  • I see why Shepard lets the Ascension be destroyed if you don't play ME1. Without the power of foresight, that's a huge gamble to save it. I'm not sure if I would've done it.

  • I let the council died in Mass Effect 1. It it really comes to bit you in the ass when you play Mass Effect two. The new Human Council act's like a D'bag to Sheperd. I

'm starting back to ME1 fixing all my shit and letting the council live. Becuase trust me. It's a bad move.

    And I cna't wait for Mass Effect 3. <3

  • @clonemarine501 doesn't seem like any difference then...the old council still acts like a dickbag to you and humanity hasn't really gained any respect beyond what the the prologue lines say.

  • Damn that moment when the com.officer said They closed the channel was mindblowing

  • i hate the council but i still saved them, just so i can hear them kiss my ass.

  • That was a dick move

  • @ApproximateXero ah yes "dick moves"

  • AWWW DICK MOVE JOKER!

  • @RedMoonIllich15

LOL I was thinking that also. Joker was a dick for doing that.

  • Dismiss THAT!

  • It's funny. I haven't played the first game, but part 2 goes on the assumption that you let them die. I was horrified by what they were saying, but looked it up for myself and Shepherd's rationale, and it was the prudent thing to do.

  • Thumbs up if you hate the dumbass retarded council like I do!!!!!!

  • heres the thing i dont get... Why was the Arcturas fleet ready for combat if the alliance had 0 knowledge of the attack?

  • @sartte What do you mean "0 Knowledge"? Joker and the rest of the crew warned them while Shep was trying to catch up with Saren on Ilos.

  • I didn't play ME1, but i've played ME2.

My question is whether the Ascension would still be around in my storyline...? It looks like a kick-ass ship, and it would have been a shame to lose it without actually making the decision myself.

  • @Edolix95 if the council is dead then no the ship is gone forever

  • Concentrate to Sovereign(let the council die)is the best thing to do.Not because I hate them or because I wanted a renegade end,but if we put ourself ''on the moment'',nobody of us would save the council, when it could risk the Sovereign victory. It's easy to save the council because we all know that if we save it or not,Sovereign dies, but when you're ''on the moment'',when you don't know if Sovereign could win, concentrade on him is the best thing to do for the entire galaxy.

  • @quebecois12345 Seriously, my first paragon run (first mass effect run by the way) was all paragon BUT he let the council die. I just couldn't risk the ships needed against sovereing. Later in me 2 i found it had kind of bad consequences..

  • @maesde

That's what I said, but we will need to see Mass Effect 3 to know if the pisitive/negative consenquences of the dead of the council. The reactions of the Turians in ME 2 were previsibled, but we shouldn't enter in their game:there's aliens in the new council.

  • @quebecois12345

If you leave the council to die you'd still have a fleet of geth on your rear (ass) and considerably less fire-power to deal with them. Even if you defeat sovereign the geth would need to be dealt with; overall casualties would be astronomical compared to rescuing the Ascension and the council fleet.

  • @LordIvor6

The time used to rescue the Destiny Ascension is time used by Sovereign to open a portal...

  • Killing the council is the dumbest decision you could make no matter how much you hate them.

  • Thank God I saved them.

  • I didnt save the council not because I hated them, but to ensure we make Sovereign garbage, either way I am curious what happens to ME2 with the concil alive...

  • @CptNickk id say its worth it to try and play both games with the council alive before me3 comes out. Thats where the "ah yes" quote comes from. Hope I havent spoiled anything for you.

  • @liljagsa no man thanks for the advise :) If you can check my vid with ME2!! I am planning to make a vid about suicide mission soon :P

  • I'm going to having the BIGGEST Troll face in ME3 when I see the council.

  • I felt like a dick letting the Ascension go kablooey...

  • i wish the alliance did a spaceship teabag on the council ship i knowi would have if i were piloting th normandy

  • Council Ship: We are picking reinforcements!, thank god is the alliance!!

