I think both Beverly and Sissy did an awesome job in this movie, since the both sang live. I think I would have like Sweet Dreams better if Beverly played Patsy instead of Jessica Lange.

I never get sick of seeing this movie when its on tv. I saw it when it first came out in my early teens and it still just as good. There is alot of country music history in this movie for the famed country music legends we have lost since this movie came out, Roy Acuff,Minnie Pearl,Ernest Tubb and Grant Turner and i probably missed a few others. back in the 90's when this movie came out,i had a tape of sissy spacet doing the Lorretta Lynn songs from the movie of Coal Miner's Daughter. Cassette tape. she worked with Lorretta Lynn,to know her moves,her singing,all of it,got to know her, now i like to find the same thing on CD. Awesome cassette,of Sissy Spacet doing Loretta Lynn's songs. I don't have it no more,but i'm sure its on cd,somewhere,i like to have it again.

doggone it...now I'm gonna have to find recordings by Sissy Spacek. LoL, I never knew I liked her singin' when I was little and watched the movie, but I knew I liked Loretta's music from the time I could speak...apparently, because I would tell it to everyone I met...lol.

Tommy Lee Jones hits her during all movie, treats her like a trash, sleeps with other women while they are married,raped her. Is he American National Treasure after this??? He looks like a savage, dirty, uneducated, stupid nonentity. The only success of this movie is Sissy Spacek's outstanding performance, without her, this movie is nothing.

I think you are confusing Tommy Lee Jones with his portraying Loretta's husband Mooney Lynn. Mooney rough, older and an Army veteran. Also, a former miner and moonshiner. In this movie I don't recall seeing Tommy's character as being a savage, dirty, uneducated, stupid nonentity. Maybe you saw a different version than the one I saw. Tommy is a great actor. Loretta said Tommy Lee should have had an Oscar,too, for his role as her husband. Thanks crazydude for posting this. I love this song.-Paula

This movie is also special to me and my family since I'm in it (scenes at 13 and 34 seconds of this montage)and my father and older brother are too. I was 17 at the time and we had a blast being in the movie. I met Ernest Tubbs, Minnie Pearl, Beverly D'Angelo, Tommy Lee Jones and Sissy Spacek. Our scenes were shot in and around the Ryman Auditorium.

This movie was filmed in the same coal camp that I grew up in. The camp was called Pardee . It is no longer there. In one clip where she and her dad are at the train station you can see mine and my brothers swingset. The place where the pie contest was the first school I atteneded in Dunbar This is a very special movie to me.

Coal Miner's Daughter movie tribute #2 is as great as #1. I really enjoyed looking at all the wounderful pictures from the film. A hard to beleive that this film came out over 25 years ago. Today it is a modern day classic.
