@unavei Are you on crack? I have been a FF fan boy ever since it started and still am to this day. While I love their story and characters, I have always found FF as a very straight forward game, yea there are like few times where you gotta think like a little bit? If your IQ is above room temperature then you should be fine. But wow is a lot better than FF in terms of MMO. Square's attempts at making an MMO has been HORRIBLE. They need to stick to single player and that's that. end of.
@unavei As for general game play. With all the FF games, I have always been stuck grinding for a fare while at one point or another, it is inevitable. With wow, they have made it where grinding never necessary and leveling is now far more enjoyable and can be a good pass time again. FF is only single player, defeating any real challenges you might think you have. With wow, you have to seek out help from actual people. Wow > FF, this is a non biased opinion so stick it up ya.

FFXIV is TERRIBLE for people that actually want to play. You are FORCED to craft to gain physical level so you can level your class. The entire game is based around crafting. The only quests in the game make you craft items. I made the mistake of buying this without looking too deep into it because I loved FFXI. SE really failed on this one.
Would love to play it, except I somehow ended up buying a game who's registration code was already used. Now I get to wait another week to see if the higher ups decide whether or not I deserve a new code or not. Special thanks to the asshole who used a keygen and made me spend $50 for nothing!
Anyway, I'll try not to judge this game based solely on my craptastic experience with the support thus far.

@HuevosRotos dude if 10 is favorite you probably missed the 9 previous better titles. The story was weak compared to the prior titles and it focused on visuals more than anything else which is why it's probably one of the lowest rated ff's next to the the 11 and 14
@linksage FF VII was amazing. So was X. So was X-2. VIII was horrible. They're changing it too much for american audiences. So they can be fast paced and shit. I like the FF VII battle system. It's faster, convenient, and still feels nice.

I have been playing mmos for some time with Wow as my most played maybe I am just used too the fast passed second too second choices. Only time will tell
ps3 version isn't even going to be release til march2011 and as of now microsoft isn't even on board with SE to bring the game to the 360. Though there has been talk about it, I doubt its going to happen at all. and the battle system is actually active time based not turn based.
I've played WoW myself and though its a different battle system than FF MMO I think the story line and cutscenes are better even in FFXI.
The funny thing is, Warcraft was repeatedly criticized for always having generic quest types of Kill X number of Y, for having huge travel times, for being too slow and too repetitive. It's starting to move away from that shit just to stay relevant - and here we have a totally new game making all of those mistakes again. It's like game developers have never spoken to anyone who actually plays these games.

@Parademik FFXI was also similar in terms of combat too... we used to think of 12 as an "Offline FFXI". I agree that I miss turn based FF games, but you're right that there are turn-based MMOs out there. Why not try one like Atlantica?

i always pictured FF Online games to have gameplay like FF10 n under. I mean those types of gameplay would be fit for an online game, instead of clicking on a monster n attacking.
I know this is just a beta but honestly if they don't change almost everything this game won't be worth paying a monthly fee for imo. Though then again I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for any game, but this one especially doesn't look like it's offering anything that would require a subscription fee.

It's the same concept. You bought something and continue to pay money to use it. You do not 'need' a car. You could walk, ride a bike, take a bus, but you WANT a car because it's just more convenient to you.

@FleetOfRetribution I really do need my car. My job requires that no people enter the facility on foot or bike for security reasons. As for MMORPGs requiring servers, yes, I know it costs money. That's where advertising comes in. I know a lot of well-made MMORPGs that allow people to play for free and have extra equipment, items, and features that cost money to help pay for the servers in addition to any advertisements they have.
@kevinkenny3 but then you have some pretty severe gameplay problems because the people who feel like sinking money into buying those items which keep the servers running get ahead of the rest of the community.
Take Dark Orbit for example. The game mostly boils down to who can sink enough money into their acount to buy the best ship and equipment in the game. These people often proceed to grief new players.

Older final fantasy is waaaay better than this (Y)
That does not mean though i will not try the BETA out on my PC, i will do to give me the benefit of the doubt. The game looks really uninteresting, tbh the graphics are a bit bland, animation could be better, it doesn't look or feel like final fantasy, a mutli billion dollar franchise people know and love.