(Normandy just send you an image)

wait, commander they send an image...

does anyone knows what this image mean???

its like the face of a man, it says... Problem?

OH NOOO INCOMING MISSI.... comunication lost.

    Normandy: ROFL!

    D:

  • @z4crad That was hilarious!

    U Mad Turian counciler? xD

  • @LordManda2 LOL!

  • Now that is just vicious.

  • to me it was not about killing the council, it was about destroying Sovereign. it just felt more logical to me keep my forces back until i could get a shot at the GIANT DOOM BRINGER SPACESHIP. to me it was a choice between saving the Destiny Ascension but risking not have the firepower to destroy Sovereign or ignore them and increase the chances of success. i assumed that Shepard doesn't know that this is just a videogame and that everything would be fine anyway.

  • @imanerd000

...and geth fleet in rear... i guess i still would save destiny

and my ass from being´´probed´´by geth fleet. in other case

    i would´´grieve´´ council´s passing away

  • @imanerd000 The alliance destroys sovereign regardless and its kinda silly to ignore the geth

  • @mamobster1500 ... I understand but the geth ships aren't as powerful as Sovereign ..Fighting Sovereign would mean you would lose more ships then fighting the geth...and the alliance lost 90% of their fleet that day, so if you think about ignoring the geth ships is the best solution :)

  • @GaM3RN3RD1 Thats kinda wrong buddy. The Citadel fleet lost 90% of their ships. The alliance only loses 8 ships.. And thats if you save the council. If you let them die.. Then you lose less than 8.

  • @mamobster1500 that's assuming you know what will happen if you do this or that. metagaming if you will! roleplaying means ignoring the metagame and play as the character. it still makes sense to me to keep the Alliance back.

  • @imanerd000 My same thoughts.

  • Ah yes " Turian councilor haters " Retarded fools who keep hating on me just cause I am better then them,

    I have dismissed that claim..

  • The next time shield the station before a Reaper comes trough the relay ... aholes.

  • I don't think I could ever bring myself to let the Destiny Ascension be destroyed. Out of the 10000 people onboard , only 3 of whom aren't innocent bystanders , the only person you can really HATE to the point of wanting him to die like an animal is Councilor Valern(Turian).Tevos(Asari) is likeable and the Salarian Concilor is reasonable enough. Not to mention that if you do save it, the majority of the Aliens in ME2 revere you like the Damn Hero you are.

So is killing ONE Asshole worth it? NO!

  • @AllForFire My thoughts exactly. Paragon FTW

  • @AllForFire

    turian must die!!!!...hopefully in ME3...

  • @prcheesebollz replace him with GARRUS... mind you, it might just go...:

Shepard: "Garrus! The reapers are attacking, tell the rest of the council we need reinforcements!"

Garrus: "Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some callibrations..."

  • @DarthRevan916 tbh, I only dislike one person on the Ascension, that racist Turian councillor. Wish I could kill him and save the rest...

  • If it was just the Council on board, I would have let them die. But I couldn't kill 9,997 innocent people just to get rid of three I didn't like.

  • epic explosion, epic music

  • Destiny Ascension You are clear for death.

  • i hope in me3 that sacrificing whicever your fellow humans or council will help in some epic battle i ending like 8 extra human ships or destiny ascension

  • Destiny Ascension: "This is the council, we are under attack by a reaper!"

Shepard: "ah yes, "reapers" we have dismissed this claim"

  • @HolyxHellfire That's odd.. The reaper is inside the citadel. I'm sure you mean geth

  • @mrcodypettit the ship itself is a reaper.

  • @Baseshocks I meant The Geth are shooting the Destiny ascension not the reaper! Man you humans are all stupid !

  • I feel the only member of the council that deserve to die was the Turian, the salarian was pretty lay back and the asari, she was hardly 400 years still F*ckable, that is usually why I save them, and they give my status back in ME 2 :D

  • ME3:

    Counciler: Shepard SAVE US!

