  • Duet with Fiona and Bill would be amazingggggg.

  • Wow, this is sexy for a completely different reason than Bill's version.

  • 3:45 if i ever banged fiona apple, it would sound like this...she got heavy soul covering bill withers like that though, well done!

  • I love her she sounds kick ass so does Ben harper on this song!

  • girl, leave bill withers alone. This girl must have great marketing and producers behind her, 'cause this sucks harder then hard.

  • Bells/Xylophone so unnecessary.... this cover is OK. Drummer's too f'ng jazzy. Her voice is awesome though.

  • @Swipich Completely agree about the damned vibes.

  • @Swipich What's wrong with putting you own spin on a cover? She sounds like herself! To say that a pretty young white chick is trying to sound like Bill... whatta fucktard statement. Keystroke Kritics. Jesus fucking Chrysler just shut the fuck up and listen!

  • @Swipich That's a vibraphone. Learn your shit before you critique something.

  • I love Fiona Apple, I fucking love her. Sometimes she passes from memory for a year and then BANG, as incredible as ever.

  • honestly I dont see what's so great about this particular cover. I mean I can hear the passion but I think she is trying too hard to sound like Withers

  • @somada141 Lol, you gotta hear more from Fiona Apple...she is just an incredible soul, that makes INCREDIBLE soul music.

If you dont know that already, listen to ANY song by her. I'd suggest "Shadowboxer", "Love Ridden" , "I know", "Slow like Honey", and "Pale September". "First Taste" is my fave.

    She never TRIES...she IS!

And Im sure you saw it like that because its very likely she was inspired by Bill Withers.

  • NICE ! But I think Grace Jones did a better cover.

  • lovely cover. As usual

  • keep on using me until you use me up

  • Goose bumps

  • Now thats cool,,,,,& She's hot !

  • she gets lost in singing entirely, she's a musican from flesh and blood

  • she has the best drummer. i dont know if its the same person on each album, but i always get lost in the beat.

  • One of three awesome covers from Fiona. My favorite is "Angel", but this is a cover of one of my all-time favorite artists. Bill Withers is one the greatest R&B artists ever.

  • Definitely real music even though she's covering here.

  • this is awesome!! one of my all time favorite songs. love the original and love Fiona showing Bill respect owed!! Just posted a cover of this tune, please check it out!

  • She sounds nice.I like D'Angelos version better.

  • more funk in the bill version.. but glad someone is keeping this alive for the kids

  • more funk in the bill version.. but glad someone is keeping this alive for the kids

  • @MegaWhiner, Listening to Bill Withers first, but I'm a fan of both. I was looking up Bill Withers stuf on here, and it lead me to this. I'm glad it did.

  • the song has a whole new feeling when sung by a woman. and i like it

  • I`m listening to this track as a first-timer to Fiona`s music. I am a HUGE Bill Withers fan & the first two words she sang gave me GOOSE. BUMPS.

  • bill withers' original version is wayyyy better! however, i do like the bells she used.

  • This is by far my favorite cover song from Fiona!! Hands down! Her sultry voice is perfect for this. And I think this is really is better than the original.

    PS:mccabe you are sooo right!

  • I just realized who Bill Withers is, he's from my day. Fiona's version blows him away. No artist should ever want Fiona to cover one of their songs because she will just make them look bad. Fiona really can sing any kind of music. A gift to all of us.

  • @MegaWhiner This is good, but not better than the original.

  • @justchad78 We just have to disagree. How did you end up listening to this? Listening to Bill and checked out Fiona, or listening to Fiona first?

  • I had to re-post this to my facebook account because I love her version so much.

  • Smart, sophisticated, foxy, powerful

  • Damn I wish I could see this performance....Goddamn I love Fiona!

  • OH MY GAWD.... Bill Withers would STAND UP AND SHOUT on this cover! Hail to the queen....

  • Damn... this is the Shiznit!! I been a fan of Fiona's a long time but i had no idea she covered this. So provocative! She exudes sexxy.

  • Wouldn't call myself a Fiona Apple "fan" but I've always appriciated her music, this truly hit the the spot. Sooo funky, sooo smooth, very very nicely done.

  • shivers and chills FUCKK

  • I agree she is sooo talented and just fricken HOT!!!!!!

  • Very cool that so many people watch and respond to this video. I wrote my comment quickly and off the top of my head. I meant to say that she deserves more awards and recognition than Beyonce and Taylor Swift combined. I understand that she isn't about awards or recognition, and that's just another reason why she's so great. The music industry is a crazy messed up world that does not value true talent. In my opinion, Fiona is (and always has been) ridiculously underappreciated.

