I'm born with complete cleft lip and full palate. Yeah, I may look funny to some, and I live in Oslo, so I'm pretty sick of people staring at me and pointing. And people calling it Harelip. I hate that word. Cleft lip is much nicer and describes the condition better than caling us hares :P And I just wonder: Children are rarely taught anything about cleft lip. Most people don't know anything about it, unless they now someone who was born with it. Why won't they teach them?
people shouldn't make fun of other people. The way some people are treating others is not right. This coming from some one whose only birth defect is "insanity". I am always told I'm sooooooooooooooooo annoying
I hate how they make it seem like a big issue. In the end you end up with a scar and funny looking nose(and possible hearing and speech problems) but most importantly you become stronger than everyone else because you learn how to adapt.
At 5:00, when she said, "The first step in ESSR is to enlarge the nipple by cutting a cross in the nipple," I was like, "SAY WHAT!?"
It took me a second or two to realize she was talking about rubber baby bottle nipples. LOL! I thought, Great, the kid has a birth defect, and now you're proposing disfiguring Mom, too?!
BULLSHIT they make out like after the operation wen u're like 2 it's over! wrooooong try lifetime of misery, i shud know since i've lived it, PLUS they dont wanna do any futher work bcos apparently 2 scars an an asymetrical nose is a shallow cosmetic procedure, buuuullshiiiiiiit
@TuRdSandwitch18 My surgeon told me the same thing. He's not doing anymore surgery on me. He flat out asked me " who are you trying to impress" when I asked if he could do something with my nose and scars. MOTHERFUCKER
it depends where you live and study, and the way you do it
i was born w/ unilateral clef lip on left side, and although my scar is rly rly discreet, i used to be teased at school over it...
but ppl teased me coz i was rly nerd, rude, ingenuous and depressive, and they found something to make me feel sad, make me feel like an aberration...
the solution i found was staying away from all those "friends", and now i know that i was only a teenager with personal problems, nothing related to my body
@fpguim4 not really. i'm already in college. it would be my last year in college taking up interior design to tell you the truth i never been discourage about my defect even now. it was like the other way around. i bullied them or tease them, if one of my classmate tease me, my friends would always stand behind me, even less. i always stand on my own feet. i was like... and so what? atleast i'm pretty.
@veranaika As I said I was a completely jerk during school and ppl found in my lip an aspect (a lil aspect) to put me down, and that wasn't the only aspect. U know how teenagers get confused about themselves sometimes (always). My life changed a lot by changing my atittudes about life. Nowadays I can't recognize the old "me" (and I'm not talkin' about my lip, sometimes I completely forget that I was born with this fissure xD) and I live a completely normal and encouraged life on College either.
