Thanks for this interesting and informative video. I didn't know that such large passenger ships plied the Lakes, but then, they are more like inland seas than lakes! I hope some have survived as tourist cruise ships. Peter, NZ.
The unidentified passenger sh;ip in the Detroit River is either the NORONIC or HAMONIC. These Canadian ships both burned. The HAMONIC burned at Sarnia, Ontario with no loss of life. The NORONIC burned in Toronto with many fatalities.
Nice video. The Boblo Boat's the boat shown isn't either the S.S. Columbia built in 1902 -1991 or the S.S. Ste Claire 1910 - 1991. The Ste Claire was being restored all work on her stopped last spring. The Columbia is owned by the "S.S. Columbia Project" in New York Columbia's restoration work is still on going. Once the great ship is getting a $10 million rebuild and will be sailing again on the hudson river.
Really enjoyed the video the music was really a nice touch and very appropriate. Would you happen to have pictures of the passenger steamer SS City of Grendel Rapids not the grand trunk ferry. I would love to send pictures of the original architectural model I am restoring. model
