Rush said some things most don't like to admit. The "state run" media will not challenge Obama or any top liberal on anything. The fact is, the liberal teachers at our institutions, the media, socialist polititians will all want you to think America was, and is evil. Besides, even if he was serious and it was true, how would that be a bad thing?
Muslims make up 0.6% of our population. Sharia Law and Muslim philosophy had virtually no influence on the founding of our country. His statement was simply factually inaccurate.
Instead of just saying "correction" I believe the appropriate phrase you are looking for is "I'm sorry" and that it was wrong of you to say you're "no better than the partisan hackjobs of Fox".

Reports have shown that most people in the world who listened to Obama's speech approved of it. Of course, the speech will be belittled by extremists and "Republicans". Funny how that works out.
Exactly. So maybe it would be a good idea to start interacting with all those people in a respectful manner, which would be in our own security interests, instead of continuing the previous 8 years of playing bully-of-the-schoolyard. Because no one likes a bully.
Yeah we are the bullies. We aren't the ones flying airplanes into buildings. We aren't the ones stoning people. We aren't the ones cutting off peoples heads in public. We actually allow Islam to be peacefully practiced here in the US. How many Synagogues are in Saudi Arabia? NONE.
"We aren't the ones flying airplanes into buildings. We aren't the ones stoning people. We aren't the ones cutting off peoples heads in public."
Neither is MOST of the Muslim world. Same way MOST Americans aren't in favor of staying in Iraq, torturing people, killing abortion providers or listening to Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity.
...and "You hit me, so I hit you, your family, your friends, and some of the people just standing nearby" is being a bully.
But... butt... Bush wasn't a REAL Republican!!! Of course until you actually discuss Bush's policies and realize that not one of these people who deny Bush actually DISAGREE with any of them.
Then you had that imbecile (or liar) Megyn Kelly assert on air that Obama not once discussed terrorism in his speech. It's remarkable that the Obama hate runs so high on FOX that they just make up stuff that can easily be refuted with videotape but then again, they know that their dittohead viewers who also hate 24/7, will simply swallow every lie and ask for seconds.
Megyn Kelly was correct in asserting that Obama did not mention terrorism in his speech. He did not use the words terror, terrorist or terrorism.
You claim that this can be easily refuted with video tape, so please do. Show us where Obama used the words terror, terrorist or terrorism in his Cairo speech.
What you and FOX are doing is using semantics to propagate a LIE. Here's what Obama said:
The 1st issue that we have to confront is violent extremism in all of its forms.
America is not and never will be at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children.
So FOX is just pissed he didn't use the word "terror"?
none of us should tolerate these extremists. They have killed in many countries. They have killed people of different faiths more than any other, they have killed Muslims. Their actions are irreconcilable with the rights of human beings, the progress of nations, and with Islam.
So the rights BIG BEEF is that he didn't use the word terror? So what was Obama talking about in all those quotes then? Golfing? Because he didn't use the word "terror"?
This is the same kind of idiocy that makes that Hasselback dimwit on The View assert with all confidence (because she heard Rush say it) that obama not once mentioned democracy in his Cairo speech. One only needed to um.. WATCH the damn thing (or just play back the tape alongside her stupid assertion) to realize that these right wingers are either liars or just retarded. Or a combination of both.
Another example of Hannity's "fair and balanced" reporting. Right wingers seem to just eat up hateful lies.
President Obama:
We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation, or a Jewish nation, or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens, who are bound by ideals.
Sean Hannity:
The same president who insists the U.S. is not a Christian nation is now calling us a Muslim nation.
and they recoil from facts like vampires to sunlight.
Obama did say the US is one of the largest countries in the Muslim world. Sorry, that statement is dumber than anything Bush ever said. Obama is just not the person you voted for, you'll realize it eventually.
Are right wingers really this dense? He didn't CALL the U.S. A Muslim nation, He just made a point of saying that we have more Muslims here than most countries.
Geez. If Obama phrased it like you and Hannity (and Rush) do, then you'd have a point. But he didn't. He said "We'd be" , not "we are". There is a BIG difference. but all you right wingers, so enthralled in your hate and fear, cling to any nonsense tossed your way by these liars on FOX.
BTW "Middle East Apology tour"? Wow. nice original thought there man. There usually isn't an inch of daylight between what the average right winger says and what is being played to them on FOX or on Rush.
If you truly believe that, then you're either misinformed or an idiot. The fact that people, when discussing political issues, use popular buzz words and phrases does not in any way exhibit an inability on their part to think for themselves. Are you seriously suggesting that you're immune to occasionally parroting the remarks of popular political pundits with which you agree? If so then you'd be the first politically-minded person I've ever come across who was.
He said "If you actually took the number of muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest muslim countries in the world." One of the largest muslim countries in the world? More muslim than saudi arabia? Sounds like he's calling the U.S. a muslim country, and he gives us an idea of his capacity to think. You don't seem to have the capacity to think either; your argument is invalid. Formulate something intelligent to say, and maybe people will take you seriously.
whomod - In case English isn't your first language I'll give you some help.
The sentence "we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world" refers to the USA as a Muslim Country if you quantify it by the number of Muslims here. Meaning we are the largest Muslim country.
But also, put that into context with the statements he made that the USA is NOT a Christian nation (and yes, he said it more than once, and not as part of "not a Jewish or Muslim" nation)

America is not and never will be at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children.
So FOX is just pissed he didn't use the word "terror"?

more..
Obama:
none of us should tolerate these extremists.
Absolute stupidity!

No, you're the one claiming Fox lied, when they didn't. I could care less whether you think the President should call a terrorist a terroist or not.
I'm just correcting your gross misstatement and unfounded accusation.

No. One of your liar propagandists who you blindly believe said that. In fact it sounds a lot like what I quoted Sean Hannity saying.
There is a difference between hearing what Obama actually said and BELIEVING what the FOX liars tell you.
whomod 2 years ago
No, in his actual speech that day he says the words..."the US is one of the largest countries in the Muslim world." It's a fact.

Here's some recent pearls of wisdom and "fair and balanced" reporting from Sean Hannity regarding Obama's comments, in their own words:
President Obama:
If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, wed be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.
Sean Hannity:
He honors the national day of prayer behind closed doors. Now, on his Middle East apology tour, the President calls the U.S. a "Muslim nation."
Wow. What Hannity said is a flat out LIE! Big surprise there.
whomod 2 years ago
How is what Hannity said a lie?
You just proved yourself wrong, by stating the following:
"President Obama:
If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, wed be one of the largest [m]uslim countries in the world.
Sean Hannity:
He honors the national day of prayer behind closed doors. Now, on his Middle East apology tour, the President calls the U.S. a "[m]uslim nation." "
Saying that "we'd be one of the largest muslim countries in the world" is calling the U.S. a muslim nation.
quantummechanic90 2 years ago

I think what he said is clear.
