  • Somewhat out of focus!

  • Do anyone out there know what website to go to buy a cheaper Canon XL2 Camcorder ?

  • Blurry & Fussy,,Not Feelin It!

  • i like the camera its just the quality is not meeting my expectations

  • I own a canon xl2, i cant get stuff shot like this? are you sure your not using other editing techniques?

  • usas el lente standard de la camara o tienes algun adaptador?

do you use the standard lens of the cam or use any adapter?

  • uso el lente standard de la camara

  • How much tweaking did you do in the editing room on most of this stuff? I'm finally somewhat impressed by what people are shooting with this camera but i want to see what it can do on its own. How highly would you recommend it?

  • well I had it for 5 years now and Im still getting a lot of work with it I shot with minimum settings all in manual so the rest is post. :-) and thats the way to do it

  • Geese, all in post huh. I could tell that there were some effects used, but I didn't realize how extensive. I have looked at the informational video on it on Canon's site and it looked like you could get a lot of amazing results before post. I'm just working with a zr700. From what I learn and some minimal experience, it's very limited what can be done in post production. What are the upsides to doing it like you do. There must be some other factors such as lighting that allow better editing.

  • Yes You can do amazing stuff just tweaking the settings of the camera but only if you don't want to do mush in post.

I prefer to shoot raw material and then work on it in the editing room. is just the way i do things, reason why is because raw material allow you to push the limits a little bit farther in post.

In this type of cameras the light is the most important factor is really want to achieve a film look.

    good luck

  • hey orlando ..sabia q yo encontaria alguien q le guste hacer lo mismo q a mi ..estoy pensando en una super pelicula y bueno si nos unieramos seria en cali

  • reel cool man!!

  • is that you in the video abusing your girlfriend?

  • hey orlando

Did you have to explode the speedboat??

    Hhahahahahaahah ;)

  • No I didn't for that shot I was working on TV soap-opera for latin america. they explode the boat.

  • how did you do the under water shot.

  • that pool had a window, so i set the camera ready and jumped in the pool.

  • great video and camera

  • lol nice

  • Orlando, I loved your work and quality. Thank you for your input regarding my questions.

Please check my videos and tell me what you may find good or bad.

Best Regards / Franco from York

  • That's a high quality cam. You've got quite a bit of talent for photography, as well.

  • thanks for your comments and for stopping by

  • what=why

  • what are half of the shots overexposed, the whole video looks like it is shot with like three different cameras

  • I like to overexposed, Why = Why Not? :-)

3 Different cameras? or 3 different looks? it depends of the eye of the beholder.

    thanks for stopping by

  • Artistic!

    mucha suerte

  • was this shot with PAL(25 frames) or NTSC(30 frames)?

  • chances are

    NTSC

  • Hi. Have you had any problems with the sound of the auto focus mecanism coming out on the video on playback?. I have the XL2 I bought a few days ago and you can hear the auto foucis churning away as it's focusing, never had any of this with Sony!!. Cheers

  • Never have this problem< I don't use auto focus, it's always better to use manual focus, try to get use to it you get better results if you set the camera to fully manual mode.

    cheers

  • i used to pick that up with the xl1s but not with my xl2, its a good thing really because it makes you use manual focus and zoom

  • if u dont have a focal point or your subject is not in the focal zone depending on your f-stop then your camera wont know what to focus on.Stick with manual u dont want your camera controlling you

  • Nice, that pool ball follow shot was cool!

  • That looks really nice. The movie 28 days later was shot on one of these cameras. We get to use them in my Media Tech class in school, and they are badass.

  • that was really cool good work

  • you blew shit up for a test video? I wish i ad that kind of money

  • the title dose not say test video it says stuff I shot with my camera, the production company paid for their explotion I was just doing camera.

  • ok, then...well your a badass. and I envy you greatly

  • No no no no... you are a badass. and I envy you greatly

  • hey...your work is very profesional...i like it...i have an xl2 myself...what lens are you using?

  • the lence that comes with the video camera

  • ur my hero

  • i want this camera so bad its unreal

  • Hey, that was awesome.

I have an XL2 and after looking at your shoots I am very please at what I have to look forward to, When I get more use to using my camera.

  • Have you had the chance to work with any of the HD Canons? I'm highly trained in post in Los Angeles, but I want a camera and I'm always hearing/using HD. I just need to know about the cameras. And I wish I had the $8k for the XLH1.

