I'm inspired! I've just decided I'm going to make a spit roast as I have built to drum smokers which I do smoked fish on and beer can chicken, but I need to persuade my hubby to let me do this now! I'm aiming for an Easter lamb BBQ with the family around! thanks for posting a great vid
@LibraSkyyy It's a bit more tricky to get a whole carcass to rotate with just one skewer - but nothing that can't be solved by adding some plain wire as ties.
We've spit roasted chickens and a turkey and all came out great, but now that I've seen how good your Beef came out, I'm going to have to suffer the extra weight and haul in a roast and give it a try. I'm realy warming to the idea of still shots and clear commentry over bungled videos that are hard to pause on the shot that you want a closer look at. Great video.
Cook slow and long, as you don't want to dry the turkey/chicken out. We find that those self basting chickens/turkeys with the juices injected under the skin are the best for open spit roasts as they tend not to dry out so easy.
great vid! thanks

I've never tried a turkey - would make for an interesting xmas lunch - any top tips for that would be appreciated.
