I can't argue that point. I realize I am in the vast minority when it comes to Florez. I appreciate his talent and musicality, but I find nothing attractive about the voice itself. If you find it offensive, I'll remove it.
You could have said that instead of being arrogant. Youre a 42 year old teacher, a teacher! so you should know how to express yourself in a respectful way, Just a thought.
You disparage the fact that I teach in your original response, but hold me to a higher standard because of it in the next? And Florez would, in truth, be a nice addition to our chorus, or any chorus for that matter. Have you heard him live? I know some singers can't be appreciated until one hears them in person and I confess that I have not. If I did, it would be at the Met, where some have said it is difficult to hear him.
Of course. Because it was in a different context, sir. Because it seemed that you mocked Florez like you were Mr. Pavarotti. While being a teacher demands another way of expressing ideas, in a more educated way. After all, you are a teacher.
My understanding is that Pavarotti thought a great deal of Florez. In fact, they had deep respect for each other. Ironic how you mention my favorite and least favorite star tenors in your comment.
Did you hear him at Covent Garden? That may persuade me to see him at the Met. And I really do believe that hearing him live may change my opinion of him. Unfortunately, I have to take into consideration the price of tickets. I can only justify going twice per season. I'm seeing Villazon on the 8th of April, and he is in such poor form lately that I may be wishing it were Florez instead.
I teach social studies, not chorus. I may indeed know little of what real singing takes, but I readily admit that Florez is a very talented singer. I just don't like his voice...it's way too light for me. Florez, to me, is like a talented Paul Potts. I love Pavarotti, as well as Aragall, Bjorling, Del Monaco. Among the current tenors, I like several quite a bit more than Florez. Do opera fans HAVE to like Florez?
This interpretation is absolutely superb...

Wow. I think this boy would be great for the 7th grade chorus where I teach.

Oh sorry! I forgot to answer your question. Yes, I heard him live, 5 times, he is astonishing, and at least to me, it wasnt difficult to hear him.
