  • That's soo legit. What brand and color name is that red stain you used??

  • Dude why did you do that to the guitar at 0:31 ?

  • @RocketQueenBand201 is that sarcasm? Its drill holes for the stop tail.

  • @JoshuaRFox No im serious mate ! So i have to do that for my guitar too ??

  • @RocketQueenBand201 depends on the tail for your guitar. As it appears, his guitar came with no stop tail route, so he had to drill it out, if you plan on putting a stop tail on you might have to do this, although most LP kits come with one. But, if you plan on putting a differnet tail on, such as a bigsby, it wouldn't be required.

  • Hey whats up I like the video.... I believe i just purchased the same DIY kit from ebay, i have a question though..... How and where do you know to drill for the bridge and tailpiece? I've been searching all over and couldnt find any answers. Also did the body come with binding or did you add it? Either way EXCELLENT JOB!!!!!!

  • honestly do not see the point in a guitar kit, you either build a guitar properly or not at all, theres nothing worth doing with a kit, just assembling and a bit of painting or whatever, get stuck in at the deep end and make a guitar properly! though tbf not a bad job with the kit ;-)

  • Baah, guitar kits... All the fun is gone with them.

  • il give you $2000 for it

  • that is the coolest and nicest looking les paul ive ever seen that isnt an actual gibson. more than a nice job

  • Absolutely amazing!! 10/10

  • how much were the pick ups? and would you recomend them of hard rock?

  • How long did u took to make this?

  • how do you acually make the tiger stripe cuz i did this for a school project, i stuffed the stripe up so i went with a sunburst...that looked even worse. but how do u actually paint the stripe with the dye?

  • how did u do the back n front pls pm me on how thanks

  • Amazing job! What does it sound like?

  • EXCELENT MY FRIEND!!! I LIKE IT!!! WOODS????? MAHOGANY? MAPLE??

  • I'm all about this kit thing, I can finish one the way I want it and put on the hardware the way I like. The only thing I'm not clear on after watching countless vids, is the neck set.

Is the neck and pocket already to go and how do you know what needs to be done to get that neck set right the first time. If that neck in off the axe is worthless.

    Help.

Great looking axe. I'm sure your proud of it. If it plays as good as it looks you should be very happy !!

    (hummbucker hippie)

  • id pay you to do mine exactly like that lol

  • woah... sweet! im getting one soon. what did you use for the body finnish?

  • Bastard

  • @EliSexyton ...I'm speachless...

  • I mean I apreciate your love for classic metal! <\../

  • Nice job but were did u get that kit I want one

  • So this IS the GF LP kit? Good deal.....was wondering as to the quality of their kits. I realize the electronics are crap as they come(hell, when the website even says as much in the online literature....LOL), but the basic structure is what I'm interested in.

  • @bowslap this wasactually from a small dealer on ebay. Probably the same thing. yeah, hardware is crap. I changed tuners, pups, pots...

It's all about the woodwork. If you do a good job on the finish, put decent hardware on you could have a fine instrument.

It also requires a fret job btw...

    Good luck,

    J-

  • dude I'm drunk and I can see this is awesome unlike the one who clearly missed the like button

  • is that the Saga LC-10 LP style kit????

  • @SkateX4XLife714 No, not a Saga. You can find them at guitar fetish or byo guitar.

  • @LRRS15 You can find them at guitar fetish or byo guitar.

    They are $175-$250...

  • Cool. Kinda looks like the Gibson Sammy Hagar Les Paul without the huge Chickenfoot logo on the headstock.

  • I love the finish, and wish I had one just like it.

  • Thank you!

  • how did you get the quilts to stand out so vividly? surely the paint would cover it up?

  • @ravenshield56 he stained the top of it and coated it with a clear laquer so the stripes will still be visible

  • @sthrnynky7 ahhhhh i get it, thanks :)

  • @ravenshield56 no problem

  • I used a die on the quilted veneer and used clear lacquer to enhance the look. Watch the tigerstripe part one video.

  • where did you get the kit from LOOKS GREAT MAN!!!

  • how much did that kit cost

  • You can get them $150-$250. Try ebay...

  • What kit has the trapezoid fret board inlays?

  • You can find them at guitar fetish or byo guitar.

  • Judas Priest

  • 1.34 what tipe of paint is it?

  • That's wood dye.

  • is that a binding or did you leave a stripe to look like it?

  • @Mattytheman91 Binding.

