@DjGodzz carthage was a rich empire, definitely not the best. One of the greates empires are Greece, Macedonia (by Alexander's command), Germans (which is not empire but still), Huns/Mongols (later on in the history) and Egipt.

Rome still was the best emipre ever, no one could manage to defeat Romans untill the revolution (when the Cesar died) later on when the barbarian invasion started.

@DjGodzz I mean they were never beat in general, but yea they've lost battles. At the end they have defeated Gauls as Im sure you know. Also Huns were desperate to defeat Rome but after many battles they've failed and Huns went to settlement somewhere else (dont remember where). Im a beginner in this stuff so I cant tell you the actual dates and regions of the battles :P

But at the Second Punic War, the Roman army consisted of 32.000 footsoldiers and 1600 cavalries. So the image could be roughly accurate after I did a rough count.

Also the Waterloo battle in 1815, the french had an army of 72.000 soldiers and the british/russians had 118.000

That had to be a hell of a sigh :)