  • @timthomas03 Aww Come on man this is better than the original!

  • If It Feels This Good Getting Used.......THEN USE ME UP!!! =)

  • Fiona is breath taking

  • I'm dying for a cleaner/fuller version of this song.

She needs to do this on an album!

  • This song cuts out right when it starts to jam!! Dang......

  • CRAP!!!

  • @khrayt YOU SUCK!!!!!

  • @cranberrysnickers Still CRAP!!! LOL!!!

  • i appreciated fiona!!! =] =] =] =] =]

  • Why doesn't this have eleventy billion trillion views?

  • Love her version of "send me someone to love".

  • wow i used to have this mp3 way back in the day. i am so glad i found this on youtube so i can listen to it again. i've always loved her version. thanks for posting!

  • funky! almost acid-jazz vibe, she is so good live

  • Anyone know what show/album this is from?

The song is cut just when the guitar is getting revved up.

BTW- Fiona's cover rips but Zero w/ Kimock used to just kill it !

  • bombshell

  • nice version, she has an excellent feel for the music

  • Stupid crowd

    "You like Bill Withers?"

    "Who is he?"

Fiona was probably like let me educate these idiots

    Awesome cover

  • @Apoet916 ya worst thing about fiona is her fans...

  • @harybosco

Yeah. I just like her music. I guess you could say I'm a big fan. I'm guessing you're a fan, too? Hmm.... wait a damn minute here....

  • I tell you the truth, I tell you the truth

You really do, you really do abuse me

Ahh, ya get me in a crowd of high class people

And then ya gotta act all rude to me

  • Fiona Apple can use me anytime!

  • im groovvvvinnnn

  • Nice remake : )

  • Lol @ the two idiots arguing in the comments. Great cover though.

  • Personally I think someone who is 20 that hears a song, regardless of the source, that he/she likes and thinks enough of it to take the time to look it up, a song from the 70s no less and from someone who enjoys Deathmetal, isn't such a horrible crime. He's a little over the top with the language, but his overall point isn't lost on me. The fact that it led this kid to a Bill Withers song is pure win. Bravo.

  • Bravo to you as well! For seeing and giving positive feedback to young ppl!

  • and for being a good example of how a mature person has to behave

  • i like it fine

  • Terrible cover

  • I for one think this is great, don't know what about you.

  • This sounds like a bad American Idol performance. Fiona has some good songs, but this is almost insulting to the original.

Certain people shouldn't cover certain songs.

  • It's almost like this song was made for her to sing. It's totally in her style of her other albums. Especially the lyrical content: love and scorn. She rocks this.

  • Nah, bullshit mate, this was a bland as fuck cover, no soul at all, listen to this Bill Withers version and then get back to me :)

  • I listen to Bill Withers, that's how I found this cover, Iceberg. I like her interpretation and I think she has plenty of soul. Of course she's not going to be able to match the soul of Bill Withers, she's not supposed to. She's her own artist.

  • It wasn't bland. But if you don't like it, why bother commenting. Nobody cares about your opinion.

I think she does excellent covers and this is one of the ones I like most, I love when she sings in her lower register.

  • When you hit "reply," you automatically reply to someone.

The comment section isn't for people to post comments to pretend that they know what they're talking about. I bet you hadn't even heard the Bill Withers version until you saw this and saw it under the "related videos" table. Your "about me" indicates your terrible musical taste (no Bill Withers to be seen!) and the fact that you think you know what you're talking about because you're studying music tech. Shut up now.

  • @PerhapsMaybe - Ahahahah, are you for real, I think you will find that teddy pendergrass is in there.... classic soul, I've been listening to Bill withers ever since I heard "use me" on the movie "Anchorman" in 2004, don't act like you know me 'coz you really are wrong you little cum bag whore fuck slut bitch sket. Music technology has very little to do with analyzing music, it has more to do with production and composition, so shove that one up your clown's pocket pussy

  • The reason the "reply" button is there is so you don't have to start every post with the person's username. Ooh, Anchorman, you sure do love music, finding it out from a ridiculously popular and overrated movie. If you don't stop sexually harassing me with the things you feel the need to place at the end of each response to cover your lack of intelligence, I will report you. Just shut up. You're so incredibly rude and ignorant that it's painful, no wonder you're attempting to study music tech.

