How about using a fence with a pressure plate on top rather than slabs...? Its alot shorter than the typical tables.

@TheEyeBuster I use Camtasia 7 to record (which is pretty expensive) so try using CamStudio. Google it and see if you can find it. Or google: free screen capture software.

What i do for the table is i put a switch and hook it up to a repeater redstone thing hooked up to the pistons, and then i have retractable pistons

One is called: Noblefool4

and the other is: EpicCookieStudios

ECS is animation, and noblefool4 was my first youtube channel (I still use it) and that has pictures of sets. With NobleFool, I've got over half a million total views with that account! ;-D