  • hey where did you get te les paul headstock stencl thing

  • Hi, I didn't use a stencil for that. Kinda free handed it.

  • Man thats great! I had delusions of doing this before I got my first electric, then I realized that after getting all the tools etc pff might as well just buy a guitar already made lol. This is an awesome job though!

  • Thanks so much. Good luck with your set up. btw that brown sand paper works great.

  • where did you get the dyes from and what did you mix it with i saw your other videos but dont know what it is thanks

  • You can get it at Stewmac, cut it with water or denatured alcohol.

  • how many cans of black clear and sanding sealer did you need im going to do one soon thanks

  • 1 can of black 4 cans of clear. Just use clear instead of sealer.

  • looks great. I love that finish. I've been wanting to build a guitar from the ground up for a long time..just never got to it. Looks like there's quite a few of those DIY kits out there. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Your welcome and thank you!

  • @agenturge Don't get a kit. Build it yourself. its shit hard, but you can make it all your own

  • @cjdavda I know I can get all I need from Warmoth and all that but I'd rather try it first and invest less. if I mess it up, I won't feel as bad as I would. I'd be okay with spending extra on the electronics and hardware anyway.

  • Im 14 is this to hard im worried about wiring

  • You should start with a Saga kit. They come with snap together wiring.

  • You should make a demo video of this guitar its amazing thanks for the advice

  • Thanks so much! I may some day.

  • NICE i love the finish. I want to do one just like that but green. How did you apply the dyes and how did you mix them.

    Thanks

  • Please watch tigerstripe part 1 for details on finishing.

  • awesome job as always

btw i asked my dad if he would like to build a guitar with me and he agreed but he said that he knew nothing bout guitars and that he would preffer to make something else instead.

This video once again inspires me to continue in persuading my dad to help me :D .

Oh and i just have 1 question.About the LP kit : how can i get it? I mean i know that you dont make international deliveries anymore and so i dont know where i could get one that would be in good shape

    Thanks :)

  • Thank you. Try ebay. I know there are European companies selling those kits. I just don't know who they are.

    Good luck! J-

  • Wow!!!! that is amazing

  • Thank you very much.

  • Can you build me a guitar in high quality?

I trying to make money now so I can pay for it.

I need to know hos much does it cost to build it and how much to ship to scandinavia.

I know it depends on the electronics, and how much time you spend on it, but I think it will be the worth the wait and the money.

If you are interested I will send you the specs on email and pictures of the guitar I want.

    PM your email.

It is ok if you dont want to but the price I can pay is up to 900 -1500 USD.

  • Wow! Very nice. Im about to refinish an epiphone les paul just the top in a solid black color. Can you offer any advice please?

  • awesome project !!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Nice, how did you make the tiges stripes?

  • Watch "Tigerstripe LP" Part 1

  • would you recommend the kits?

  • I would definately but if you aren't a patient person who doesn't mind a few bumps in the road, I wouldn't. Some people are better off buying the finished product...

    Hope that helps.

  • @jwhambone79 hey could you tell me where you got this les paul kit from? thanks hope to build my own soon.

    -Brian

  • You can find these on ebay, guitar fetish, byo guitar.

    Good luck!

  • Wow! Thanks!

  • I really like what you did with the colours... mine is kinda dull but i managed to put on some graphics... I wanted to ask: those zebra pickups were factory or you ordered them separately? and if you did from where???

  • Hi, Thanks! I got the pickups from "guitarheads". They're nice pups, fair priced.

  • Thanks... i'M thinking of doing a similar patern on my new kit

  • it looks red not orange

  • where did you get this kit? I have been looking at some lp kits and this seems to be the best.

  • what kind of guitar is this???? please reply!!!

  • Its a les paul... I believe from a Tenayo les paul kit

  • what colour did u do the top of the guitar with. nice finnish by the way

  • Thanks. It was just black and bright red.

  • hey man, do you make these kits? if so, how much for a les paul kit JUST like yours without any drill holes for the bridge...i'd like to customize a les paul but warmoth is just too expensive for me. i'd like to put on a Schaller 456 bridge but all other kits out there have holes drilled for tune-o-matic bridges. thanks for your time - and great finish on the LP in the video!

  • That's a bit better than the Sunburst

  • Yes, I agree thanks.

  • wow, that makes my kit look like crap......

  • Thanks...I bet it doesn't look that bad...

  • when I finaly post the vid I'll link it to a comment
