  • I always thought three secret bonus points got you an extra continue. Is that right?

  • Great LP, great to see more women doing this sort of thing (especially one with a great voice such as yourself) I feel you do a better job by yourself, You don't get this sort of entertainment anymore. Keep up the good work. I always loved this game, The controls I feel though are abit stiff.

  • You know, the one thing I never got was WHY they left out all the dialogue.

The first time I played it, I was like "Wow- this game is AWESOME... Wait- what's going on? What's that guy doing? Why's he/she doing it?" and then I found out about the dialogue cuts JUST TODAY and was like "Whoa... What? I gotta see what was said so I know what the story was about."

    I mean, it's a puppet show. XD it's GOTTA have a story.

  • im not saying you yourself aren't funny but i like guest stars in lets plays and even better, the guest stars are always deceased crab huzzah!

  • I just want to say THANK you for let's playing this, and it's awesome. Maybe later you could Let's Play the Game Gear version, just for completion sake. Among other games. ;)

  • after twin head nope it wont happen i bet

  • Wow, it is odd to look at the differences, I grew up with the US one and never knew until a few years ago the differences.

I still wonder why they edited a lot of it.

But with your videos I can watch the differences and it is nice.

    Great video and commentary :)

  • "The Emperor has the utmost confidence in me!"

Tell me, what happens when you read this line and you've been reading/playing a lot of Warhammer 40,000? You imagine Maruyama screaming, "I am Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium," that's what!

  • azumarill, i aent ready

  • Hey Luna this happens to be one of my favourite Genesis games, It's great to see someone else out there who likes it too. Where did you find that Translated version of the Japanese game? I finished the US version just yesterday and my god it's hard but even then I still love playing it.

  • Notice how from 1:45 to 2:10 there's monitors depicting all Keymasters. That's awesome.

Also, I wish there were more Villain Songs around like Maruyama's one.

  • I felt in love with this game when I was a kid.

  • "People tend to mistake Trouble Bruin for a cat, but he's actually a bear."

It's not our fault! He looks too much like a cat!

  • I love this game. I prefer Gunstar Heroes though.

  • Half of the time I was thinking "What the fuck is going on?" or "Why the fuck is that even there?", this game is definitely weird, but that doesnt make it boring

  • hahaha, madam Luna you sound so formal in the beginning. I almost expected you to say:

"Hello everybody i am Madam Luna, i will be your host for this evening, the emergency exits are located to the right of the main youtube video, and the button for the enhanced resolution is the HQ button, please post comments for further edification and or clarification. enjoy your stay and i hope to see you again on future Madam Luna LPs"

  • Dynamite Headdy was a kickass game. If Treasure was or is still around, they should make a sequel to this game.

  • I was wondering what is a good program to use to record your game play and a good program to record your voice?

  • OH THATS THE CAT BEAR THINGS NAME IN THE AMARICAN GAME!!!!!!!!!

i just call him catnik after dr.robotnik

  • I've been a fan of yours for a long time now and I'm glad you are doing a solo LP this time :3 I really enjoyed this video because it was refreshing and new, very informative, and not just a cheep ten minute laugh. Keep it up ML!

  • Huzzah! I love this game.

  • cant belive i missed out on such a great game.ohWell

  • What I like about your LPs, is that you're very informative. To me, it's similar to knowing that you are a VERY loving fan, or you know the game like the back of your hand. I like learning more about games I've never heard of (in this case, I've only heard that the music was good), so I could try it out myself. :)

  • Thanks. I've always believed in "play what you know" :)

  • happy that the sonic sega genis collection have this game.

  • i love this game never beat it and that a bear when i saw it i think it a cat lol

  • It's a bear? wow I thought it was a cat too, lol

  • Reminds me of Memoirs of a Geisha!

  • Yeah! I LOVE Dynamite Headdy! It's all so...BEAUTIFUL!

  • oh wow I remember this game

  • I never played this game it looks awesome. Thanks for LPing it I think I'm gonna hunt it down somehow =D.

  • Use emulators ;)

  • Virtual Console has it! It is excellent, but not the fan translated version.

  • Aw, I saw this game a long time ago when I used to get free Sega Visions magazines, and I thought it looked pretty cool. Never could play it until Internet came along, but it was always a Japanese version and I never got very far. Definately looking forward to the rest of this one!

  • I actually can't beat this game. I'm colorblind, so I always screw up the cues on the final boss.

That's when I, you know, get that far.

  • Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! That really would make it impossible :( I tell you what, you stick around until the end and I'll show you the ending! I will kick Dark Demon's ass not only for myself, but for those who are unable to!

  • Well, I did the next best thing. I used save states. So I have seen it. But I pat myself on the back for a MOSTLY legit run of DH... I think. I f'get.

It's not total color blindness, it's the red-green sort, which normally, normally, does not hurt me. Except in video games. In particular, old-style games with bad texturing (sorry, DH, you count), so two ore more colors look alike.

    It sucks, but I cope.

And nevertheless, I look forward to you killing the boss, for all of us!

  • Dude, I had this game on my Sega Game Gear.