    Shepard: Ah yes "saving".

  • @XScotty95X Counciler: "You know I had a feeling that would bite me in the ass in the future"

  • Ah, yes. "Death". The end product of life. We have dismissed that claim.

  • Destiny Ascension Crew Compliment: 200 000.

  • I saved the council, and I tell ya... that damned Destiny Ascension better be part of the attack wave to retake Earth from the Reapers in ME-3. The Council definitely owes my Shepard one for saving them from Sovereign and the Geth.

  • @MainHeretic same here. they council were dicks but i wanted a united galaxy not one run by humans. plus when i saw the Destiney Ascension i want that thing front and center when i retake earth

  • I did this. they made the scene very emotional. I wasn't sad :)

    and i was paragon...

  • I let the council end up like hundreds of human colonies, dead. It serves them for their ignorance.

  • by killing the council will that ruin my mass effect 3 game plz reply

  • @rodthetruth

    Not at all.

Expect things to go smoother actually given you got rid of the council ;P

  • @SinerAthin yeah thanks i now realize that destroying them saved so many lives

  • @rodthetruth Kinda.

  • @rodthetruth There's no right way or wrong way. That's the beauty of the Mass Effect games. If you chose to let the Council die, then that was your choice. They're only replaced by a Puppet Council in ME2 anyway.

  • @GoddyofWar I think the ramifications will show themselfs in ME3 when you try to gather allies to save earth, i could see the other races saying what you did in ME1 that destroying the reapers are more important then any single planet.

  • @Baseshocks That's an irrevelent factor though; The other races deny the existence of the Reapers because their was nothing left of Sovereign to empthatically prove he was one, or at least that's what they say to Shephard. They may believe it's true, and are just denying it to spite Shephard for his/her decision.

If Earth is attacked by an entire fleet of Reapers, the Council will have to accept their existence publicly, and therefore their intention to destroy EVERY RACE.

  • @GoddyofWar But the decision comes, let earth get destroyed along with other planets untill the councel has mustered enough allies to launch an offensive or quickly rush in trying to save the first planet that was attacked. Kind of like the same decision in saving the councel, risk your fleet to save a few people or let the people die save your fleet for the reaper.

  • @Baseshocks Indeed, but if you did decide to let the Council die, the Destiny Ascension and the Citadel fleet are destroyed, leaving the Human fleet the most powerful in the galaxy. I doubt the Council would be so dumb as to see it in their best interests to let the most powerful race militarily get annihilated just like that.

  • @GoddyofWar Ture. would be interesting to see how it plays out. I am going to make multiple saves for ME2 before ME3 comes out.

  • Killing the council.

One of the biggest favors Sheperd's ever done to the galaxy besides stopping the Reapers.

  • @SinerAthin

The Asari and Salarian councilors were fine, but the Turian one was an ass. "Ah yes, 'Reapers'." I seriously wanna hear what he's gonna say in ME-3 when they attack the Earth.

  • @MainHeretic

    Errrr

Aside from making Sheperd a specter, the Council has pretty much only been screwing it up ever since ;P

  • @MainHeretic He's gonna be like "We must sacrifice the humans to appease our Reaper Gods! Goodbye humans! You're shit out of luck and jolly well fucked!"

  • They will look up and shout "save us!" And I will look down and whisper "No!"

  • Ah yes, the council's death. We have dismissed that claim.

  • the council is made up of assholes. they didnt believe me when i said saren went rougue.whats more, what do they expect?? they leave everyone else in the citadel rot while they escape to their nice cushy Destiny Ascension and expect the Alliance to save their blue/lizard/frog asses instead of the 40 million ppl inside??? i chose to let them die, whats more I chose to create an all-human council. we need someone worthy to govern the galaxy :)

  • they were not there for us so ya we are not saveing you so bye

  • Hey, I warned those stupid fuckers that this was gonna happen. But did they listen to me? Nope. Now they're dead, and there's a new human controlled council chaired by Captain Anderson calling the shots. And they suck just as bad as the old council did! *facepalm*

  • gotta luv the music

  • just have to say, everyone hate the council, 17 likes, no dislikes.

