  • Fu%& the rest: best song evR

  • brillant !!!!! i love it

  • I read a great anecdote about this you may have heard it before, but if you havnt it went when Ian died, the band decided they wanted to record this properly, both in Ian’s memory & because it was great song they were proud of. The problem was, they didn’t have the lyrics. Bernard had to sit listening to a recording of live version over and over again to try and decipher Ian’s lyrics. What exists today is (well, apart from the odd word which might be wrong) is Ian Curtis’s last masterpiece!

  • 1364 people are sexy as hell

  • I dedicated this to a girl. Now she´s my girlfriend.

  • ONE OF THE BEST MUSIC POEMS IN THE STORY.

  • Marie Antoinette's soundtrack. Perfection. <3

  • Ian Curtis's last masterpiece.

  • Which version is this? I can't ever find this one on anywhere...

  • @uscslayer New Order

  • @uscslayer it's on Substance disc 1

  • Someone get a negotiator in and/or some anger management so we can have the full members back together again.. next year New Order and Peter Hook are touring.. but not together. Wish Hooky and the rest would resolve their differences because we all love NO more than the individual members' other projects.

  • @ArchieMoore

Not happening I'm afraid,, wish it would though..... Love em all to death.

  • fuck Kesha

  • I was always loved up with Bernie.... MWAH!

  • My all-time favorite song. After so many years, listening to so many songs, this is still #1.

  • New Order are really good, and this song is really good. All other comments are invalid and unnecessary.

  • Sex is overrated. New Order is not. Signed, a woman

  • @spacytracy810 u shld try havin sex while listenin to new order

  • this arrangement is a lesson in minimalism. It's so effective - A lesson in what can be done just with a beat and one other instrument, then bring other things in

  • thanks a lot !!!

    =)

  • Wish there was real meaningful music made like this. Then everybody would be happy nowadays.

  • I have this song in my head, whenever I'm about to do some important task/talk/decision/exam, whatever!

"I'll break them all, no mercy shown

Heaven knows it's got to be this time.

Watching her, these things she said,

the times she cried, too frail to wake this time."

    !

  • beautiful song, a mais bela canção do new order, uma obra prima.

  • Excelente !!! pero me quedo con la version de JOY DIVISION con Ian curtis!

  • new order needs more songs like this one. Some are wayy to 80s

  • @iwtlhs112 : What are you talking about? This song was widely released in 81' or 82 I think as a revamped version of the Joy Division original. New Order's music did go somewhat in a different direction during the 80's, but it was great and innovative synth rock, not like the shallow and simplistic synth pop that abounded during the decade that had some of the greatest music ever!

  • POR QUE NO HAY COMENTARIOS EN ESPAÑOL?SI ESTE ES UNO DE LOS MEJORES TEMAS DE LOS 80

  • @carrillo133 : SIN DUDA ESTOY DE ACUERDO QUE LO ES. SALUDOS

  • @carrillo133 Probablemente lo sea, estoy de acuerdo.

  • All of New Order's other songs are a completely different style from Ceremony and Age Consent

  • @doulkmochi What about leave me alone?

  • @doulkmochi coz it was joy division who wrote ceremony. this is basically a cover version

  • @DavidFrat123 - Cover version is stretching it a little ? The same people wrote and performed it, apart from the vocal.

  • @CardiffBoy1927 Ian C wrote all the lyrics and often contributed to changing bass lines, guitar and drum music. It's no coincidence that musically, Joy Division are much more critically acclaimed than New Order

  • @DavidFrat123 - - Well, we can argue all day about who contributed what. I, personally, haven't read anything about Ian Curtis writing the music parts of the other members of the band. It's my understanding Bernard Sumner was the driving force behind the music with both Peter Hook and Stephen Morris being quite distinctive musicians in their own right. I don't agree with your second statement. Both bands, I would argue, have enjoyed critical acclaim throughout their respective tenures.

  • @CardiffBoy1927 nice quote to yourself ;p.

  • @elvensbane lol I know, bit of a Homer moment there !

  • @DavidFrat123 A cover by the same people who played the instruments of the original song?

  • @JediGTI new order decided to take on a completely different style than wen they were joy division. a new singer also makes a massive difference. In very many senses, new ceremony are a very different band to joy division, so it is very possible for them to do a cover version.

  • @doulkmochi dreams never end?

