Yikes - that was a long trip. You could have done that in a much shorter time if you chose another airline. Even with the OneWorld alliance Cathay Pacific would have got you London to Hong Kong then non-stop to Auckland. Air New Zealand / Star Alliance would get you thru Los Angeles or Hong Kong non stop Auckland with one hour transit times in about 23 hours.
origin8 !! Thanks for your comments. They were very much appreciated. Next year I am going with Air New Zealand and they go Glasgow to Auckland via London and Los Angeles. On the return trip I go Auckland to Glasgow via Hong Kong and London. Not sure at this stage of travel times but it will be interesting to go with a different airline and by the western route, right round the world. Thanks again !!
