If you ever read the books, watched the TV show or saw a movie, you'd know that Perry Mason was an amazing defense atty. He never lost a case.

This song is not about Perry Mason the literary character though. It's about about drug use, or rather, it 's about the struggle to kick the habit of drug use. "We need Perry Mason" means we need someone to help us kick the habit, to beat the unbeatable, to win the unwinnable. Just like Perry. "Wake me up when it's over. . ." Great allegory.
