisingly enough, the usually wholesome Vision TV.
In the end, it always comes down to money in Canada, even during a recession.
This YTV thing will never catch on.

it is something cool that in canada there was little commersials. now there is a lot of commersials on the US, unlike canada.
