Thank you for all the songs from Cold Mountain, I love this movie, even if the end breaks your heart......One of those ending, that takes a long time to accept, but very typical of the Civil War. W.P. Inman was a real person, with a civil war record!

Inman was one of Charles Frazier's (the writer of Cold Mountan the book) ancestors. He did exist, though most of the Cold Mountain book is fictional if not all of it.

@TheFuzzyBard I read the book and was preparing myself for his death at the end. But he doesn't die. They end up married and have a long life together. Not sad enough for the movie, I guess.
