  • jimmy ellis was used to be ali sparring partner for long time and he though he knew all ali tricks

  • the only reason this went 12 is because ali let it go that long. probably the most lopsided match i've seen with ali, he was never in trouble.

was the referee trying to get ellis killed? wtf was he waiting on?

  • man this video is ameazing wwwwowww....

i adore it....man ali was just playing with other boxer...

muhammad ali the greatest of all time

  • Only Ali could make a world class fighter like Ellis look like a completely helpless noob.

  • @TheBestBoxingGame Ellis was hardly a "world class fighter."

  • thanks for sharing bro.

  • As for the song...I think it's Bobby Womack.

  • @Waszma It is Bobby Womack. The song is "Across 110th Street" (the border between Central Park and Harlem/Morningside Heights).

  • @6ft7inHIBread Thanks, I thought it was. That guy is very under rated. His songs have a real mood and atmosphere to em.

  • Ali was pure class in the ring, whenever he saw opponents had nothing left he would slow down his barrage of punches. Look at the way he just kinda stopped and just waited for the ref to stop the fight. He did the same for Lyle and even Foreman as he was going down. Ali trash talked a lot(to sell the fights) but he always made sure he didn't hurt a fighter whenever he didn't have to.

  • Heres what a prime Ali looks like, and Ellis was a good fighter!

  • THE GRAETESt

  • Who add that dam music

  • Ellis, also from Louisville, was a one-time MW who'd fought Hurricane Carter, and in the 60s was a sparring partner of Ali. He was in England in '63 to help prepare for Cooper. It ceased to be competitive after those rights in the 4th. Ellis said afterward that he'd seen those rights often in sparring and should have been prepared, but the first one just "crept up suckered" him. Actually Ali's the reason he took up boxing: he saw him fight on a local TV show and said, "I can lick that fella."

  • @madmax8903 What did he mean? That Cooper's hook just crept up on Ali? I think so too, Cooper had no answer for Ali after the knockdown, Ali just baffled him in what remained of that fight and continued it in the next.

  • @vladiator100 I'm not talking about Cooper. I'm talking about this fight here.

  • Fucking brilliance

  • Are these the cutting room floor rolls of film excised from the final cut of "Shaft" or does this crazy music have me confused or something?

This isn't a real fight is it?

  • I love the Bobby Womack music lol.

  • This was such a one sided beating!at least Ellis got to make some big money..

  • Uppercut at 3:58 = BRUTAL

  • Have to agree with those annoyed with this really cheezy music... no point in watching at all when the video/audio is so ruined. And I am a Ali fan forever.

  • What is it with all the dumb music???

  • Ali looked pretty good in this fight..Probably better than any of his comeback fights to that point..Just not as quick as the Ali of the 60's..MOst people think of the Ali that beat Foreman...To me, I look at the Ali that beat Liston, Patterson I, and Cleveland Williams.....That was his prime

  • @jliles27 ali just wanted to prove that he could still dance, he had been fighting ellis since he was 16, fought him in the amatuers and used him as a sparring partner alot when ali was a pro, ali could have took ellis out in 4 rounds, he hurt him alot, and just carried him to humiliate him and show everyone that frazier didnt "end" him

  • We never really got to see Ali in his real prime.

  • ALI RULES...

  • why does he announce ali as being from new jersey?

  • @ichristian7575 He lived in Cherry Hill at the time.

  • What a great champion Ali was, you can see that after Ellis starts to stumble and look completely finished at the ropes at the end of the last round, that Ali starts to slow it down with light jabs to signal that the fight is OVER...

No one in history will be more valued as a Boxer as Ali is, greater charisma and influence I have never seen. The world would truly not be the same today without Ali.

  • Had Ellis met Ali before the 3 and a half years enforced idleness, he probably wouldn't have lasted more than 3 or 4 rounds. The Ali he fought in 1971 had his reflexes and speed at 50% of total at most.

