  • @CorkyStJames check out caper.."how would you like to be me"? he is talented new rap artist that tells amazing stories about his Aboriginal and life experiences .. also does a lot of work in community raising awareness and social conscience..

  • legendary australian song

  • in cod this would be refered to as a "360 dropshot noscope"

  • When did music cease to be something we feel in the unnameable depths of our souls? When did it become a simple commodity to sell in the name of money?

    After this song.

  • @Chalis26 about the same time they invented record companies and multinational corporations

  • A gutsy indictment of Australia's human rights record that needed to be heard, and all Australians must set the record straight so that they may move on.

  • Legendary prophesy....

  • Video Hitz lol i remember When lol

  • This is what Australia is about, white and black coming together!!!!

  • I remember cranking the TV up to full blast when this video would come on MTV. Back then MTV played music videos (novel concept eh?) and they played almost all alternative music. What an awesome time to be around.

  • i must agree - i'm 23 and loathe contemporary rock music. the 80s rock scene was just amazing. shame i didn't get to experience it first hand.

  • During my young teenage years-the 80's- Oz Rock made more of an impression to me now(Im in my late 40's)than all the US/UK hits.

  • the tune tune of this is soooo catchy, it's the best

  • Greats!!! I remember my young state of surf!!! Thank's Pepe Alonso and Adela Bas from Goanna Pub in Tapia de Casariego, Spain

    Always in my memory!

  • Incredible song, along with some of Redgum's great tracks makes me wonder why Midnight Oil are the only protest band remembered most of the time. I hope all those people proud to be Australian are appropriately ashamed of how a lot of us got here. As for people saying Australia is still being invaded I fucking hope you're not referring to the handful of refugees who've been used as a permanent political football. Let's hope between Miley and the rest the protest song never fades away.

  • Proud to be Aussie!

  • listen to tha street warriors version of this song. its to deadly cuz feat shannon noll.

  • Probably the only Australian band with the balls to call a spade a spade - Genocide through and through. One shining, bright day, I really hope we can move forward altogether, not just Aboriginals and Whites, but Reds, Browns, Yellows, Pinks, Greens and Purples. One.

  • Bloody awesome mate, Thanks

  • GReat Song!!

  • Great song, Great word, Great land, we do live on sacred ground and Oz is still being invaded.

  • @caskur1

    Invaded by whom?

White man is only a guest. 200 years is nothing compared to over 150,000.

  • The song is great, but those back up singers of the chorus make the song epic!!!!!

  • only the greatest country !!!!!!!!!!

  • I moved from Australia to Turkey, my parent's homeland when I was about six. I've never felt so out of place here. I miss Australia so much :( I feel so disconnected from home, because after all, home is where the heart is, and my heart is in Australia. I know what the song's lyrics try to deal with, but I can't help but love and miss Australia :( This song for me is the embodiment of all of that. Such an amazing song.

  • OMG Why oh why did I not see the power in these words when I was 17, sosososo powerful, come back!

  • shane howard is my mate's brother in law

  • cool

  • You tosser! That isn't an AFL jersey, it is a VFL jersey (Victorian Football League). Andrew Dim ee tree oo was still in nappies when this clip was made way back when football players where men and didn't have pansy managers soothing their egos.

  • its amazing how well aussie rock from this era has aged so well. Way ahead of its time...we didn't really know how good it was at the time. Everybody I knew was always yearning for dance music imports and r&b imports.

  • hah the singer is using Bruce Springsteens guitar!!!!!!!!!

  • A fine fine song. Its inspiration really did chart Shane's life and values thereafter... Good on him

  • 1982 solid rock, you know, nothing realy changes out here; aint that the truth............

    as for the flag!

we have a union jack and add that an aboriginal flag of red, yellow and black

yet when on the world stage of sports we wear green and gold... Go Figure!!!!

  • @bubanee More than half the colours of the rainbow, that's some metaphysical signature of the life of this country. We're more than lucky, man we're blessed!! No wonder there's boatloads of people rushing to get here! Thank Christ for Australia!!!

  • Wowwowwow! Wish I could give this song ten thumbs up to express how powerful and moving and C0OL it was to me. But then, I'm not sure if I really want ten thumb..Anyway.THE SONG IS STRONG! (usa voice here)

  • lol watchin this in geography class

  • How many bogans sing this song not thinking for one minute about the lyrics they're singing..many would be horrified..!!!

  • @camfay77 the only comment in here that is in the right place . Song is a great song of different dimensions ...its a sad truth of Australian history. Still we live in the best country under this sky.

  • @whitetooth good for you to think you live in the best country under this sky. ahah, sometimes ignorance is real bliss.. i wish i was that lucky!... great song from a great decade anyway

  • one of the greatest aussie songs ever made........

  • Shane Howard's new CD "Goanna Dreaming" is out now, went to the CD launch tonight, was a 15 minute version of this song with Archie Roach.

  • @TimChuma No shit? Thanks for the info! I'll spread the word.

