for texture packs, i recommend the painterly pack as a starter.

for mods, I think the YogBox and/or aether would be too overwhelming for someone who has not used any mods (though easy to install in the case of the YogBox), and you should start with something small yet fun (try elemental creepers!)

@Elijan1996 Currently minecraft is in beta, however there is no main objective. It is basically just a big sandbox game where you can build whatever you want or explore. If you go to minecraft's website you can play creative for free.

I play on peaceful because i don't know the world that well, I found octopuse or squid and i don't know if they hurt you. and i killed a wolf next to a pack without knowing it was a wolf until it howled. so all the wolf packs are out to kill me. Any advice i should know Ray?