  • @PerhapsMaybe - I put your username at the beggining of every post so that people reading this can see who it was aimed at you stupid bitch, and so what ... report me, see if I give a fuck, you're an absolute moron, and I studied music technology about 2 years ago you fucking idiot. Yes I heard it in a movie, you're forgetting that I'm 20 years old, where else am I going to hear music thats 20 years older than me you fucking bell end, WTF does music technolgy have to do with being rude to you ?

  • One, reading comprehension is definitely not your strong point. Two, you clearly do care, because this response was devoid of a rude string of words at the end. That means "not there." Three, I'm twenty years old, and I listen to a lot of music that's "older" than I am. Four, if you had a genuine interest in soul music, you would have found it without the aid of Will Ferrel's dreadful movie. Five, swearing won't cover up your lack of intelligence.

  • @PerhapsMaybe - For fucks sake, are you still continuing this argument ? Get a fucking life. The only reason I didn't end the last comment with a string of the usual abuse is 'coz I ran out of characters at the end. I don't have a genuine interest in soul music, I like death metal and hardcore but i do like the odd soul/funk song you fucking idiot. What the fuck are you ranting on about comprehension for ? The last comment you sent was utterly incoheirant ! Slut, whore, bitch, hooker, slag :)

  • One, if anyone is stupid enough to put their real age on a profile on the internet, that's fucking sad. Two, it's incoherent, not "incoheirant," you ignorant, sad little man. Three, if you reply to me again I'm reporting you for sexual harassment. Sexually harassing someone doesn't make you smarter. And you wouldn't know what I look like, but I can guarantee that I'm a damn sight better looking than you are with that mug. Shut up. Just give up. You're incapable of intelligence.

  • @PerhapsMaybe bahahahahah You ugly fat slaggy bitch, report me, I DARE YA :D

  • I'm sorry but I just had to say somthing this is too funny. You two just need to go suck each other off ya know like 69 or somthing. Cause' its obvious neither of you have been laid in awhile or you wouldn't be having such a big catfight over what who said to who or what who knows what about such and such music.

  • @kreber50 Shut the fuck up "Sweet Mustangs"

The only people you've fucked is your mom

  • @Iceberg211989 wow, you are a vast wealth of inteligence, lol

  • i think it's "but i also know what's really true" instead of "But I don't know what's really true"

  • fiona is the fucking best! she rocks this cover!!

  • Fiona is one of the most underappreciated artists to come out in the past 15 years. Insanely talented, soul-full, beautiful, passionate. What more could you ask for? If she debuted today, she'd be winning more awards than Beyonce and Taylor Swift combined.

  • Kanye would be givin her shit though

  • lmfaoo haha

  • @vipeme1 Kanye loves her! When the Pawn is the reason he wanted Jon Brion to produce Graduation.

  • @michaeljamesmccabe I agree, most of the female singer/songwritters that surfaced around those years where sorta very much anticipated to those days!

  • @michaeljamesmccabe she's not really underappreciated, she's incredibly loved, she's just not interested in being a show pony, and I think she prob wouldn't be comfortable with more fame. She's a real person with a real life, not a celebrity prostitute. If most people are into elevator music, then that shows you something about the avg. intelligence.

  • @michaeljamesmccabe Sadly, I don't think she would. Music used to be less mediocre in the mid-nineties when she came out, and she didn't do as well as she should of, didn't get recognized as well as she should of. Music is even more mediocre than ever now, so she would not even be getting any recognition at all. I mean look at Vanessa Carlton. She's not appreciated either.

  • @michaeljamesmccabe what i think is that taylor swiff and beyonces suck! they sing for skan ppl just like them

  • @michaeljamesmccabe Will everyone stop comparing her to fucking puppet artists??!! That's not the type of music she makes. It wouldn't be any different today. That's like saying 'everyone was better than her back then, but now that people suck she has a shot".. Nope.

  • @michaeljamesmccabe No Doubt!!! She's just GREAT!

  • @michaeljamesmccabe No Doubt! She's TOPS! Such a Fantastic, Beautifully Powerful....Awesome, and undeniably REAL and True "Torch Singer" though and through....They're not many..anymore.....Just love Fiona Apple!

  • @michaeljamesmccabe I totally agree with your comment except for the last sentence. She WAS huge when she debuted in 1996, but she didn't like all the fame and attention. She didn't play their game, she played by her own rules. She refused to fit the mold of the typical pop/ rock star. She has a pattern of disappearing for years then coming out with a new album out of the blue. Yet I think that it is because she is the way she is that she will always have such devoted, loyal fans. :)

  • haha nobody in the audience knows who bill withers is

  • Well executed. =)

  • i dig this song normally, holy shit. Fi's got soul.