  • yes I have work with the Canon HD XL-H1 and I love it, I will be adding a fotage with this camera soon

  • awesome footage. Now I want to buy a XL2

  • Awesome reel! I was wondering though, in the pool scene what did you use for color correction? I like the whole look, and feel of that scene.

  • I color corrected in Final Cut, using blue green and blacks

  • very good work

  • nice...hey you seem to know cameras pretty good, im trying to choose between a XL2, Z1U, or V1U, i've done the research but i like them all alot, which one do you think i should go with?

  • at 25 seconds, can you tell me what settings you used? As well as the shot after that?

  • im just trying to find out what do you think is better the Xh a1 or xl2, Why?

  • Now i have the XL2, i'm finding it difficult to understand all the settings. Could you please explain to me what it means when the Shutter light comes on inside the viewfinder and what i should do to correct this. Also, another thing i really don't understand is why most people seem to have Frame Rates of 601,30p and 24p but with my xl2 my only frame rate options are 50i and 25p. Is mine a fake?

  • u have PAL XL2.. to get 24P u need a NTSC XL2....

  • no.. yours is the european version..

in North America, the standard frame rates are 60i, 30p and 24p. Its known as NTSC settings.. in europe, the standard is 50i and 25p, known as PAL settings..

if you live in the UK, or anywhere else in europe, you'll be fine. but if you bought that off the internet, and live in the states, its not too hard to convert, you just have to do a little bit extra work in editing

  • By standard the XL2 comes with either 60i, 30p and 24p (american standards) OR 50i and 25p (uk standards. You can have it modded by Canon to have the option for both sets of frame rates. Probably not cheap tho...

  • what kind of lens?

  • Then Canon XL2 lens that's it

  • Muy buenos Orlando, definitivamente muy buenos, animo hermano, adelante..!

    Tu Amigo en Texas.

  • This is great work. I have an xl2 for filming weddings and stuff but I am in the middle of writing a script to shoot next summer, I want the film look and just wondered if you use the 24fps setting? I have tried it but can't see too much difference, just wondered what you used. Great work, thanks.

  • there's a difference, just make sure you have good lights and use the long lence to get deep of field that will give an exellnet film look

  • and to think i own one

  • Thank you! I am a new XL2 owner. Let me tell you that your lighting is vey very good. The XL2, tha Panasonic ( I dont know the model number) all 3 CCD semi pro.. A young film makers dream. soon I will post mine.

  • is that chayanne??

  • yes that's chayan 2 years ago shooting a music video in miami

  • Ya, how did you get that explosion and such, did you do it just for this?

  • no thats a scene form a Latin soap opera, they pay for the stuff

  • I can't believe you crashed a boat, into a car??, then blew it up. I have a XL2, never thought it was capable of such imagery, thanks for convincing me otherwise.

  • Great video.

I really love the clip between the paintball and boat accident. How did you get the colors so bright? Did you adjust the hue settings in the xl2 or used a special camera lense?

  • the color look like that because of the ligth and then i pushed more on the editing proces, but the canon Xl2 was with regular setting and full color gain

  • very cool, I wanted the xl2 also but it was a litle to expensive so i bought the "Sony DSR pd 170" also a very good camera but I keep hungry for one like the xl 2, very nice shots ! you should meke some short films !! keep up the good work

  • thank you very much i really wanr to keep up the good work thanks for all your suport guys

  • Cool Video. Very well delivered

  • omg lovely i also want to do some documentaries in High Definitions and take some HD pics

  • thank you i hope to see your videos here very soon

    Good luck

  • Hey there,

I'd be interested to know where the music if from, otherwise how you created the music. It is really fitting for a profile-like presentation of your movie projects. Looks great.

  • thanks for your comments.

I created the music with some bits from GARAGE BAND and other effects and loops from ABLETON LIVE 5 softwares using this tools I compose the music thinking of the type of editing I want to do, so at the end everything fifts

  • very good work nice editing!!!

    i will de famous here

  • Wow... very well done. I'm saving for a camera and considering the XL2. This is the first thing I've seen on here that makes the prospect of making a feature actually doable. Thank you! Where did you learn lighting? (Or was most of it natural?) and what editing system do you use?

  • thanks for the comment, some videos are with natural light and other with tugsten ligths. I edith with a Powerbook G4 final cut 5 and I learn lighting by practicing just doing it the way I like it.
