lol you all except dave to be a god or something... hes a human being, he isnt going to be perfect so shut the hell up and just enjoy his music and not try to pick out everyone of his damn mistakes.
Those of you who are SO certain he's drunk/high, watch the whole Benaroya performance. He mentions being sick and there's a guy brining him tea, which he jokes is so hot it burns his throat and makes his voice worse. Ever go to work sick? No one is on top their game when they are not feeling well.
I hate to play the role of resident Dave expert, but I've spent an insane amount of time following him and this band. He is most certainly NOT high/drunk during this performance. He's certainly been under the influence during a lot of concerts (mainly early-mid 90's performances), but that behavior has been rare the last decade. He is noticeably (and he's mentioned this before in numerous interviews) nervous and anxious sometimes, but don't misinterpret that has intoxicated/high.
Trust me, you know when Dave is DRUNK. He played during a set break at an Agents of Good Root sort of party and and he had no problem letting you know he was gone. He is not drunk at this show.
Dave was probably thoroughly disappointed with this performance. For those he say he wasn't wasted, watch the whole show. I love this song, the man, and even this version, but even he will tell you this is not his best.
same, all i play is him and o.a.r...but overall him a lot more. hes all i basically have been listening to for a year and a half now..im actually doing this song for the talent show. but tim and dave version!
Dave never plays wasted. He himself said a couple years back in an interview that it bothers him how people always think he's smoking when he plays. I mean come on, he's always got a mug full of tea at most of his shows.
Yes, I've heard the audio of Dave wasted, but any of that is all in the mid and early 90's, when Dave was still into some pretty heavy drugs, which are no longer a part of his life. I'm sure he drinks occasionally, but aside from maybe The Central Park Concert, Dave is clean.
Probably my favorite non-full band #41. I love how Dave recovers on this song. Makes it better. His recovery is so full of emotion that it's just unbelievable and mind-blowing.
@BigVaulter1991 Anybody with me on the idea that Tim is really under-doing his solos when he plays with Dave in the last 7 years? Whathappened to the winthrop college Tim? Or is it that the songs they do now dont have room for solos? I am a huge fan of both artists, one for all all for one. I just havent seen many great solos from Tim with Dave lately. Except the encore set on the radio city music gig. two step was off the hook!
its a taylor 914ce limited edition with the cindy inlay. I was lucky enough to come across and purchase one. One of the best sounding guitars i have ever played.
I like listen to this song ever day when I am at work. You tube is the best for when you work in a loud office and are trying to get work done. Dave's music is such a stress reliever.
@computercanada I can see how people who are unfamiliar with Dave could think he's high. But those familiar with Dave understand he is a little eccentric and maybe even "goofy" as most immensely talented people are. Even Dave himself said years ago that when he first saw a video recording of himself playing he was like "Holy shit! Do I really dance like that and make those goofy faces!?" Thankfully for us he didn't let it stop him. Thankfully for him most of us aren't judgemental douches.
I cant figure out why this song just makes sooooo much sense to me. And as Crush1998 said, I too cannot play certain chord progressions and theory stuff, but I learned this, it was mandatory. I didnt realize he was kind of freestyling the lyrics, until I looked them up, as I am not hugely familiar with DMB's work. great great song. Is it true that this song is about a bandmate of his?
Its about a man that helped him write some songs and tryed to take the rights too them. He was a huge mentor to Dave. The song was originally called "41 Police". There should be a video of that on youtube somewhere.
He completely messed the 2nd verse up. He started singing the chorus from the 1st verse and couldnt transition into the 2nd verse, ahaha... i love it when he does that and then just makes up a bunch of jibberish to fill it in with
Yep, he had a couple of mix ups for this show. During Bartender he started playing the "This Land Is Your Land" interpolation even though he only does that with Don't Drink The Water.
lol you all except dave to be a god or something... hes a human being, he isnt going to be perfect so shut the hell up and just enjoy his music and not try to pick out everyone of his damn mistakes.
