OK, can someone explain the purpose of this machine? Looks like a machine that planes (abrades, grinds?) a wide groove in the earth. There must be a purpose because companies are not in the habit of buying expensive machines just for grins. I just don't see the purpose. Pretty boring job even is the pay is good.

With this machine, you’ll get consistent material; reducing the need for primary crushers, large loaders, large haul trucks and the associated permits to transport material to crushers. No permits for blasting and end material is transportable by regular highway trucks.
