it defo was a continuity error, i recall discussing this till i was blue in the face on lostpedia in the good old days ahhhh, what i wouldnt give to discuss the continuity on lost for 5 hours these days. Good night.
There has to be two smoke monsters. When Frank and Sun go to the docks and you *clearly* hear the smoke monster noises and we see Christian pop up, the MIB is still on the other island (can't move across water either) and comes with Ben to the docks.
I try to watch old eps to see if the writers have stayed with continuity throughout the series, and so far so good (mostly), but I wanna see where they're going with this whole "The Island is a CORK to HELL" idea. Dunno yet. So really delving into little things, for me, is only the tip of the iceberg. I wanna get to the end first, then analyze and tear it up lol
He said it "leads directly to a town"... he never said it's right BY a town. And it's not a lake, it's a lagoon.
I think it's just confusing camera work... they cut directly from the start of their journey to their arrival in the town. Had they done a slower fade-out / fade-in, then it would have better expressed the passage of time it took for them to walk.
is there a hollow part under dharma town where the "hostiles" put the bomb? Yeah there was also water under there. Maybe next season it'll show how it works
Are we really trying to make sense of this, really?!!! Come on now, it's an island that has a smoke monster and that is just the tip. Let's just wait until all is revealed then we can tear it to shreads. Until then let's just enjoy the ride, shall we ;)
For me these regards are part of the LOST-fun. And I think, sometimes it's actually wanted, that the people pay attention to details like maps and other hints.
In episode 5.12 we can see, that John and Ben indeed need about an hour to get from this dock to the dharma-town: They start their walk before sunset and reach the town at night.
So Sun and Lapidus must also have negotiated the mountain to get to dharmatown. this would be an explanation. :o)
Meaning that the place that Sun and Frank arrived at isn't in the barracks at all, that was just a weak assumption. Imagine when you hear the word town, remember as Ben grew up as a janitor, chances are he has been to the docks/regristration point meaning he could very well consider that to be a part of his town. To sum it up entirely, it is confusing, but doesn't really mean it is a blooper =/
Sorry if the arguement is rather flimsy regarding this video but unfortunately I cannot rewatch the episode to ensure that my argueement is valid. "Please, have a seat, Jack. As you may have gathered, we don't live on this little island. In fact, most of us don't really even like coming here." -- Isabel. The barracks were designed as a living quarters I would imagine. Meaning that registration and transportation to the outside world is done outside of the barracks.
I think that much like the book young Ben brings Sayid.....Sun and Frank are in an "Alternate Reality" I think the fact they showed that book was to set us up for something bigger to come, after all, Frank has no "constant" with any of the Survivors, and Sun only has Jin. That is to say, no ties to anyone aside from the time they were all on the island.
remember though in episode 5.09 Dr Chang asks who jacks shuttle driver was so maybe they had it a long way in and the others just lived there without shuttle drivers so it would probably be a long way for the others but not dharma
Hmmm, but didn't John bring Miles to a boathouse within minutes in Season 4? In that scene he put a hand grenade in Miles' mouth. So there has to be a lake too or not? Would John have brought Miles down to the coast for that? Why so circuitous?
It must be a blooper

The city is located near lagoons and big rivers... Just look at Rousseau's island map on Lostpedia.
