J Geils actually did a cover of a song that came out in the late 1950s of FIRST I LOOK AT THE PURSE. I have the sheet music here for the original and will post.
This is pretty good. The band is tight. The singer, although not bad, makes the common cover band mistake of trying to imitate the original singer. You are always better off singing it how you sing rather than trying to cop someone else's style, especially someone with a voice as unique as Peter Wolf.
I enjoyed this. Anyone trying to create the excitement of the J. Geils Band deserves support. What makes me laugh is that there was a J Geils in our local phone book here in England. I was tempted to phone up and say "Play your guitar Jerome". I don't suppose it could have been Jay with a UK pad!
He could have said "1971" as this track featured on "The J.Geils Band" the debut album recorded pretty much live in the studio- recorded and mixed in 18 hours. "Full House" however, gives you the real excitement of these guys- I was lucky enough to see them twice!

As a teenager in the 1970's I liked J. Geils too (of course) as "Full House" was one of the great Albums of that decade.

I was only lucky enough to see them once. Ironically, a very young "U2" was the opening act. Talk about a killer show!
Thanks for watching the video. While we're nothing close to J. Geils we have a blast playing it.

1974....no sir! This was around at least since 1972 if not before. Recorded Live at the Cinderella Ballroom, Detroit MI, 1972.

The original song was done by The Contours in the 60s.
You are right that J. Geils released Full House in 1972. He meant to say 72 but made a mistake. That happens sometimes. Hopefully you liked the video.
