@noanimalcruelty67 This was on the south coast of Spain, near Mazzaron. I believe it was an Italian circus. There are literally hundreds of small, pathetic little Italian traveling roadshows like this one touring around Europe, and I'm sure many from other countries also. It's funny you ask about rescues because inside that horrible truck next to these animals was a very sad looking captive baboon who was rescued shortly after I took a video of him (see my other videos by journeyman47).
This crap is no different than what goes in America, Ringling Bros and all other animal circuses should be shut down immediately! The way these animals are treated is cruel and sick and belongs in the 18th century, not in the 21st! Ban the circus in America now!!!
There are new studies presented in Psychology Today(I have to look up the article that people who use animals in this manner have something wrong with their brains. This causes them to lack the capacity to feel empathy for other living creatures.
im sure this circus was in alcudia mallorca spain this june it was called circus roma,, and was appalled to see a hippo tied up 3 lionesses and 2 tigers in a small pen and they did not look lively at all, as young childred proberbly belonged to the circus, were playing near by them,, i would advise anyone not to go to this circus when visiting spain,, its apalling that they can get away with this,, a hippo should be in water not a circus .j green
Many provinces in Spain have started to ban animal circuses some years ago. It's a good start but it's a slow process until finally we can get rid of shameful entertainments as these.
It's been 3 years since this video was posted. i wonder how these animals are doing now.. I just wish they were already rescued and living a peaceful life.
@bugsbabybelle Yeah, I hope they are doing ok too. But unfortunately, they are probably still being held captive and forced to perform unnatural tricks for witless customers, just as thousands of animals in hundreds of other circuses all over the world are.
The good news: since then, India and Bolivia have banned ALL circuses from using wild animals in them! It's a good start!
Sloofus: Exactly. Elephants are not people. Therefore they don't belong in some crappy circus in Spain, they belong in Africa or Asia (depending on which species). Only people imprison other species of animals for "entertainment". So you're right: they are not people... they are MUCH more civilized!
Oh, and as for "making people happy"... if you read most of the comments below, you can see how appalled they were to see this... how "happy" do you think it made them? Who's "smiling" now?
@sloofuss HAHAHA!! I'm gonna chain you to a pole, give you mud to drink, let you sit in your own feces, and give you dust to eat. How nice does that sound?!
@sloofuss smiles? if there are smiles they are ones from cruel bastards! we may be higher on the food chain but even so they are not our personal slaves for entertainment! I thought that was stopped but there are still people like you!
@sloofuss Your an idiot. I would be more happy seeing them happier in a safe zoo. Or better yet. Going to africa and seeing them in the wild.... And no, they arent people. Their lives are way more valuable than a persons... All fucking humans do are murder, abuse, and neglect animals for stupid fucking little 15 minute show? Fuck that. And yes, Circus makes everybody happy. You see those people in all the comments below? They are fucking gitty... Fuck off, troll.
how can they do this to the inisent? how cruel are they only have a bucket thats not enough to drink and it must be hot there what are they going to drink
poor animals.. i'll keep it in mind what u said about circuses. next time i see one, i'll keep my eyes open! but i live in sweden, do u think they usually do this over here too?
jenny: yes, all circuses that use animals are inherently cruel, since they cannot provide the natural environments that wild animals need. Moreover, they tear babies (especially elephants) away from their mothers at great distress, and beat them into submission, training them to perform stupid tricks by domination and fear.
ALL circuses do this. Even Ringling Bros, maybe the biggest in the world, was just caught on video still practicing these cruel and abusive methods
berenisse: Good for you for protesting circuses. What country are you in?
You're right, I should have talked to the owner of the circus, but as he makes a living off of exploiting his animals, I'm sure a talk would have done no good.
I am a licensed and registered veterinary technician. I know eye infections when I see them. She was NOT sleeping, as you can clearly see in the video, she was blinking painfully and, although you can't see closely in the video, I could clearly see that there was a problem with it.
I have studied animals all my life, and certainly have more "frame of reference" than my footage. After all, I was there in person for a lot longer than two minutes.
It's kind of the "cultural achievment" of our society, that it is able and also actually making the lifes of animals like hell. I don't understand why it happens, but it happens.
the circuses are the most fucking , asinine , silly, stupid, foolish, fool, dumb, bozo , jerks , dimwit, nitwit , idiot, ,dopey , wankers in the WORLD ..here in greece has been the same
pointless video? Are you serious? how do you make an elephant stand on his back feet? have you ever seen the back of an elephants ears in a circus? Sensitive nerves are located at the back of their ears, they use razors to shave most of the skin and hit them to push them do the tricks. I've been in a circus, i was ignorant, uneducated and unaware of what i was witnessing. Its better to educate ourselves, to protect and help the weak and less capable.
Yes, Noah's Arc, a dog rescue organization in Mazzeron reported the circus, but unfortunately they were doing nothing illegal according to Spain's weak animal welfare laws. There was nothing we could do.
Please spread the word to everyone you know to never, ever go to a circus with animals, as this is the kind of abuse and neglect you support when you do.
and workers being abused....hmmm well they are all eastern blok so when they go home they are rich.and they work cheaper then locol people not just circus.i am sure alot of people lost ther jobs coz of thes workers.
hey guys y dont every body choose what they want i dont care of any of this stuff i like circus animals are not my fave but some are great but becous of you people its harder for circus people to have animals so it would be harder for them to be cared for.how about you all donate to animal circuses so they can get the best stuff for them.