  • Whenever I hear the backing vocals it reminds me of being home 20 years ago. Its a magical song to every Australian.. Politics aside, nothing more

  • Comment removed

  • Wow!

  • i have to say that i dont mind the union jack on our flag ,remembering that our brave men and woman in ww2 died for this flag . I think its the hight to disrespect to think that we can just change it knowing that thousauds died for it.

  • @MrQueensland100

and the hundreds of thousands of people who died (at home and abroad) for what the union jack stands for don't rate a mention?

  • Back up vocalist is so intense ! Great song.

  • new australian anthem i reckon

  • HILARIOUS

  • for real people i heard this song once in the summer of 82 or 83 driving from my new house to my old house with my older brother in the summer ... and i didnt hear it again till a few days ago i never forgot this song or the name of the band and when i got the net i looked for this song im 41 i was 13 or 14 when i heard it wow its funny what sticks in your head i can still feel the sting of my hair hitting my face while riding in the jeep with the top off

  • im 12 and i love this song !!!

  • HILARIOUS!

  • @sdthird10 HILARIOUS!

  • @kumagamesclan hilarious le mo yeeeeeeee

  • boring

  • this is true SOLID ROCK :) /watch?v=DFKIqun4pkU

  • Lol we white people are proud of our culture, our heritage, and our freedom, sure we mistreated a few abbo's in the past, but we havent hooked them in chains, they are free to do what they want, why should or government support them and give them financial benefits when poor disadvantaged white kids can't go to university simply because of money?! It stinks!

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy lol mate. i think you should go to school again. or read a history book. ur a bit of an idiot. extremely white way of thinking. if ur only 12 then il forgive u. lol.

  • @ImTheMetal I'm actually 20. And i'm only stating what i believe! White Australians deserve as much rights as any other race of people!

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy yeah im not disputing that. u DEFINATELY need to go back to school. ur arguements are terrible mate. lol. we DID hook them in chains. seen the pictures? some of the most influential in australias history? only in 1960 were they even recognized as people! before then they were fauna. they were fuckin mistreated to the extreme. L2 history then reply.

  • @ImTheMetal Lol the sad part is i could put you through SCHOOL on the so-called "facts" that you are trying to present to me. I Am aware of our past, and all i am saying is that now they are free, and so are we, and we white australians are now going to start defending our heritage and freedom as is everybody else! White Power!

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy - so does that mean that you wouldn't like it if someone forcibly removed you from what you consider to be your rightful home with no way or chance of ever returning? I guess you also wouldn't like it if you were then forced to live in a way that was totally alien to you ...made to speak another language, dress differently, act differently and continually told that everything about you is bad and that you are no better than an animal?

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy Big talk from someone who knows that they'll never have to experience anything like that in their lifetime. At 20years old I think you'd be pretty scarred emotionally and mentally if you survived at all.

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy

Lol silly boy. If you want as many rights as Aboriginals you better give up a whole lot then. And give up your granny and mum too.

  • Comment removed

  • @1993DJC How do you know that the Aboriginals get lower punishments for crimes than anyone else?

Anyone who argues by saying that "anyone who disagrees with me is blind" is not actually able to argue his point properly, whatever that point may be. Read some history real history, not just media garbage

  • Comment removed

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy

    "simply bacause of money"

you really seem to be grasping the issue

  • @GentileBlueEyedBoy

The only reason you ask "Why" is because you don't know anything real about the past...just a bunch of cliches

  • this song rocks!

  • hahaha the drummer is wearing an afl jersey!

  • @rixman12 - Thats the height of fashion.

  • @rixman12 That is a VFL jumper mate. It was the VFL back then.

  • @mddawson1 No, That's 100% Aussie :)

  • @mddawson1 A VFL jersey i think.

  • @mddawson1 A VFL jersey i think.

  • @rixman12 VFL to be precise, Afl didnt exist back then because it was only played in victoria. VFL = victorian football legue

  • @rixman12 actually if you look at the number it was 27, Simon Madden from Essendon

  • @rixman12 Australians don't wear jerseys! They wear jumpers! When swimming, they wear bathers!

  • Oz sound is truly unique.

  • LOL yeah great music back in the 80's but the moves they put out were pretty gay and the clothing is something id rather forget about my times in the 80's hahaha

  • musica chataaaaa

  • just a fantabulous song!!!!!!!!!

  • this reminds me alot of midnight oil style songs, wicked song love it heaps

  • The best Aussie song of all time.....Whether you agree with the message or not makes no difference....It's just a great fricken song!!

  • @giveittodidak Yep, is there a message? Pfffft, who cares, rock on.

  • Typical!!! Racism on an Aussi site!!!

    GREAT MUSIC!! GREAT SONG!!

  • There is more evidence to support the idea that anything worthwhile is being destroyed by white boys/girls.

Compare the amount of degeneration of the Australian ecosystem in 200 years, with that during the preceding 170 000 + years .

The principle of the airfoil, the shape of the wing of modern aircraft, was discovered thousands of years before the Wright brothers were born.

It is what is in a person's heart that makes them worthwhile; look into yours.
