I think God, or a practicing Christian, which I will note: I am not, would agree and disagree. I understand and agree that it is said that God created these flawed creatures. However, would disagree that it is unfair. The point to purposely creating flaws is to test the power of obedience and curiosity. A "good" person will use their "free will" to force their obedience to over-power their naturally high curiosity. -Continued.-
@QueenFugly: Although, when you get into this argument, you realize IF God is "all-knowing", he always knew Adam and Eve would disobey him, so it would appear that he said "don't do this", just for funsies. -Continued.-
@QueenFugly: [3] Certain people would say, God didn't create flawed creatures, he created normal people with free will, will to be "evil". To that I would say, if God is everything, Christians & the Bible says he is, he could have created blank slates, so to speak, WITH free will, and an over-powering sense of goodness, rather than curiosity. So all would be good, and when someone says, "don't do this.", more or less, people wouldn't want to do it.
Fuck the dog and steak metaphor. You find the peculiar dog, and you find the steak, and you combine them in a matter which allows you to satisfy your sadism.
God one-upped the hell out of that, and purposefully created a whole fucking universe, not just for the purpose of inflicting sadism upon a trillion sentient beings, but also in the specific manner which will cause them to feel the greatest possible guilt over it. And with perfect foreknowledge of the consequences of his actions, to boot.
The grass is always greener whether you're in or out. Running back and forth is perceiving existence as a duality. If you're reading this it's solely because you wrote it. Don't mention it. --God
Well you left out that the serpent tempted Eve when she was alone and she ate, then Adam; thats why women cant lead the church/be pastors today.
Also youre right it was Gods fault thats why Gods only Son paid the price that Adam/Eves sin caused. You dont have to "be good" to get into heaven, just accept Christs payment in your place. So salvation is free in that sense because it wasnt our fault to sin, we all inherited Adams sin nature God pays for it for us, we only need to approve and sayok
If you had any of Tim Dorsey's , I'd forsake banging 5 supermodels, getting bong hits, and swimming in your awesome indoor waterfall pool with cave siding. That dude's books are simply too good to be leaving on a musty shelf. :)
I think these rules are meant to be confusing and impossible to follow. It's a lot easier to oppress people who think it's their own fault but can't figure out why.
It's all a big test, your in school right now.

I think the point of the story is about how god managed to create something while still giving it free will.
It is also an attempt to explain why god can do nothing to stop humans from "evil" behaviour despite being omnipotent.
A modern interpretation would be the scientist who creates AI with free will which then refuses to listen to the scientist's commands.
This is a big point that needs to be understood by those who go up against Christianity.
eg. free will = bad stuff happening.
