SEBASTIAN VETTEL CANNOT DRIVE AN F1 CAR HE DRIVES IT MORE LIKE A RALLY CAR, SO LET GET VETTEL TO GO TO WORLD RALLY AND GET RAIKKONEN IN THAT RED BULL F1
WTF are u talkin bout?! I used to race F1 in High school myself (not pro). We used the same cars as today and they never had auto transmissions and they never did. The throttle and brake are on the steering wheel with the gear select levers. Maybe u mean there's no "clutch". There is no clutch, just shift and ur done.
I know why you'd think that. Kimi is a minimalist on all levels. Emotionally and physically. Alot of guys have big hand moves to make sure they never accidentally shift. It's a very specific movement the initiate by pulling there fingers from in front of the paddles to behind then flicking off. Where kimi is very quick and always has his fingers on the paddles. It almost looks like he's not doing anything at all.
Two of the fastest street legal drag cars in the world are automatics. The absolute fastest, top fuelers, are single speeds, they run a multistep clutch system.
But yes, cars that actually have to turn, almost always use manual transmissions, it comes in handy.
yes i know the clutch is only on first gear but there is new F1 cars that have traction control and stability control so i thought what don't they make it auto also :D
TCS and STM where taken off F1:s this year. The idea is that people make more mistakes and there would be a better chance to overtake (the cars on the video still have TCS and STM)
F1 used to have automatic transmisions. and also launch control for starts, and active suspension. the list goes on.
for example the cars that Mansell, Prost and Senna drove during their rivalries had 10 times the computing power of today's F1 cars, full of electronic driver aids.
all these things (as well as traction control) are now banned to put more emphasis on the driver skill.
Well that's a stupid comment. It's in practice. Hamilton let him past because he (Hamilton) was on an out-lap. It's not like they were racing, dumbarse.
Hey subtvtnt. Hamilton a champion in 2007 you wish!! maybe hamilton was driving a ferrari with all information mclaren got from Stepney og Coughlan.... Iceman is the real champion.
holy shit that things fast

Doesnt anybody hear the 'grunt' on 48 seconds? Sounds like he's f$*%king up the gearbox..
@ LiamStroudy09: Total agree mate! Alonso must win the next 3 world titels! Such shame he didnt do that at McLaren, but maybe in the future!

TC could be active on downshifting to prevent rear-wheel lockup...
xlefty 2 years ago
@Montass Most likely the Traction control kicking in (:
SebHUK 2 years ago
its probably the curbs making that noise. he shifts exactly at the right time in that section.
if an F1 gearbox made that sound that would be hilarious
vjanik 2 years ago
That's the TC making that sound

Waheeey fuck you Hamilton. He really wound me up that year, starting to warm up to the lad. Good on Jenson for 2009 :)

Formula 1:s use a semiautomatic gearbox. Therefore he does not need a clutch, but he will have to change gears.
