Yogi Berra Lou Pinella Bucky Dent Billy Martin Dallas Green Dick Hauser Bill Verden Billy Martin Stump Merill Billy Martin Bob Lemon Billy Martin Gene Michael Buck Showalter Joe Torre Joe Girardi?
god so glad that this dumbfuck scam artist owner died last year. Good riddance you arrogant bitch. Rot in hell steinbrenner have fun with that corn cob up your ass!
I love this scene. Right now the Orioles are considering Buck Showalter as GM and he was fired from the Yankees after building the dynasty they have for Joe Torre. This scene is so timely and timeless knowing how insane Steinberenner is/was.
@mbittenbender YOU ARE SO CORRECT. Showalter along with Gene Michael, built the dynasty which fell on Joe Torre's lap. He's also a stand-up guy who refused another contract from Steinbrenner and his fellow "baseball ignorant" cronies, if it included firing 4 of his coaches...... In the early 90's, Steinbrenner wanted to trade a shy, nervous rookie pitcher. Showalter talked him out of it, insisting "THIS KID CAN PITCH". The kid's name?..............MARIANO RIVERA
@drzfynest65 ...Yes, Steinbrenner (may he now Rest In Peace), did not think Rivera had the "make-up" to be a big leaguer, (on the Yankees anyway) because at that time, he was so shy and quiet. Showalter, with a sharp eye for talent, saw that Rivera was big league material. I think it was obvious that in 1996 when Rivera was the set-up man for John Wettland, he had BETTER STUFF than Wettland.. Its been said that Steinbrenner wanted to trade BERNIE WILLIAMS.....But THAT one I'm not sure of.
It is interesting Steinbrenner says that he had fired Buck Showalter in this episode, but Showalter was fired in real life shortly after this episode.
@night524 Showalter is and always will be 20 times the coach Torre was. Torre inherited a great team that McLwain scouted and drafted and Showlater modeled into a champion.
@BumJuiceDrinker the personal animosity between Showalter and team owner George Steinbrenner, along with the fallout of the strike, led to him leaving the Yankees. He wasn't fired, he just left
@BumJuiceDrinker Buck Showalter was the manager of the Yankees from 1992 to 1995, after Stump Merrill was fired after the 1995 season. Though the Yankees made the playoffs in 1995,Showalter was replaced as manager by Joe Torre when the Yankees lost the Division Series to the Seattle Mariners, 3 games to 2, after winning the first 2 games. Showalter managed the Arizona Diamondbacks, was a broadcaster for ESPN, and is currently the manager of the Baltimore Orioles.

Hey, what about us? - Sincerely, Clyde King, Gene Michael second stint, Bob Lemon second stint, Lou Piniella second stint, Ralph Houk.
Now before you all scream that he said Michael, Lemon, and Piniella - note they were all fired twice, so he could have said their names twice.
