For everyone getting error 20, make sure you have two things

1) make sure you're using itunes 7.5

2) make sure you're ACTUALLY in DFU mode and not recovery mode. In DFU mode you should see NOTHING on the screen. There should be no itunes with a plug, it should just be black.  DFU is an unrecoverable mode of your ipod. Once you're in DFU, you can't get out without reinstalling the firmware.

You have to time the button holding PERFECTLY to get into DFU and not "recovery."
