I love this song! I used to not be able to tell apart the vocals between Minx and Rapture (I knew they were the same person and even though people say they have two distinctive sounds, I couldn't tell that). I listened really closely to this song's sound and now I can tell. Rapture has a higher pitched sound and Minx's voice is more lower and elegant sounding. Both are pretty, and it's really cool that Vicki Sue Robinson did both of them.
Shame that The Stingers only got 9 episodes... they were the best band. All of the group members had their own assigned singing voices, and all of them were fantastic. The Holograms and The Misfits had too many shared voices asked to do too much - Pizzazz also did Roxy's voice, and backing vocals for BOTH bands. Even when Kimber and Stormer had their own song, they had the same (admittedly great) voice. Plus, The Stingers' sound is so smooth and catchy... entrancing.

@MultiGaryProductions Riot basically kidnapped gem, hung out on an island with her waiting for stockholm syndrome to kick in, no one could contact her and no one was smart enough to use synergy to contact her through the earrings or even track her like they did when the misfits kidnapped her and tried to use actors posing as her band to get her to reveal her secret identity. they also broke the 4th wall.

Honestly given how quickly and easily the Stingers were delt with, it almost makes this song a bit too epic for how much of a pushover they ended up being.
This song would be perfect for a nearly unstoppable manipulator.

@theallseeingoracle I know! I've noticed that myself! ;- ) I think a song is "structured" and you can learn the accent by heart, while a real life conversation is more "improvised" which makes it harder to hide your accent. That's my theory anyway! :- )

Because animators are LAZY! Compare "Spongebob" to this and you'll see just how crappy today's cartoons are!! This is in the style of the early "Filmation" cartoons - He-Man, Flash Gordon, She-Ra, Tarzan...now THAT was animation!

The Stinger were more R & Bish sounding. They kind of sound like The Jets. For those of you that don't remember the Jets the wre that singing group composed of siblings (5 brothers & 3 sisters) from the Pacific Islands, I believe they were Somoan(Correct me if I'm wrong) they had such hits as Crush On You, Rock it to You & Private Number & they also sung the theme song to Chip & Dale Ruscue Rangers. Look them up on youtube & compare to the Stingers. Pretty similar sound.
There's an "inside" joke on this song...the line "all the plans and schemes are more than Fantasy" is a nod to Rapture's original name of "Fantasy" (as told in the Jem Bible). This isn't the first time this happens, either. Notice in the video, when that line is sang, Rapture has the spotlight. (.40)
I never realize how good the Stingers sound. I know a lot of my friends actually preferred the Misfits songs over The Holograms because they felt it was more edgey but I don't think the Stingers got they're due props because their music sounds like something you can really dance to. I actually wish that these had been recored into real full lenghth songs

I really do love the way all three of the Stingers' singing voice performers blend so well together in harmony - it really does give me chills. Their sound is so sultry and sophisticated.

The first group on the show to have CDs (check out the video for "All in the Style"), the first band with a male lead singer, the first band to rotate lead singers (notice Rapture was lead here with Riot and Minx as back-up) and the first band to be given half the company to sign them! The Stingers RULE!

They changed up who sang lead (Rapture had lead on "Destiny"). * Jem was more than just a cartoon show - they dealt with pretty heavy issues - rememeber - Minx tried to kill herself, Laura tried drugs, some of the Starlight girls ran away, Pizzazz had father-issues, Jerrica and Kimber lost both parents - pretty heavy for "a cartoon show". Good stuff there!
That's right I totally 4got about Minx getting ready to jump from that building!!! Back then I didn't know what sucide was so I didn't understand why she on the roof. My goodness this was a pretty dramatic cartoon but i think the creator wanted to tell people about these issuse without sugar coating them yet at the same time she didn't want to scare the child audience from hearing the message. I wonder if they remade Jem today what kind of issuse would she try 2 tackle?
If they remade it I'm sure it would be a disaster because today, moms all over the world has issues against cartoons that tackles these kind of stuff. For instance, here in sweden, they cancelled Darkwing Duck because some stupid kids had seen him jump from a roof or something and wanted to do the same.
....An episode of Sailor Moon got cancelled because it was about dieting, they didn't even care that the episode actually exlplained that it's not good to stop eating and go exercise. I even heard a parent complain about an episode of Totally Spies in where Clover didn't want a Medium Hat, she wanted a Small one...she didn't care about the message the episode was giving (the parent I mean) that it's okay with a bigger size, which Clover did realize in the end...
Did Gordon Grody ever record any albums? If not he should have cause I think he would made it big. In fact him & Vicki Sue Robinson should have recorded a album together since the sounded so great as the Stingers
