  • Ty for your energy...people seek..vs being guided and trust...they are trying to achieve enlightenment..buying tools to get spiritual

    Vs remembering what we are

  • OMG! I am exactly like you. I am a seeker... all I want in life is "to go". I am stucked here though...I'm feeling dead.

  • @maria9here have the courage to follow your intuition.

  • You are Wise my friend Peace

  • Is it too early in our relationship for the "L" word? I love you Steve!

  • I'm so glad that I found you. Thank you for the inspiration.

  • This is what I want to do with my life. I have recently started a travel fund. I honestly am so excited for all that I will do in my life (I'm 16.) But you're right about the limitations, they are difficult to avoid listening to, but I am trying and you are truly inspiring! Keep doing what you're doing; I love your videos!

  • Have you ever heard of Daniel Suelo or Mark Boyle?

  • "Not all who wander are lost"

    Lord of the Rings :D

  • Hey Steve,

Just to let you know I've been following along as always since your last extended absence and greatly appreciating your wonderful gift for communicating all these great thoughts and insights. (Took me awhile to do that Google sign up update thing that youtube was requiring before I could post) Every video terrific as always and the pet loss one a standout. Thanks!

  • @JakeLeg Good to hear from you again. Thanks for taking the time to comment & supporting the channel over the years.

  • Lovely, It sounds like the way I'm heading. I can say I share the same believes. At the age of 23 being an open minded thinker and having a passion for traveling I already lived in 4 diferent countries in 4 different continents. And next month I'll backpack true India. Couchsurfing is a great help in my adventures.

  • Priceless

  • Hey Steve. Thank you for the video. Could you please provide a link to the blogs you refer to? Thanks. Chris.

  • @knightstar82 Good idea, thanks. Check the description.

  • Great video, complete and true. I read Walk Across America in middle school, one of only a few books that kept my interest at that time. Travel is great, even in its smallest form, I could write for pages on the benefits.

  • I have recently been using Google Earth, mainly in the South Pacific. I have the passion for exploring islands, like Mango Island in Fiji, or Flint island. I have such a desire to just get away from it all and live on one of these islands and survive. Just live off the land. Find an island with a fresh water supply and just live. Screw the government of these islands. Screw the private owners. Just let the chips fall where they may. Hell, even if I go to jail for squatting, at least I get fed.

  • @projectdurden When do you leave?

  • I think you spoke what is my soul. It is nice to know that someone else seems to see the big picture in life. We need to live each day accomplishing at least one thing that we will cherish when we lie on our death bed. We should focus on what can fulfill us.

  • Thank you sir for your words of wisdom. I've always wanted to travel. It is more difficult when you have children however I intend on traveling plenty throughout my lifetime. I love your ideas about simplifying and expanding our perspective. It is amazing how a single event can change our entire direction in life. Cheers :)

  • @cymbeli Cheers! Travel locally with your children. Great inexpensive camping experiences can be had. Heck, even camping in your backyard is a thrill for most children. All that is needed is a little creativity to create a lifetime of memories for your children.

  • @vagabondsteve This is so true. I remember those back yard camping adventures....so much fun. My daughter is grown and I have a beautiful granddaughter now. I'm starting a fashion program which entails a tour class. Some seasons we actually get to go to Europe and some to New York. The school sets this up realistically, knowing fully well that their students are real people with families so they've set these trips up efficiently. One thing I've tried to do is take advantage of my city.

  • @spaceinvader79 That's very helpful. Thank you!

  • Good stuff. Enjoy the moments. Don't be tied down. I'm working towards being a nomadic vagabond myself right now. Currently staying in the 20th country I've visited. England.

  • Priceless advice

  • Hi Steve-I have been reading books on simple living for years-one of my favorite is Choosing Simplicity by Linda Breen Pierce. I love to travel and I started traveling overseas a few years ago. I went to Tokyo two years ago and this year I'm heading to Hong Kong and Boracay in the Philippines. I think though I've been more of a tourist instead of a vagabond. I'm starting to think about retirement and maybe going overseas to live. "Retirecheapjc" has an interesting channel about Thailand.

  • @unsureof What's wrong with being a life long traveler? A number should not separate you from your passion. Trust your intuition and you'll know when it's time to settle down if you should so choose. But even settling down you can take local weekend getaways. Traveling is a lifestyle, mindset, and conscious decision. While conformity is simply taking the path of least resistance. No mountains to climb, rivers to cross, or shamans to meet.

  • @vagabondsteve I agree! And traveling doesn't have to actually be out of your area....I did temp work for years and years for this same reason - I liked moving around, trying new things, meeting new people, being in a different place, etc. People said the same thing to me all the time "I hope you find what you are looking for", "why can't you just find something you like?" etc. Traveling is an experience and an adventure.

  • @loenterprises Good points. First rule of vagabonding is take conformity advice with a big grain of salt.

  • I totally agree about the societal conditioning aspect. You really do have to "catch yourself" as you said. I often have to check myself and make sure I am not thinking or speaking out of societal/cultural/parental conditioning. A lot of good points in this video, Steve.

  • @BillyOhRayBob90210 You're right societal conditioning takes constant vigilance. As always I appreciate your comments and contribution to the channel.

  • amazing video again.