  • joy division joy division shut the fuck up

  • @betoqzd my friend LeonH153 will hunt you down and kill you for saying that

  • Perhaps i'm not yet mature enough to understand this. I can only partially understand the encrypted sentences in 'Leave me alone'.

  • The energy this song gives me I cant describe , long live the music !

  • this sounds familiar to the song they play in the apple store. im not sure if this is the one but it kinda sounds like this

  • @The808Prophet fuck you. leave.

  • @The808Prophet

    Hipster shit gtfo

  • Comment removed

  • 1000th like! FUCK YEAH!

  • well joy division came first

  • new order and joy division are the same band just with a new lead singer..

  • @Randomtones420 but the lack of Ian Curtis makes a MASSIVE difference. Once you loose a musical genius like that!!! His lyrics were way better than what New Order have came up with. No wonder Joy Division had much better songs!

  • Just a fantastic single from the post-punk era. It's unbelievable that this song only made 34 on the UK charts......

  • Marc Jonhson

  • 9 divided joy into divisions and didn't like it

  • Hey Paul,

they can; you just need to learn how to use them better

  • Love, love, love.....

  • just fuckin brilliant! love it! there would be no new order without joy division and vice versa....

  • @ledzeppunk7 Well, chronologically speaking there probably could have been a Joy Division without New Order...

  • jaja

  • This song beats ANY so-called No. 1 hit single in the recent chart.

  • @ml2001 Isn't that the truth!

  • @ml2001 : Without reservation, I absolutely agree. The question to be asked is how many years previous?

  • @ml2001 that goes without saying... it's like comparing a pack of sugar and a pack of s##t.

  • @ml2001 Agreed. However, this song would have to be played in movies meant for those 12-20 years of age.

  • fuck whatever commercial ruined this for me

  • @dklustick

yea, i know. it was some bottled water project of something...

  • Love this song !!!!

  • 9 ppl never got laid

  • @86freakish Please sh.

  • @86freakish Sorry, but that is one fucking lame insult. That's sad coming from a New Order fan.

  • @2PlayDead why :/

  • @86freakish well im 16, never been laid and still love this song/band. come at me bro.

  • Love this. Always did, always will.

  • I absolutelly love this song but I hate loooooong intros

  • use to have the double live LP entitled "Still". There the recording was live and Ian's vocals way down in the mix. Brilliant song

  • Didn't they have trouble re-recording this song because Ian Curtis never wrote down his lyrics

  • @JoPissvengance yeah, they only had really rough live recordings to decipher from, and even then I think they ended up rewriting the first verse because it was simply unintelligible.

  • ((((((MUSICCISUM))))))

  • so if this isnt one of the only two JD recordings, then where is this one from???

  • @carlo88moe This one is from New Order. If the song is complete, it is from New Order. If you hear a partial vocal and is low quality, it's from Joy Division.

  • very nice job...the visuals fit..5*****

  • i don't even like New Order and only really listen to Joy Division but this is one of the best songs i've ever heard. (by that i mean i like this version more than the original)

  • @rednapkins It is one of the greatest songs ever written. It makes me feel hopeless, helpless, yet invigorated and alive...cannot explain.

  • @theonlytruepunk i totally agree with you mate

  • It would be great if there was a clear and coherent version of Ian singing this

  • @alecahauf no way, part of the magic is its obscurity. not what he's saying, but the way he's saying it.

  • @gotfinnegan I've heard Joy Divisions veresion in fact I have it on one of my CD's but the sound quality is terrible and I just think it would be great if there was a better quality version of J.D. doing it. Bernard Sumner does it well but I think it would have been a great tribute to Ian Curtis if we had a good version of his last song.

  • @alecahauf IMO, this is a very good version. The best though is the 7" version which to me is perfect.

  • @canuck21 Is there a good live version with Ian singing, I dont believe there is or that a live was even recorded with Ian.

  • @alecahauf Yes, there's a live recording of Joy Division, but unfortunately the recording missed the first half of Ian's singing. Just do a search of "joy division ceremony live" on YouTube. There's also a rehearsal session and again, the sound isn't too good. For that one, search for "joy division ceremony rehearsal".

  • do you guys know that Ian sang this song for the first and the last time live before his death...it was exactly 31 years ago in Birmingham and that was the last show of Joy Division...

  • @condiesea your too hard headed to understand what im trying to say..

