The author's musical intelligence and sensitivity to the messages found at Sapanta, as expression of the pastoral Romanian culture, created an hymn dedicated to mothers and motherhood! Rita Connolly's voice is exceptional as was in the concert as well. Congratulations for this success!
What a beautiful song! The Romanian folklore has roots in ancient times. Great Romanians like George Enescu (music composer) and Constantin Brancusi were inspired by it. I am grateful that I have been born in this beautiful culture.
She sing in romanian The song of Stan Ileana - Mother. "Here I rest, Stan Ileana is my name. I lived 38 years in this world, During my life I gave birth to six little girls. They grew up without their mama, and full of pity I was for them. The smallest one I held in my arms My six daughters have grown up without me, as orphans. When I left this life the youngest was just a baby. In my arms I held her. In my arms I held her."
Shaun and Rita are the best. Unfortunately only people with the taste for the contemporary classical music are able to value their creativity, it's too free of stereotypes.
I sang in the romanian choir in this project at St. Patrik's Cathedral and'll like to say that is was wonderfull. in this romanian song, Rita is singing an epitaph from merry cemetery about a young woman who died very young
Agreed to richardhalo there ....losing the common sense of tradition and simple beauty is, and has been happening in Ro. for some time now...it is realistically ...sad!
It took me a couple of minutes to realise she was singing in Roamanian. At first i thought it was as Gaeilge and I was trying to understand it... very good rendition of Romanian, I must say, go raibh maith agaibh !
amazing ... only heard of this place recently.. hope to visit that cemetery someday. great voices and great tombstones and stories of the occupants beneath
