no, its a typical location for batteries on a rock crawler. It helps with climbing because it puts more weight on the front and prevents tipping on steep slopes. in this case it really didnt need to be mounted in the front and could have just been placed in the normal location (top center)
i had a VXL system in my AX10, and ran a 3s lipo and some custom duelly tires. it pulled wheelies.

I never did crawl it.... it wouldn't work out with that power and I don't like brushless in the crawler... sorry.
