If you disconsider any effect over a projectile after it's released, the 45 degree angle will provide maximum range.
Considering the drag force caused by the air it's estimated that about 44 degrees is best. So I'd say 45 anyway. Theoretically you're right robmarlowe.
Sorry if my English isn't too good.
Nice video btw! A pity though for there was no explosion. xD
Could be the amount of powder in the blank. I don't think all blanks were produced the same way. I am also pretty sure it depends on the angle of the rifle when firing then attachment. I think a 45 degree angle would produce the furtherest distance but I have not tested this.
Like Rob noted, you have to be at 45 degrees to get max range. Being 10 degrees off either way could certainly cut your range by 10m or more. Barrel length also makes a difference, and my AR was a 20". Range would also be better off a 7.62mm FAL, especially with proper grenade-launching blanks (not just noisemaking blanks) and with the gas-system shut off (which a FAL can do). Then again, if you push the pressure you are putting some stress on the gun, though with tennis ball it's low.
I've got the same thing! What kind of yardage are you getting on yours? My max is around 75yds. If you don't already have one, you can sometimes find an M203 Quadrant Sight for around $30, and that works great for launching as well.
I wanted to see it blow up. T.T

I get about the same yardage. I think the berm was at 50 yards and the grenade attachment went well over it.