Excuse me but: elephants in the wild often roll in mud to stay cool. You say "she" looks sad. How can you project human emotions onto an elephant? You used the right word, she "looks" sad, that doesn't mean she is. Perhaps you stopped by the elephant area when it was the heat of day when they prefer to rest and slow down their metabolism. How about protesting the destruction of natural habitat of elephants, and how about the abuse of circus workers...huh?!
When you have worked with and owned and loved animals all your life like I have, you learn to read their emotions from their body language. Depression, joy, fear, etc... all easy to see. And I see depression with this lady.
As for "abuse of circus workers"; I don't know what you're talking about. But if they're getting "abused" by the owners, they can always quit. The nonhuman performers don't have that choice.
I don't OWN any animals, though I have been the caregiver/provider for horses, dogs, llamas & cats.
You should work on a circus crew, you would know first-hand what human-abuse is like. No, not all of them can just quit. They indentured servants: payed poorly, overcharged for housing & meals, often in debt to loan sharks that prey on circus workers. I never met a PETA member who has traveled with a circus. I am not defending all circuses. I am just giving a direct report of what I observed.
Of course circus workers don't own the animals, the circus owners do-- the ones responsible for the health and well-being of the very animals who make them money-- and betray that trust by exploiting and abusing them.
And I feel sorry for the circus crews down on their luck, but this video has nothing to do with them. I filmed some animals and that's all.
And just because you "never met a PETA member who traveled with a circus" doesn't mean they and others don't know all about them.
What a miserable life. Please boycott all circuses and entertainment that uses animals. These poor animals are forced to sleep and eat in the same small space where they defecate and urinate. Constantly moved from location to location and forced to do unnatural tricks. Everyone can help by not giving money to businesses that use animals and telling your friends and family. We can stop this cruelty one person at a time. Tell your friends and family.
Not sure if my last comment worked so just wanted to let you know about the Federal Lawsuit against Ringling Brothers in Washington DC is set to begin the 20th of this month. You may already know, just thought i would pass on the info. I have a link to a video of Ring. Brothers spokesman saying "elephants perform tricks in the wild, sitting in rows of 14 on their bottoms and they also stand on their heads as natural behavior". Ludicrous! One more step in helping these amazing animals!
Wow, that's great news. I hope this time the Ringling Bros. corporation doesn't buy its way out of its cruelty for once. Thanks for the info, and I'll be looking for news on that lawsuit! (Of course, with all their millions, Ringling will probably drag it out for years....)
Yes, they were miserable, especially the elephant and the baboon. You could see it in their faces. Circuses cause massive misery to fellow animals all around the world. Please don't support them.
Thanks for your comment and please help spread the message.
Even if their elephant were for sale I couldn't afford it, I would have LOVED to buy and rescue him.
As for "starving people" in Spain, I never heard of any. Where are they? Why are they starving? I see you are from the United Arab Emirates. Do you have starving people in your country? If so, do you ever donate to them, help them, go film them? Or in other countries?
Also, if people stop spending money on circuses, they'll have more money and time to donate to charities, including poverty.
Poor, poor animals. I hope that an animalprotection organisation will save her. Animalcruelty is everywhere, some countries more than another like China. But also in mass industry. Animalabuse makes me feel sick. I hope that the people who do this will pay for it soon. Watch; earthlings.
Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate you watching. Yes, I hope he is rescued some day too. Hopefully my British friends in Spain can get hold of someone there to help him. Keep your fingers crossed!
Thanks! I wish I could have stayed to film more; unfortunately I was just visiting and staying with friends who had to drive me there. If it were near me I would have hung around a lot longer and watched for any other stuff to film. Of course, I could have seen the show and filmed the no-doubt pathetic acts that were surely a sad travesty of entertainment (not due to the animals' fault, of course) but I would never pay a penny to support this kind of crap.
You know, that's a great question: I have no idea if there's an elephant sanctuary in Europe. I think England has a good preserve north of London, I don't know if it includes elephants. I'll have to check that out. I'm actually on my way to London today, so maybe I can even visit! If I do maybe I'll show them my vid!
thanx for what u do-did u talk to the owners a little bit.....about giving them water and washing them-and the camels look too thin and hungry.....and sick, for that mater....ONE LOVE.
Yes, the camels did look thin, come to think of it. Anyway, to my regret, I didn't say anything to the people giving each other haircuts after I filmed this. I wanted to, but didn't for some reason. when I went back the next time I was going to but there was no one around, and the water bucket was ok. And they were seen hosing down the elephant, so that's at least something. It still sucks though, and next time I will say something no matter what.
Yes, they do look drugged, but I don't think they were. For one thing, drugging an elephant is very expensive, not something a little circus is going to pay for. Also having been a veterinary technician for 15 years I believe they (especially the elephant) were depressed and bored. The poor elephant looks like he has given up on hope. I would love to see him taken to the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand and put under the loving care of the staff and other elephants there. That would be great!
What a sad circus life for these animals that are being used for sick people's entertainments and being used for money. :(

if this is a working circus it will get washed.

Thanks for your comments.

they look drugged.