  • Ali lost to Frazier when they were at their youngest. If those 3 fights had ben in 71, 72, and 73 you might have seen some different results. Frazier retired not long after their last fight in 75.

  • Notice how Angelo Dundee was in Ellis' corner for this fight?

  • @jorodd ---it wasa tough decision for Angie. I think because he was Ellis' trainer and mgr that he worked 4 Ali here

  • Good perforemance by muhammad went for substance made every punch count and not throwing silly fuckin punches just to look good missing and lookin like a twat

  • thumbs down. retarded music.

  • Ali ruled the 70s......loved watching him fight GOAT

  • Ellis was Ali's sparring partner. How the fuck is anyone gonna say this wasnt competition for him?

As if the man didnt prove everything he needed to. if ali wasnt the greatest then people wouldnt still be calling him the greatest 40 years later.

  • @TidusAgore sugar ray robinson was the greatest.

  • @Robstailey not in my book bro, you cant compare the two anyways, the fight can never happen so we will never know, but the boxing record is only a part of the story. Ali is the most influential sports figure ever, basically, so to me that makes him a better champion than robinson ever was.

  • @TidusAgore

Ali was more influential because he lived in an age where every fight was broadcast live on tv to millions all over the world.

Oh and by the way, he HIMSELF said robinson was the greatest of all time, he was taught by Robinson, and indeed picked up a lot of his style right from robinson.

on top of that robinson was a far more versatile fighter and is considered by virtually everyone knowledgeable on the subject to be the greatest of all time.

  • WHY dp people just HAVE to mess up a good fight videio by cutting out the fight commentary and putting in theiur own dumb "music" ?

  • @alexp8654 throw shit at yourself. Buy your own copy of the fight or don't watch this version of it. Solved!

  • @sdog2006 you stupid idiot ruined the video

  • @sdog2006 music is good fits the fight and ...

  • @alexp8654 stfu, this video is cool fag

  • @alexp8654 Plus this is a good song you prat!.

  • @alexp8654 whats the music name plls man

  • I think it worth to notice how gentle Ali waited the referee to stop the fight instead of knock him down. That what makes Ali the greatest boxer all the time.

  • @Airdedalus I agree !

  • @Airdedalus ummm, you are aware of the "Uncle Tom" fight, no? Of course you're not. Most people who go around calling Ali the greatest of all time don't know shit about him, or boxing for that matter.

  • Any way to post this without the distracting music?

  • rudziu go and thow shit at yourself. This is Ali's first fight after a WAR with Frazier and was nothing more than a tune up.

Are you actually slating Ali's opposition throughout his career? Are you fuckin nuts?

  • This was like a Lion vs a cub..total mismatch!!!

  • lol dont like ali he is clowning becouse he is here two times bigger than Ellis :> it try to find somwhere what was the weight of ali and ellis in this fight ....

ps joe frazier have more heart to fight and never clownig always go forward and want to fight .. and he beat this clown in theire most importnant fight .. joe frazier true people champ!

  • absolutely !frazier is a real popular champ unlike Ali

  • @rudziu102

their most important fight was the thrilla in manilla that ali won when frazier could not answer the bell............

  • Ali the merciful.

  • What is the song title? and who is the singer? Anybody knows? what a cool song.

  • Easy night..Ali won round 4 without even throwing punches LOL..

  • The only fight after he was hired by Ali that Dundee didn't work his corner. I wonder how Dundee must have felt working in Ellis' corner for this fight as much as he loved Ali....

  • HATERZ

  • Ali o maior de todos os lutadores de toda história do boxe mundial. que dominio de ringue, que jogo de pernas e a precisão cirurgica dos golpes. A era do boxe talento e espetáculo será sempre de Ali.

  • the only difference between ali's clowning in this era after the layoff is he was getting hit, not always cleanly but getting hit none the less.still an absolutely great fighter though

  • Very cool. Never seen this fight before.

  • does anybody know that soulsong??