  • i look at the vagabond lifestyle like in the movie the matrix...when you look at life out of the matrix in zion its really depressing and there at risk the sentinels will kill them cause there vulnerabal cause they have no home..when you look at life in the matrix it just looks like such a better life,so is it really worth it??why not just live life in the matrix without all the hassles..i mean why not use the illusion factor and just change your prespective and be at peace with working a job

  • @usernameDOGS I understand your point but it's hard to draw the same comparison. My experience has been the opposite. Traveling, meeting new people, learning from new cultures, spending time in nature has not been a hassle. It has been liberating, educating, and given me the greatest life experiences a person could ever hope for. When I do finally decide to settle down it will be doing a job I enjoy. Simple living has given me the freedom to make it all possible.

  • @vagabondsteve yea i understand as long as your doing something you truely enjoy with your life, thats what freedom is..your videos have helped me to understand how the mind works with your videos about prespective, illusion and non conformity even if what i took out of your message wasnt the point you were trying to make..ive learned how to control my feelings..ive just change my perspective of life so i dont have the thought of being a slave by working.i actuely enjoy working now..so thanks man

  • @usernameDOGS Awesome! Thank you for taking the time to contribute to the discussion.

  • brilliant video Mr Vagabond.

  • This video reminds me of the movie "Lost In America" about people who quit jobs sold their house and planned to travel in a motor home for the rest of their lives. It is a shame how in society we are trapped in jobs and can't really go anywhere or travel the world. And, when people do eventually retire and get time to travel, by that time they may be too old or have too many health problems to enjoy going anywhere.

  • Steve, Another terrific video and great insights, Thanks! It's interesting... we are so quick to identify the reasons why we CAN'T do something like travel. Yet if we just turn our minds around, we can focus instead on how we CAN do something! And lo-and-behold, we actually CAN do it!

  • Awesome inspiring video my friend, thankyou...^_^

  • This is what I plan to do. I do not feel I can do it right now though. My boyfriend and I are just beginning. I am 21 and he is 23. He has one year of college/work left and I am starting my own business. In a year I think our adventures will begin. I'm trying to obtain many skills and try lots of new things this year to get ready. For example I got my full drivers license and setting up my own business. I am building my business so that I will be able to run it from anywhere. Live your dreams!

  • Steve.. Thanks a lot for all your videos.

Can you please speak a bit about dealing with buried anger that has been accumulated over the years? I just realized that most of my problems stem from this burning anger that I've been trying to suppress all my life, but what I was actually doing was fueling it. I generally act very nice to people (which is probably a way to compensate or cover my anger) but occasionally lash out with crazy verbal abuse for silly reasons.

    Any insight is appreciated.

  • @kapaka12 You're welcome. Have you read "A New Earth" & "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle? Have you tried journal writing, therapy, meditation, vigorous exercise, and a high fruit and veggie diet? Another great book on becoming the person you want to be is: "One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way" by Robert Maurer.

  • @vagabondsteve Thanks a lot Steve..

  • I love all your videos, but this one really spoke to me. I'll continue to watch.

  • “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

  • @TDP788 Brilliant, thanks for sharing it.

  • 22 years ago I traveled to Australia for a month. In the process I met over 200 people and came home to the US a different person. That trip was one of the best things I ever did.

  • This video reminds me of Forrest Gump. Great movie.

He run through the whole USA. :-)

  • @Theravadachannel he did just for running and all the people was asking him for advices, hope.. :). Yes is a wonderful movie

  • I am beginning to think a life of crime might be better...

2 weeks being a criminal and 50 weeks of freedom.

  • I cunt live that way either... Oh wait too late... Kids and bills.

  • Such a great video & amazing timing in my life to see this,

Thank you for the re-assurance & reminder!

"The best way to find yourself is to get lost"

Be well & much love mr.vagabond!

    Cherilyn

  • i agree with steve on this one

  • "Walk Across America" Peter Jenkins

I loved that book! His dog, Cooper. Yep, I read it a few times.

Excellent video, Steve. You always get me thinking. Thank you.

  • hey you should have your wall color agree with your skin tone, in order too pull off white your skin needs to be tan :)

  • Oh yeah, by the way.. Excellent vid, excellent advice as always. Thanks for posting. I just wish more people would live like this, because it's SO LIBERATING!

  • "It is the traveling that is the goal".

  • My favorite movie: "Into the wild" inspired me to go hitchhiking through Europe last summer. See it!

  • @JustWickedSwede

    Thanks for the tip. :-)

  • @JustWickedSwede Just watched "Into the wild" the other night and it is also one of my all time favorite movies! Its sooo good.

  • @JustWickedSwede Loved the movie but didn't agree with his recklessness and abandonment of family.

  • Im going travelling when I get my passport, gonna do random jobs to sustain my income. That 9-5 mon-fri job, and settling down carry on is just NOT for me. My friends say.. "oh but what about having a mortgage for security" i say.. "you either A: live a life of misery being stuck in material place with a soul destroying job all to have a house? or B: sacrifice materialism and live your life to the max and enjoy every moment while being completely stress free.Needless to say, I chose option B :D

  • @1nf1n1tyW1th1n Good choice :) Love yourself is the only choice we need make in life :)

  • Travelling is a beautiful and spiritual thing. Really opens the heart and the mind. Although money does make the world go around. You need to buy plane tickets and have spending money. Moving around the country is cool and cheaper but it's not the same as going to another country with a different climate, environment, and culture.

  • @Carnuss True, I would fund my travels by living very simply, working my butt off waiting tables, and finding odd jobs whenever I could. Being a vagabond requires less money than being a tourist.
