dont get me wrong i love what porsche do with thier designs but the earlier Cayenne models dated very quickly just like the Mercedes ML series that came out the same time the porsche 4x4 also did. The veyron was built for one thing, to be the fastest car on the road. The Q7 V12 is for pushing the limits of their TDi technology. They are proving that diesel is now as good as petrol for power and still better for economy.

Diesel was always as good as petrol. Take for example the 1999 PD150 that came with deisel golfs... It came stock with 150BHP and was easily "chip-tuneable" to 190BHP. And all thats comeing from a small 4 cylinder, 8 valve engine.

This thing is heavy, so what really gives it it's 'oomph' is the 750 or so ft/lbs of torque.

Petrol engines tend to favor horsepower over torque.

Not always, but usually.

With a petrol engine, the takeoff and passing abilities jsut wouldn't be as good.

The only thing thats gay is the EPA. This thing gets 25 MPG with 500Hp and is rated to tow at least 5000Lbs which are both double of an H2 and I can't buy one in the USA. BS. Thanks to the 2008 and 2010 diesel filters they get half the MPGs they used to. Great idea now the vehicles that build America have to give the oil companies even more money. So much for less dependence on foreign oil no America depends more on foreign oil. Who lobbied for this one, oil or the Sierra Club (Good Thinkin')

So to those who say diesels are never going to be faster, why the hell would you buy a diesel to go fast?? Get a petrol. Then see your money drain down the sink when you have miles to do. nice driving scene's.BEAUTIFUL CAR, but poor quality on the vid. Nothing beats being inside though. My friend in LA has one. you can get the rear camera option...and when your backing up depending on how your steering wheel is positioned lines on the LCD screen show you what your trajectory will be. I love it.