  • Or even better, 3:45

If I ever had the pleasure of making Fiona orgasm, it would sound just like this

  • @HoichiTheEarless fagget

  • Like for instance, 3:17 til the break of dawn

  • Fiona's covers are tight. I like her vocals on this one especially.

  • For this song (as well as her cover of Angel), had she tried to make it sound just like the original, it would not have done the song justice. Only Bill can sing it like Bill. Music is personal and sounds different to everybody.

  • i know right??

  • thats just ace

  • Oh, so sexy. Love you FIona. Like a cross between Janis Joplin and Grace Slick.

  • Love her version of this song

  • i'm not saying she is going for to sound better than the original or not, but to me the only thing rivaling the original is the band. Bill Withers original is more humbly sung and classic, her's is harshly sung. and maybe it's their style, but it's too fast tempo

  • ya

    no

    bill is better

but great that she attempted such a great song

    hers is pain

    his is resolve

  • Wow! I love your analysis of Bill's original version of Use Me.

  • Comment removed

  • this woman owns ANY SONG SHE DOES> The whole time I had chills... still do, she is cold!

  • Charlie Drayton on drums - funky.

  • i like fionna alot. but i'm not feelin' this cover at all. the original is much better. and fiona is much better when she sings her own songs

  • No, not at all. Her covers of Across the Universe, I Want You, and Tonight You Belong to Me are undeniably amazing. You should look them up if you haven't, especially I Want You

  • She owns this song.

  • Cool cover, I like it better than the original, the band is also kickin ass on this song!

  • This is barely faster than the original. This drummer is kicking all kinds of ass, too.

  • Fiona Apple is incredible! This version is marvellous. It sounds like a song of Billie Holiday's repertoire.

  • damn kids don't know who Bill withers is...

    Yes too fast!

  • i'm 19 and I know. And this is a great version of the song. Would you want every different version of the song to have the same tempo and sound like the original. I wouldn't. This wouldn't be a very good song if Fiona didn't make it her own.

  • I still like Bill Withers version better but this is very well done for being live and in concert.

  • Love her!

  • fine

  • just awesome. i could not have dreamed up a more magical combination than fiona apple and bill withers.

  • wow..i always knew that i was drawn to Fiona Apple's songs as a teen, because she was the only white girl who seemed to have something to say....i had no idea she was into classic soul, though. I love this!!!!

  • Like this version. Not better than original but still good.

The background sounds like it'd be in an Ocean's 11/12/13 movie.

  • I want to hear her sing it at different tempos, cuz it's so damn good!

  • I like the marimba-sounding melody in the background, nice touch

  • naa. a bit to fast. her voice, compared to his. lol. bill withers voice is way better than hers

  • great cover,,,,,flawless. thx

  • Nice but she should have kept it at the original tempo. The listener can enjoy her voice better this way.

  • Amazing cover!

  • I always though Richie Havens was the sweatiest man alive (see the Woodstock video)

  • marry me goddess... marry me and i will bring you warm milk with honey every morning... marry me you amazing woman.

  • Great cover. Just for the record, Bill Withers is the sweatiest man alive. Great singer though. Legend has it that if you swab his forehead and smear it behind your ears when there's a full moon you get supernatural powers.

  • hm..sweat and supernatural powers? really

  • Are you calling me a liar? Saw it with my own two eyes. When I travelled in Tanzania I met a witchdoctor who kept a jar of Bill Withers sweat just for emergencies. One night he mixed it up with a ground Albino's foot. Wrassled ten lions before sun-up. No foolin'.

  • Will you hook me up with the witchdoctor? I have an emergency.

    =)

  • awesome mojo...i need me some black cat bone and Bill Withers sweat...spell in the works

  • i didn't know who she was till i searched for some bill withers covers on youtube. just spent 40 bucks on iTunes for 4 of her albums....great stuff!!!

  • whoo!! awesome bill withers cover, Fiona!

  • If it ain't fiona apple, I don't give a rat's ass...

  • OH my god fiona. This is a good one.

  • Great song......as if those teenie boppers had any idea who Bill Withers is. lol

  • A perfect cover for Fiona Apple. She absolutely knocks this one out of the park.

  • cool cover, love fiona!
