This UFO business is like "getting to the end of a rainbow, "it's always over the next hill". Except you can not get there because it is an optical illusion!!! Plus there is no leprechaun with a pot of gold, unless he is piloting the UFO that is. LOL.
HEHEHEHE I like it..."Haven't these guys seen a sci fi movie" Yeah we paint a great picture of what "THEY" would do to us if "THEY" arrived. How do we know "THEY'RE" hostile.
From a purely technical aspect the object could be a radar contact outside of visual range or obscured by weather. The issue of a civilian craft is a worrying one. They are probably judging performance of the unknown object and its lack of a transponder to determine that is not a passenger liner; which is still dangerous and silly. I wonder where exactly these incidences have been taking place.
Rundstedt. I wonder where they have taken place as well. I hope it was at sea and they weren't also possible risking civilians on the ground. I wouldn't be very happy if live munitions were used over my head.
I wouldn't doubt that they are unknowingly shooting at US spy planes sent to monitor the UK itself. It has already been admitted that Blair was being spied on under Bush; I wouldn't put it past the military industrial complex and their paranoia here that they would do this. This is funny stuff though, maybe it's been Dr, Who. :)
Kevin you are a fucking moron yourself!!

Surely if you could target a flying object you could identify it. How did they know they weren't shooting at a civilian aircraft?

That's exactly what I was thinking, and even at sea around the heavliy traveled waters around the UK it could mean disaster.
haha - now I can't get the picture of a confused French farmer in Calais standing in front of a smodering sparrow missile sticking out of his field
Sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh at it; people could be hurt, but it does leave itself open it satire.
