I have this Frankincense gum resin I haven't been using because I don't have a fireplace and I didn't really have a container for it. But I recently bought this brass burner with a lovely top and was trying to light it. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to try and just light the incense alone and I didn't understand why it wouldn't stay lit. It smells lovely till it goes out... oh, you're in Australia aren't you? Hopefully I'll be able to find it up here in the U.S. if it's not at the Food Co-op.
When i burn resins with a charcoal tablet the resin burns! Even when the tablet is buried in ash and the resin is on top. Do all charcoal tablets burn at the same temperature. I cant stand the burnt smell of the resin...
@atkinsonja I put a small piece of aluminium cooking foil on top of the hot charcoal disc and then put the resin on the foil - it burns much more slowly and doesn't burn.
@atkinsonja I have the same issue as well. I'm going to try what @storebror21 suggested but I recently started to burn my resin as an oil. I simply added water to the receptacle of my tea light oil burner with a couple of pieces of resin. It worked great without the burnt smell from using the charcoal disk. The resin I used melted pretty well in the heated water and smelled great as the water started to steam off. Its worth a shot. :)

@storebror21 Oh that's a good idea. I'll have to try that whenever I find some charcoal disks...if it even fits in my little brass burner.