@Parademik FFXI was also similar in terms of combat too... we used to think of 12 as an "Offline FFXI". I agree that I miss turn based FF games, but you're right that there are turn-based MMOs out there. Why not try one like Atlantica?

@DragonslayerII Very true it was like XII but there actually was a turn based battle system it wasn't trying to clone every other popular MMORPG such as World of Warcraft like this and I do play Atlantica it is an amazing game I would recommend that game to anyone especially the FF fans that feel betrayed by the series that changed there battle system that we all grew up loving such as the original US release of Final Fantasy III also known as Japans Final Fantasy VI

I know this is just a beta but honestly if they don't change almost everything this game won't be worth paying a monthly fee for imo. Though then again I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for any game, but this one especially doesn't look like it's offering anything that would require a subscription fee.

Go play that wow shit if you're into that bull. Slow combat? Of course! It's only a beta and you can only go so far into the game. Don't knock the game when you've only played 1% of what the game has to offer.

@magicdevil09 First off think about what you're saying before you say it. "Player vs player with robots" makes no sense. Also from what I heard from a lot of Wow players is that you'll be sitting there leveling and all the sudden some douche bag comes up and kills you out of no where with one spell thinking he's cute. Yeah "Real Pro" if you ask me. Glad FF series leaves that shit at the door. You should have read about the game before applying for the beta.

i thought ffxi was good when you have friends playing it but horrible when you dont ( i had no friends when i joined and had to figure it out my self) its was stressful but i eventually made some friends and joined a really goof linkshell so since im gonna pre order this game (collecters ed) so if any one of you guys are preordering it inbox me and if were on the same server than ill add you as a friends =D i have also been accepted into the beta =D =D :P

@FleetOfRetribution In our high-tech world, Internet is a necessity and for my job, I need to be able to access it at any given time. I need a car to go to work everyday. If I want to buy a game and chill during my free hours, I would pay 60 dollars at most for a game. I don't expect it to leech money out of my wallet every month. Don't compare games to internet access and transportation.

It's the same concept. You bought something and continue to pay money to use it. You do not 'need' a car. You could walk, ride a bike, take a bus, but you WANT a car because it's just more convenient to you.
Do you realize that MMORPG's require dozens of dedicated servers that run 24/7, do you also realize that such things are not free?

@FleetOfRetribution I really do need my car. My job requires that no people enter the facility on foot or bike for security reasons. As for MMORPGs requiring servers, yes, I know it costs money. That's where advertising comes in. I know a lot of well-made MMORPGs that allow people to play for free and have extra equipment, items, and features that cost money to help pay for the servers in addition to any advertisements they have.

@kevinkenny3 but then you have some pretty severe gameplay problems because the people who feel like sinking money into buying those items which keep the servers running get ahead of the rest of the community.
Take Dark Orbit for example. The game mostly boils down to who can sink enough money into their acount to buy the best ship and equipment in the game. These people often proceed to grief new players.

And where did I say that I wouldn't pay for a game? A game should be pay once, and play whenever, not pay once, and keep paying every month like an insurance payment. 15 dollars a month compared to the amount of hours is nothing if you intend to play all day and not work. and NO SHIT F2P MMOs aren't as good. I have a feeling that this game is going to be a flop, FF games have not been good since X. XI was an MMO and was crap, XII was terrible, XIII was an improvement but no where near the quality to old JRPG's like IX, VIII, VII etc... But I admired the graphics in XIII, that was the highlight of the game!

This game is horribly slow paced. If you want fast and exciting combat with even more beautiful graphics i strongly reccomend Tera Online. It makes this game look like a cheap and unprofessional.

You guys really are ridiculous, the game is being played by a guy who isn't even really "Trying". He's showing the game and what it's "Like" to others, if this were ACTUAL GAMEPLAY OF PERSON THAT IS GOOD AT THE GAME, It'd look different. So, seriously stop being quick to judge, if you don't even plan on purchasing and PLAYING this game, why the HELL are you even looking it up? To bash at it?