  • @kiwickle i think one person disliked just to spite u, no respect

  • DIE COUNCIL DIE!!!!!

  • Saving the council ensures galactic stability through continuance of government. Humanity would be rewarded for its sacrifice instead of facing eventual instability and overthrow.

  • This is justice

  • Fuck the council and fuck the haters in ME2, how the hell did they expect shepard to move forces and firepower AWAY from the UNIVERSE ENDING THREAT just to save the council and their aids?

i doubt the ward citizens were on that ship...

  • so whats the difference between saving and not saving except the destiny ascention die ? didnt saw many human ships go down or something

  • @Shetyre in Mass Effect 2 council will be alive, they can reinstate Shepard's Spectre Status and humanity will have better rep, also additional tasks will be available.

  • @CTPAX92

    true

and also what are those additional tasks

  • @Shetyre You lose a total of about 5 -6 ships saving them.. Soverign automatically kills like 5 so.. you lose more

  • I let those non believers die. After the crap they put me through I want willing to risk anything for em.

  • It's not that I wanted them dead. But we needed to focus on Sovereign, he/it was the treath. Even if It was earth at the brink of destruction, we must stop Sovereign from opening that gate. Nothing else Matters. I repeat, nothing else matters...

  • I choose to save my game and then see both endings, I picked the save the council in the end as the cutscene just looked cooler.

  • I picked this ending I didn't want to risk it that Soverign would survive without all of the Alliance ships attacking them

And also it goes with my philosophy The Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

Many being the galaxy and the council being the few

  • Ah yes, "Council". Three races in charge of Citadel, allegedly controlling the galaxy. I have dismissed that claim.

  • I think that we must save the council for the future because if you want in ME3, the help of the other concillians races, we must save the turians who have a big fleet, and look the E3 trailer of ME3 You can see that if we not help the other, we will have no help for the future

  • @thitest ".......there wount be an earth left to save"

  • Maybe if they'd listened to Shepherd for once...

  • wait wait wait. u get paragon points if u save the council and renegade points to let the council die right?

  • Council dug they own grave by scattering the citadel fleet trying to blockade every mass relay linking to the citadel. I wonder who came with that stupid idea Udina i think.

  • @SajuukBr : It's Just Politics ....

  • @TheAdrianus217 and it got em killed.

  • @TheAdrianus217 Awesome. Finally a political discussion on youtube that isn't about the real world.

  • @SajuukBr That's not what dug the councils grave. It was not listening to shepard. They didn't wanna believe what shepard had to say, so they got to reap the benefits of their ignorance. I let the council die when I played.

  • @SajuukBr The turian would be my first guess, but the salarian could do it too.

  • @SajuukBr I always choose to save the Ascension, the council owing me one is just a bonus. I think that ship would be useful latter.

  • @SajuukBr I agree almost every report you gave to them ended with them telling you how your doing everything wrong and honestly it doesnt matter if you save them or let them die both human and the old council suck ass you might as well let the humans be in charge and not these human killing assholes

  • This is not a very tactically sound decision. First you let them destroy the most powerful and advanced warship in the Citadel fleet and then you attack Sovereign head on, allowing the Geth fleet to rape you from behind.

  • @S0ndor meh. Destiny Ascension is just *one* of the dreadnoughts in the galaxy. The Alliance also has dreadnoughts. And carriers! Only the Alliance has carriers.

  • @pepoluan : Except " The Ascension" Is The Biggest Ship In The Entire Galaxy...