    -____- dumbass..

  • @YesterdaysBlur Ian Curtis killed Ian Curtis, you fuck knuckle.

  • @YesterdaysBlur he wanted to die, don't take that away from him

  • @beatles61 actually no he didn't. the story's quiet terrible. he hung himself. he didn't die instantly so he was strangling there and decided he didn't want to die so he manage to get down he crawled into the street and died there from a broken neck.

  • @condiersea really? i didn't know that (obviously) I always thought that he was found hanging. That makes the story so much sadder than it is, knowing he latter didn't want to die

  • @beatles61 this is what i heard. i forgot where i heard it form. but, sorry if this sounds terrible, i like to believe that what happened because to me it makes this song so much more eerie and sad.

  • @condiersea What a total pile of bullshit...

  • @YesterdaysBlur lmfaoo this actually made me laugh.

  • @YesterdaysBlur The band members of Joy Division were barely adults. They were in their early 20s living their dream and having fun; too young to see the big picture. Whatever problems Ian Curtis had was his own and he decided to kill himself. End of the story.

When you'll be older, you'll realize that you knew little of the world at age.

  • @canuck21 It's a little more complicated than that. Ian had a long history of depression and possible mental illness. When that's your state of mind, it's not as simple as "being too young to see the big picture".

  • @gotfinnegan I was talking about the other band members, not Ian.

  • check out ransley-in orbit.hes a good new solo artist.hes uploading more songs shortly...

  • Ian, Bernie, Stephen & Peter.

  • seems like those vocals were pretty audible to me

  • @automita1 This version was recorded by New Order with modified lyrics on the parts where ian's voice were only partially audible

  • they were relaced on record day on the same record

  • This song is forever.

  • play this on my burial

  • Makes the heart race. Ian could could isolate the beauty in desparation. Exhilarating, painful and an artist unlike anyone else.

  • Without a shimmer of a doubt one of the greatest songs of all time and a real credit to Ian's lost song writing- Something I feel the world really needs.

  • This is my favourite version.... you can hear the lyrics properly and it's really clean. I wish they would have recorded it properly with Ian, but I think New Order did a great job.

  • nice try

  • A personal favorite of mine. One of the best New Order songs ever. Cyprixx - agreed LOL :p

  • speaking(bitchinc)

this song has forever changed my life.

  • where did all these years go, this is my personal role model of the early 80's, long live the British 80's, where to have you evaporated?

  • Makes me wanna cry everytime! Love you Ian

  • Has there ever been a studio version of this song?

  • @astralislux Not before Ian Curtis' death.

  • Favorite song of all time. New Order influence almost every alt rock band out there.

  • The Vodka commercial was a total insult to this song! Come on, now!

  • Vodka is for amateurs. Whisky forever.

  • @MrVonRotten do you know what an amateur is? the actual definition? its someone who does something because they love it, rather than getting paid for it as a job.

  • @MrVonRotten i disagree. Gin is for professionals.

  • this tune is amazing after all these years it still sounds so fresh and cool

  • People are talking about how this song makes them happy. But I feel so sad when I hear this song. Don't know why :(

  • @akrotirifry9 Meloncholy, not sad.

  • @astralislux For me, it makes me feel sad not melancholy ;-)

  • Reminds me happy times that i still lived 'em yet, lil something i call....futurestalgic song hahahaha

  • This song doesnt need lyrics

  • This song is what music is about!! Long Live New Order/Joy Division!!!!

  • This song reminds of my happy times or my future loved one.

  • I love the tone of the guitars for some reason.

  • marc johnson

  • @mxwhitty ???

  • @movieonyoureyelids Spot on mate :)

  • This is why events unnerve me They find it all, a different story Notice whom for wheels are turning Turn again and turn towards this time All she asks the strength to hld me Then agains the same old story Word will travel oh so quickly Travel first and lean towards this time Oh Ill break them down no mercy shown Heaven knows its go to be this time Watching her these things she said The times she cried Too frail to wake this time

  • Listen to "Your hand in mine" by Explosions in the Sky. You won't regret it :).

  • @666thehazard

    Explosions in the Sky!!!!!

One of my favorite bands :)

  • New Order are fine by me, but they never made a better song than this one, imho.

  • @GaylordFocher Guess, you're right.

  • my son is 12 and he said when i die or you die
