its no girls at all in Tölzer knabenchor. Because knaben means boys. Its a boyschoir. No girls allowed. Oh, just one girl has been in the choir in the early 80, and that was the doughter of the man whos started the choir. Perhaps you think the children with long hair is girls, but they arent, they are just boys with long hair.

superb, both the choir and the orchestra. the runs were quite clean. those trombone players can really move! The choir puts so much energy into this piece, it's great.

Well,they just play it very well .Only thing is the soundquality of the video is very poor so it looks like the orchestra is to loud.

And here it is kids who is singing, so the orchestra must be much more carefull with the sound. Boys voices are not like a adults voices. But I think they are pretty strong here and they sounds really good. I want too hear more from this consert. Please???

Plus the orchestra isn't playing with period instruments. Period/replica instruments would help the balance since they're not as loud and more transparent in sound. The voices shouldn't be heard "OVER" the orchestra though- there has to be a balance between the two; the orchestra needs must be there to provide "commentary" (for lack of a better word), and can't be written off as an afterthought.

do you not suspect the balance difficulty is is with the recording? Also, if this is a live concert, perhaps the recording engineers are not able to realise optimum mic placement. I have noticed that situation in at least one of the HARNONCOURT / TOLZER videos; the BWV 245, St John Passion DVD where alto Christian Immler could be well heard as a soloist but the choir/orchestra mix was off it seemed that the mic placement was of secondary interest. Any suggestions regarding this?