  • @TheAdrianus217

as joker once sad "size isnt everything..you need to have firepower to" ascension didnt really prowe her self during the battle

  • @JetAge96 We Did Not Even See It Fire One Shot

  • @TheAdrianus217

    true

  • @JetAge96

That's because it was under orders from idiots. However it would be a powerful ship in the right armada with the right person giving it orders. Like say, Shepard being in command and it being alongside Normady, the Shadow Broker ship, and all the various races Shepard will presumably get in ME3. As well as possibly homebase being the Collector Base.

The council are useless if you help them but the real boon of saving them might end up the Destiny Acension itself.

  • @S0ndor Not really. The Ascension's explosion took out the Geth ships attacking it. And it's guns were totally useless and destroyed by the time the humans got there. The Ascension was a gigantic garbage scow that was better off exploding like a giant bomb than it is as a warship.

Vader's Executor on the other hand, however........

  • @HolyknightVader999 watch?v=HlLS5w_DQGc&feature=player_detailpage#t=123s

Scow? Nah she's still got some BWAAAHHH left in her. Her point defenses are just down and shields are low.

  • LOLZ plus fifty thousand renegade.

  • Why the hell at 0:40 the entire Arcturus Fleet is made of 5 cruisers + Normandy? Lol

  • @Yahilles I think if you listen closely while they show them in the backround you can still hear them jumping in. And on the wiki they say that admirals tend to jump their fleets through the relay in task groups, as the more mass sent the more the drift they get, meaning they get sent off target. And plus, the citadel is getting raped, i wouldn't send all my fleet in one giant pack to get raped like them. =P

  • If it was just the turian councilor on board that ship I would'nt feel so bad watching this.....I know I can't be the only one who feels the same way.

  • @revenist yeah i agree which is why ialways save the council =p

  • @revenist

Yeah... lol that guy was a duche.

  • @revenist I don't feel bad at all. The Asair and Salarian are just as stupid, they just aren't douchey about it. They all can die and I don't care... mainly because they're fictional.

  • @commandershadebetter I don't have as much of a problem with the other two council members as much as I do with the turian one mainly because of the simple fact that while yes their all are indeed douchey at the end of the day but the turian guy adds a big ole' F*** YOU with his epic douchness that we all know and love.

  • @revenist

i feel bad about 10 000 lifes inside the acension

  • aww now who will i cut off in the middle of communicating with them :P

  • The council deserved to die.

They left millions of people stuck inside the citadel and expected humanity to save them instead of focusing on the worst threat ever faced to the modern galaxy civilisation.

  • @Spartan117FS The council may have deserved to die, but the 10,000 innocents aboard the Ascension didn't. Especially since "only" 2,400 Alliance soldiers die if you choose to save the 10,000 aboard the Ascension. Humanity had it extremely easy compared to the Citadel fleet in this battle, since regardless of whether or not you save the Ascension, 6,000 Turians die during the initial attack.

  • @wo1g

So your saying that it's okay to let millions of people die in the citadel over the 10.thousand people on the ascension?

  • @Spartan117FS Except that isn't what would happen. It is more tactically sound to take out the geth fleet, save the Ascension, then deal with Sovereign. If you just go charging in, you have the entire geth fleet ready to shoot you from behind. Just ignoring the geth and the Ascension and going straight after Sovereign is idiotic from a tactical viewpoint. However you look at it, saving the Ascension is the smarter option, for both long and short term.

  • @wo1g That or the Ascension's explosion took care of the Geth fleet. It WAS a massive ship.

  • @Spartan117FS

Actually, most civilians were evacuated from the Citadel. Mos of the bodies were C-Sec officers who died trying to get those citizens to safety, of course, there was minor civilian casualties.

  • How sad. :X

  • @TeshnosFire

    Play ME2 with alive Council.

Tell me gain is it sad.

  • @TeshnosFire Who is this person saying its sad that the council died? Me?! 0.O I can only imagine I was saying this as sarcasm, for this wasn't sad, this was the most awesome scene ever.