  • The Game Gear version is weeiiiiird. I tried playing it once off of Treasure Box and I freaked out when I saw that Maruyama is EVERY KEYMASTER. I like the addition of a prologue, though. I'll have to play that game all the way through someday.

  • i wish i knew which screen recorder is good for let's plays...

  • I personally use Camtasia, but there are several that work: Camstudio, Hypercam, etc. (You have to pay for the full version of Camtasia, though.)

  • I use Camstudio, as did DC until recently (he's using Camtasia now).

Here's a bit of advice for people wanting to become LPers: be resourceful. I've spent exactly $0* on LPing, because I use a free screen recorder (Camstudio) that doesn't leave a watermark, I use a free encoding program (MediaCoder) to compress it, and I use a free video editing software (VirtualDub) when things occasionally get messy.

*well ok my mic once broke and I got a new one, but that doesn't count.

  • mkay i'll give that a try. thanks for the advice and good luck on your future LPs!

  • Interesting. I'll keep an eye on this. Not only did the balls he throw from his charge HURT, but they were also far LARGER. Take a look at the related videos-PaleVoyager's is the US/EU version, and you can see the difference.

  • I like how everything in the overseas version was made 500% more lethal, especially in boss fights. And by "like" I mean "as a child, was constantly enraged by."

  • I love this game. <3

  • All I have to say is "what the hell." The game looks good enough. Gameplay seems decent, music is awesome, but the look is just... different. And the PUNS! Warhead? Hammerhead? Whatever floats their boat, I guess. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the rest of this.

  • Be happy I'm not playing the American version, where the puns are one hundred million times more groanworthy. How do you feel about "Stair Wars" and "The Rocket Tier?"

  • Yeah, most games get butchered durring translations and such. And let's not go to "Stair Wars" please. That's just too aweful.

  • all the secret bonus points do is just add to your stage bonus score, which of course does nothing in this game

the REAL secret bonus is getting all 4 special numbers and inputting the code

  • (just a note for the 2 people here who have never played or seen this game before)

  • I don't know if I'm going to spring for getting the secret numbers this time around. If I do ('cause after all, I don't think I've ever seen the dialogue at the secret stage!), then I'll probably offscreen the intermission minigames because of all the saving and loading I'll be doing.

  • why do sometimes you almoust sound like a robot

  • I am one. Don't be hatin'.

  • wtf does hatin mean and wow you reply fast

  • I knew it!

  • Madamluna and Deceasedcrab are actually evil robots from an alternate universe. They await the command of the almighty cyber-brain that rules their dimension, and at that time, will together conquer our world.

Until then, they pass the time by making amusing Let's Plays.

  • You appear to be playing my favourite game of all time. If I was ever to do an LP, it'd be this. It's a perfect little package for what it is... but you said it all already!

  • i have this on my wii and also i have the the original

  • Whoo! I was pleasantly surprised to see this today!

  • So I never noticed that wall of TVs in the background there at 1:45. >.>

Are those all the game's bosses?

  • Yes indeed!

  • Yay! That's pretty cool, I already noticed something new about the game. And I even watched your old LP of this.

I really hope you do Silhouette Mirage sometime, that one's my favorite <3

  • I was actually considering doing that first, but my eons-old copy of the game actually is in such worn condition that the music is starting to skip :( DC ordered a new copy though, so once it arrives (and after I'm done with DH) we'll probably do that. March will be Treasure Month!

  • Yay!

Now if only Treasure would actually release another great game ._.

  • I know, right? As long as they're not making any original IPs ever again, can I at least have a Dynamite Headdy remake/sequel please :|

  • Thanks for that ML, no idea what was going on but it was cool all the same; great vid. It's a bit like Ristar doncha think? Music's fab in that one too.

  • Awesome start! I can't wait to see where your adventures lead you...

  • I ended up spending most of saturday watching your 1st DH LP after you mentioned it, but more Dynamite Headdy is always welcome.

  • This game is so stylish, it's untrue. The presentation of the story on a "stage" is something which is just really, really, neat.

  • It gets better and better as you go along, too. The fun part of the puppet show theme is that not only is it there to look pretty, but Treasure actually works it into the gameplay as well.

  • Why does this guy remind me of Rayman? X3

Looks like a fun game though! I can't wait to see more ^^

  • Could be his daddy ^^

  • i saw your old DH LP and im curious to see how you fair up against some of the later boss fights. Very fun game though (never completed it personally, games incredibly hard, but i usually played the US version which is supposed to be harder the the jp version)

  • Awesome LP MadamLuna! I had the game gear version of this game and thought it was pretty hard when I was younger.

  • You know. I love the fact that you're being so calm and nonchalant for a game as weird and trippy as Dynamite Heady (really ANY Treasure game now that I think about it).

Either way, I love this game. Should be a fun LP.

  • Haha, yeah, I've been into this game for so long that I'm no longer really fazed by how freaking weird it is. there are some parts that are honestly just inexplicable (oh god why is a giant doll shooting at me with a machine gun in her mouth), but I'm more than used to Treasure's bizarre character designs by now :p

  • Hangman: TOUCH ME HEADDY

TOUCH ME WHENEVER YOU SEE ME

  • The best part is that when Headdy is clinging to him he's HOLDING HIM IN HIS MOUTH.

