  • None of this really matters if Weezer records the Track cause Weezer is a Poppy band with edge they just have to dull the edge a bit to get into 80's mode

  • Sorry that was poorly stated Weezer is Hard and edgy but they have an upbeat poplike feel to the songs except "Say it aint so" and "In the Garage" those 2 songs are just hard edge no poppy

  • I just see adding any excessive sort of fuzz/crunch/dirt/grit/etc. to the guitars/bass/whatever will just take away from the original 'fun, poppy' vibe the song was supposed to establish.

The title "80's radio," isn't a great basis to try and use to determine the vibe of how the song 'should' sound. The Beastie Boys might be the 80's to someone, while Rick Astley, or Guns N' Roses could be the 80's to someone else.

  • well no one under the age of 30 is going to know what 80's pop was the 80's were all about top 40 radio i went back and listened to those songs I listed and they have a third thing in common lots of synth except roxanne which was actually a 70's song (my bad) but anyway the police helped define the sound of the 80's not asking for like death metal distortion just some crunch oh and btw Guns N ROses was a 90's band : )

  • Appetite for Destruction came out in '87. They were still around in the 90's, but Appetite for Destruction basically IS Guns N' Roses.

  • sorry you're right

  • Some Movies for 80's reference First Blood Aliens Terminator Fast Times at Ridgemont High War Games Trading Places 48 Hours Moscow on the Hudson Raiders of the Lost Ark Gremlins Return of the Jedi Ghost Busters Brubaker
  • Isn't this song supposed to be poppy?

  • was the Police's Roxanne a Popular Radio song

how about Dire Straits Money for nothing, Prince's When doves cry, The Cars You might think

last but ot least Michael Jacksons Beat it I'll give you 3 guesses who played guitar on that track

all these songs have 2 things in common the were all top 40 songs and......

  • THer were a variety of different sound ing groups in the 80's

i mean you had Madonna, U2, the Fixx, Duran Duran, Cyndi Lauper, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, Sade, Culture Club, Wang Chung, Howard Jones Van Halen, etc etc is there a commonality there?

  • yea, I like the "crunchier" style of music more than the "clean" style, too. But I think the point of this was to make a very clean, happy sounding song. :/

  • yeah it gets a little crunchy towards the end it does not need a lot of cruch/Dirt just alittle dirt under the fingernails action ya know

seems like most of the ppl helping only saw the 80's in diapers if at all lol
