  • Love it too

  • Did they in fact write most of their own music? Or were they just great singers. It's certainly more impressive if they did write all the words and music to their songs......

Either they were the best ever.

  • This was Country Music at its finest moment!

  • Ira was a pure genius. He was not only a master of words, but also of melodies. While most writers have just one big hit, the Louvins had song after song like this. And just listen to the Louvins' voices! Surely Heaven sent.

  • I am so surprised to see so many fans of the Louvins still listening and loving their music. My dad played in their stage band for a few years after returning from WWII, as well as some of the others from his Grand Ole Opry Days. I love the songs that I grew up singing with Daddy, but didn't realize most of them were done with the Louvin Brothers. I am collecting their songs for my children and grandchildren that never heard their PawPaw Henry's beautiful mandolin. I will remember forever.

  • @WaliniRose This music is timeless, Hall of Fame material. What was your Dad's name? That's quite a proud heritage!

  • oh wow???? this is awesome :)

  • Louvin brothers were amazing writers and performers~ They were NOT bluegrass, though.

  • Oh these are the Fathers of Cosmic American Music! Gram & Emmylou covered and learned so much from these tunes!

  • I love Helen, Debbie, Bonnie, Britany, Murial , Hazek, my sister Florence, and my friend Florence, just because they could listen to these Louvin gentlemen wether live on tape, gone from this earth forever, but will live forever, with their beloved fans, bye the way, these ladies I have mentioned Love Rickey Skaggs...............jack

  • Greatest Blue Grass Duet of all times.

    Patrick Henry

  • Nothing beats sibling harmony! Louvins, Wilburns, Osborns, Everlys, Delmores...

  • Two Great's gone to their rewards. Their music will live on as long as someone here on Earth can sing. I cringe when some jerk says you can only use accoustic instruments in Bluegrass, you can tell they are not refering to the Louvin's who started most of this, with the amazing Paul Yandell playing beautiful Electric spanish guitar on all their super recordings.............................jack

  • Please let the old days come back

  • i wish i can win your love jeannette from missouri i love you sweety kiss

  • Great harmonies!

  • Sorry to see you go, Charley. But you sure did good, Old Timer.

  • first heard Charlie and Ira in 1959. Ships juke box piped over internal comm. Heard the first few bars of Lorene and I was hooked.

  • Awesome, rest in peace boys

  • not just great harmonies - the songs ira wrote were as numerous as they were fantastic. god only knows how many songs were lost - if charlie had any trouble with a new song, ira would tear it up in a fit of pique and throw it away.

  • July 7, 1927 - January 26, 2011

  • so this is where the Everly brothers got their inspiration...jusy discovered these guys......great!

  • Charlie & Ira are Singing together once again, and forever.

  • the louvin brothers will live on forever.

  • I hope he and Ira are singing their beautiful harmonies in the heaven they sang about. What a legend.

  • I meet Charlie Louvin some 20 years ago, he was a consummate gentleman. He introduced me to Bill Monroe And Skeeter Davis, I was in heaven. Ira and Charlie are now harmonizing again. We will miss you.

  • Rest in Peace, Charlie.

  • we'll miss you

  • Born the same year as my Dad. Their sound harkened back to the old time duet singing, but they moved in such interesting directions .... never sounding forced or contrived. Haha! I'm Louvin' that round hole with F shape in this picture. Best of both worlds if you ask me. I almost bid over a thousand on one last year, but I dropped out and it went well over 2500 anyway.

  • Born the same year as my Dad. Their sound hearkened back to the old time duet singing, but they moved in such interesting directions .... never sounding forced or contrived.

  • RIP Charlie! The end of an era. These guys were amazing!

  • Ira and Charlie were the inspiration behind so many harmony bands past and present. They make it sound effortless and like all great music it will live on.Thanks boys.

  • First time I'm hearing these guys. Anyone who talks about the Everly Bros' influence on the Beatles is remiss if they don't point out the Louvin Bros influence on the Everlys. Beautifully intricate harmonies.

  • I've always loved this song by The Louvin Brothers. Their wonderful harmony is such a treat to listen to. They could always sing love songs, gospel and even novelty songs and make them so enjoyable. They always looked so classy - which goes a long way with me for entertainers. It's great to find so many classics by them on YouTube, some of which I have been hearing for the first time. Thank you for posting this. - Paula

  • yes wonderful. first time i heard this i thought omg, now i see where the everlys got their musical style!

  • Thank you....my dad's cousins...the real name was Loudermilk.

    Charlie still sings. Go figure!

  • @elbiejane -They were one of the greatest harmonising duets, and Ira one of the purest truest tenors in American history, and yes, they were that great !!! Unequalled is what I would call them, and Ira an amazing songwriter, some of which will live forever.

  • Love it! I guess the good old days are gone forever

  • @BBosage