  • Bobby Womack - Across 110th Street

  • The referee allowing Ali to put his forearm on the back of Ellis' neck and push his downward is disgusting 1:19. A flagrant foul and the 'referee' does nothing.

  • @marcxopoco

    Ellis shouldn't have duck then...

  • Comment removed

  • listen all, when you are used to hammering punches that ali took from frazier then the punches he took from fighters like ellis felt weak

  • You seen Ali calming down on Ellis when he is hurt because they are friends

  • Ah round 3, the true meaning of the science of boxing, Ali did the same with Williams in 67 and it is beautiful to watch such majestic artistry into working defense for you.

  • Ellis was legally blind at the time of this "fight."

Cleveland Williams had been shot in the stomach at point blank range a year and a half before he fought Ali. William had a shriveled left leg from nerve damage from the bullet he was shot with a year and half before he fought Ali.

You certainly pick the fights against damged opponents to sell your Ali, don't you joey.

  • Rabid Ali propagandists like joey can't take it when their hero is exposed. All they have left is foulmouthed hystericalness. You are pathetic, joey, as are your fellow Ali salesmen.

  • Pandering Ali shill Joey can't take when the light is shown on his fraudulent hero.

Nothing is left then for Joey but to show the trash culture that he has sprung from.

Clueless Ali shills like Joey are always low mentality gutter trash.

  • Well said.

Can you imagine how loud the Ali groupies would shriek if he entered a fight in that condition? LOL

  • You can see Ali doesn't want to punish him with a hard right at the end. A nice bit of class waiting for the ref to cut in.

  • Ellis was considered one of the best of a talented group of heavyweights in the 1960s and 70s—with the exception of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Angelo Dundee ranks Ellis up there with Sugar Ray Robinson in skill and technique. Jimmy was WBA Heavyweight Champion and defeated such men as Floyd Patterson, George Chuvalo, Jerry Quarry, Oscar "Ringo" Bonavena, Leotis Martin, Billy Daniels, Roberto Davila, Tony Doyle, Johnny Persol, Holly Mims and Ali as an amateur. "Mediocre? Hardly.

  • Great post, friend. Excellent info...and very well-written. Thanks for the b/g re: Ellis.

  • loooool ali won jimmi always, fuking idiot, in amateur too.

foreman would kill jimmi in 1 round

  • Yes he was! And he fougt his way up from Middleweight! His career was late when he was a Heavy and he still did well!!

  • If u can see on Ali's corner u would notice that Dundee is not present....thats because Ali let Ellis use him as his trainer for the night as a friendly hand and Ali used Ray robinsons trainer instead.

  • Ignorance is a terrible thing. "Very mediocre? The person who wrote that should learn to do his research before he badmouths one of the best heavyweights of his day. Anyone who believes this doofus should go on line and learn the truth about a very fine career in boxing by a fine champion, Jimmy Ellis.

  • mediocore is this a joke?

  • The person who wrote that had no idea what he was talking about. I think some peple just like to be hurtful for no reason.

Why try to tear down someone who worked so hard and won the Heavyweight Championship. There are some uncaring people out there, aren't there? Jimmy was a fine fighter and a very good man.

  • Ellis wasnt the greatest fighter but he was a pretty good boxer and was very game. Got up twice when Frazier, in his prime, knocked him down and he was very game against Ali. He did beat Quarry and Bonavena in the WBA tournament in the 1960s to become champion.

  • Yes, Ali and Jimmy Ellis were childhood friends.Ali didn't want to fight him but thats boxing.Fraizer he refuse to fight ken norton his friend.

  • Angelo Dundee lists Jimmy Ellis in his top ten fighters of all time list. Anybody think perhaps Dundee knows more about boxing skill than onlyjoetee?

  • wow Ali was really coming back here

  • I thought Tyson would take him, but Ali was so fast, don't think Tyson would have a chance....

  • Across 110th Street by Bobby Womack.

  • Ellis was Ali's sparring partner for years prior to this fight

  • damn ali worked him