    OH GOD.

  • You seem... calmer. I guess that DC's presence just makes people naturally more excited.

  • Wow, that's not remotely creepy at all.

    ...

Yet it seems to hold truth... Further insight reveals that you're jumpier when THE CLOAK IS CURSED!

  • Is it really?!

    No.

  • Remins me of Rayman :D gr8 LP

  • YAY!

  • Awesome, a solo LP. This should be fun. Have a great time, Madamluna.

  • I can imagine Dynamite Headdy, an old man, waking up in his bed to just find Hangman standing in front of him, staring, unblinking.

    Always staring.

    *shudder*

  • Haven't noticed that before on your vids together with DC but you've got a very nice narrating voice. Very soothing. :) I suppose you don't wanna do documentaries on the design of modern computers? Would make my studies a whole lot easier :D

  • She should just record her voice and sell it as an mp3. It would make it easier for me to fall asleep.

  • Is that a good or a bad thing?

  • OH GOD NOBY NOBY BOY

    NOOOOO

  • if I ever get a ps3 DC and I are lping nothing but noby noby boy forever and ever and ever

    believe it

  • Looks like you AND Deceased Crab are reliving their Google Video experiences... Was this planned?

  • Are you a fan of Ristar, by any chance? It has the same bright graphics and the grabbing mechanics are similar to grabbing hangman with your head, I suppose. I guess the similarities probably end there, though. (I don't know much about this game, but I certainly will after watching your LP of it).

Also, I think you'll be fine without DC. He's great, but tends to steal some of the spotlight.

  • I'm so glad to see you remaking your DH LP for the youtube audience! I was always a Genesis fan growing up, and this actually remains my favorite game of all time. It's one of the best platformers ever, certainly one of the most underrated.

My favorite bosses were always the wooden doll and baby face, just because of how creative they were.

  • This was also one of my favorite genesis games. I didn't know it had so many edits from the Japanese version. Thanks for taking the time in showing us!

  • My pleasure! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far :)

  • You're doing a great job with this solo LP, I never played DH, and you've genuinely made me interested in checking it out. :)

  • The game seems to contain some pretty sweet music :D Great LP, Madamluna! Keep it up!

  • i know what you mean by not getting these kinds of colors in games anymore. games today are either brown games, or games that are so bright that you can't see.

  • Yeah, and even at the time of the Genesis DH's palette stood out. Compare it to games like Pulseman and Sonic CD, which at certain points are just so full of stupid blinking shit that you can't see. DH is colorful, but it almost never looks garish, which is a real feat.

  • Ah, Pulseman. Another game I can't play anymore. The pulsing stages kind of give me a headache. Plus I 1cced it once, that was enough.

  • This game looks like Rayman to me.

  • DH came out years before Rayman, I'm not saying it again.

  • After reading this, I just wanted to apologise if my comment made me look ignorant ^^; I wasn't meaning to imply this game copied, just that it reminded me of it

  • Secret Bonus Points:

First Point: 3:12 for saving your buddies from the capture-bot

Second Point: 7:25 for figuring out how to use Headcase.

Third Point: 9:50 from the stalker, Hangman!

  • I'm watching this video and what represents your health in this game? Is it that spotlight in the upper left corner?

  • Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that! Yes, the spotlight represents your health. It goes green, yellow, orange, red, black.

  • In the US version, there's a big H there instead, and it get smaller as you take damage. It's somewhat easier to read.

  • great vid luna

oh, and if you're looking for more games to lp, Rocket Knight Adventure is a great Genesis platformer

  • I watched the original one on google. It was umm... long! ^^

  • Nice! I love this game! Treasure has to be one of my favorite video game companies, Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, all of those great games. Well, I wish you luck! Baby Face's stage was pretty frustrating. I survived all the way up to there until I got a game over and has to start using save states.

  • In my mind, Treasure means Mischief Makers.

I've heard of this game, but never played it. It still seems pretty interesting.

  • I just realised that Heady looks like Rayman with a Bowtie..

  • I think you mean that the other way around. DH came out years before Rayman :|

  • Well yeah..but i knew Rayman first, so its only natural to compare them that way round.

  • Madamluna is this really your favorite game or are you just being fictitious? Also what system was this game originally released for?

  • Favorite game ever, 100% truth. I can hold up Dynamite Headdy and say "this is a Perfect Game. Every time I play it is always as fun as the time before, and whenever I finish it, I always get a little sad that it's over."

    Also, Sega Genesis.

  • Sega Mega Drive indeed.

  • I guess you could say that she's being fictitious. I mean, her name isn't Madamluna in the real world and all. You could say that Madamluna is just a character this LPer is playing.

  • i did see your Google video lp of this. very enjoyable..this game is a bitch to me though... oh well *hugs you on your first YT solo job*

  • Huzzah! I "love" this game, but I don't remember much about it any more.

  • hm. this is one interesting game. also great job. you dont always need deceased crab to give you a hard time.

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoy :)
