Still have the cats on it? Im thinking about putting some 18" glasspacks on my '04 CVPI, I want it to have a rumble but not be stupid loud, would like it too still pass as stock at idle.
yeah man sounds nice!!!i think all ford 4.6L sohc 281 engines sound perfect with glasspacks ...i had them on a 96 gt years ago and with stock cats on it roared pretty mean..
@challengerdodge I picked up the Marauder tips locally. The guy changed his out for wider diameter tips. There really was no loud drone on the highway.. In fact there were plenty of times that I turned the music off just to listen to how awesome the glasspacks sounded.. If I ever get another Crown Vic the packs will be a must... As it is now I'm seriously thinking about putting them on my Marauder....
@MauserMatt Alright thanks for the reply I'm not so worried about the drone. I like cherry bombs plus there alot cheaper then magnaflows anyways either way sounds great nice vic btw I have a 1999 p71

Yep, everything is original except the glasspacks and the Marauder tail pipes.. All 4 cats are there. I should have cut 2 out.. But I like how it turned out...
shitttt im confused now! first i heard (from a CV owner) that cherrybombs only last like a month so i don't kno what to do cause u guys r saying that the cherrybombs r good. i'm not really interested in Flowmasters but i am interested in Magnaflows. my question is can i buy the tips or do i have to buy the complete set??? i have a 1998 CV PI.
Oh you can buy just the tips. All I did was buy the tips, brought them over to a muffler shop and told them I wanted glasspacks. $160 later this video is the end result.... I think they sound better than Flowmasters for sure.
MauserMatt i've been searching for the Marauder tips for 2 days now and can't find any. is there a website or a shop u can recommend? i need those a.s.a.p thanks in advance.
hey bro, besides flowmster and mangaflow, are "BULLETS" good? I'm thinking about installing the "bullets" on my crown vic instead of the glasspack, flowmaster, and magnaflow. I want my car to hum like those SuperSport type sounds.... Let me know your opinion...
Umm.. Drone.. Like a droning noise.. As the dictionary says:
"to make a sustained deep murmuring, humming, or buzzing sound"
Some loud exhaust is great for letting people hear it around town.. But when you're actually driving it on the highway for sustained periods of time.. it can be very loud and obnoxious...
hey matt, thanks for your explanation of what a glasspack is. Now, where can i get some glasspack for my crown vic? Can i go to any autopart stores and just ask for one or is there more to it? Let me know, thanks...
No problem man. What I did was called a few muffler shops and asked if they could put glasspacks on my Vic. Two of them asked "Why would you want to do that to a POS Vic?" So I hung up on em. The last place said "Sure! It should sound good on it!" I really don't know which kind they put in, though I'm pretty sure it was the cherry bombs thoughas like BadAssCamaro said, they're the most popular.. Do it dude! It will sound great!!
Hey thanks Matt. Appreciate the infos. I hate to ask lots of questions but i'm new, so what is a "POS" Vic and why did you hung up on them? It made me think it could be illegal of some sort? I want to modify my Vic but i don't want to do anything illegal and have my rear end in jail bro. Are there anything else i should know before I go and install glasspack on my Vic? Let me know..
Glasspacks are a type of exhaust that have been around for a long time. They're about 18" long and used to have fiberglass innards. Over time the fiberglass would burn out and your exhaust would get louder. Some people liked that. Newer ones today are made of different material and last as long as any other exhaust does. They just give a deeper and slightly louder sound. Since I sold the CV I'm thinking out putting them on my 03 Marauder..
This is just my personal experience, but to me the glasspacks are not as loud when the car is idling. BUT while it's idling it's giving you a really nice growl. They get loud when you step on the gas! Plus I never got a really bad drone while on the highway like I hear some Flowmasters do... I'm just glad I went with the glasspacks instead of anything else.. They were great!
Where do you hook up the glasspack ?? more toward the middle of the car or more towards the back or right by the end of the exhaust like where the regular muffler would be ?? i would like it to pop just like this crown vic .
i dont know why but the mustang 4.6L always sounds so much better its probably the dual cams or the h-pipe most peole have but if anybody knows how to get my 4.6L t-bird to sound like them 4.6L mustangs PLEASE lemme know!
Crown Vics (Since '92) have only been produced with the SOHC 4.6L. Putting out between 200-225hp. (Depending on yr)
The Mustang GTs had the same SOHC 16 valve 4.6L (Plus headers, different computer tuning, etc. over the CV, giving it 215-250+hp) up until the new body change in 2005, SOHC but they have 3 valves/cyl, making it 24 valve.
ok i thought after 2000 somethign they changed over to dohc engines. i actually just picked up some glass pakcs for my tbird its got the 4.6. my question for you is did you lose a lot of back pressure?
wow that DOES sound good. the 4.6s do sound good with pretty much any exhuast. i have a 4.6L t-bird lx and i cut the mufflers and resonator off i love the wide open sound it get from it and without the resonator it pops like crazy!
Yeah, and be like EVERYONE else in the world?? I have seen flowmasters go from 70 to 150$ depending on where you go. Glasspacks are about $19. I had 40series flows on my ranger... they where SHIT. They where so heavy they
Constantly broke hangers (8 to be exact). Then finally the weld on the outlet side of the muffler broke (I mean the seam for the entire back plate)... all in less than 2 years... there goes $350 dollars. Be original do something someone else isn't
Hey Sulaco...I've noticed that whenever you comment on anyone's crown vic videos, you list the full model name and VIN code. Just wondering what the point of doing that is...I mean oviously the owners know, so its not really necessary...unless you like letting everyone else know that you know what the VIN numbers mean ;)
No harm intended, just curious as to why you've been doing that.

Can you tell me the exact inlet/outlet and length and body size? Wanna have some of those on my 02 CVPI.
n00B1eeh 6 months ago
@superman88strong: Take a garden hose (with the car off) and spray water into your exhaust while it's warm, then drive the car.
I dont want to hear anyone say it'll rust your exhaust because an engine produces 1 gallon of water per gallon of gas it burns.

But, does it sound hella loud inside of the car, like at high speeds on the freeway?
dryan2 3 years ago
Nope. Only when I stepped on it did it get loud. There was no drone. Just slightly louder than stock at normal highway speeds. And I mean slightly.

The Mustang GT's have SOHC 4.6L's (if I'm not mistaken only the Cobra's and Lincoln Mk VII have the DOHC 4.6L)
But the Mustangs do have factory headers, different computer chips, and '99+ 4.6's have the P.I. (Performance Improved) Heads.
saosurvive126 3 years ago
the i think 2003 and belows had the 4.6 same engine in my tbird but the newer ones after 03 i think are all dohc
TSHRTL 3 years ago
Are you talking about mustangs or Crown Vics?
Either way they had the same SOHC 4.6L.
