You want to know how to buy a computer? Go to a goddamn store and open the box to make sure it isn't full of bricks. People who buy computers online are dumbasses.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. That's one of the great things about the internet, and information age in general; that we can share our knowledge with anyone in the world, anywhere, anytime, and quickly - as fast as it takes me to type this comment. I will keep your advice in mind for my next computer, or if I find someone else wanting a new one.
This video is a great help, especially for me as I know very little about purchasing a computer. A computer is big investment and the info I've gathered off of your video will get me started in the right direction. I too appreciate the resource information.
Cool video! Thanks for the additional resources. I will definitely be making a thorough check when I'm shopping for my next computer. This vid is very helpful - thanks!
Interesting vid. Thanks for the info on resources that can be used to check out companies before making a purchase.
The raw number of complaints is not the best way to measure a company's customer service, but is that really how BBB assigns grades? Listing the raw numbers does not mean grades are only based on them.
I find it weird that frekijsimpson doesn't claim to work for BBB until their 3rd comment.
Sounds like great advice and I will consider these points when I buy again.
The BBB has existed since 1912. It is extremely credible. I agree that various other third party rating sites give a good sanity-check cross-reference.
Dell has always treated me with 100% perfection. I have only ever owned Dell and have never had a problem... then again, I'm not an idiot like most people - lol
I'm didn't create this to say that Dell's no good ... I just want people to be aware that MOST people are NOT happy with most of the big-name computer companies out there. Also, the point is - do your research before you purchase - you'll be much happier in the end.
but you're guiding people to the internet for advice.. very wrong!!! never believe company or product comments..!!!! most people only comment when they have a grudge.
you said something about Dell having 1 complaint per day on some site? ..seeing how Dell has over 180 million computers in the world operating today, 365 complaints per year is nothing.
I always tell people, if you want advice, ask someone you trust, who isn't an idiot!!
I don't know why you think this info you're getting is accurate. I work for the BBB and it's a lot of smoke and mirrors.. such as reviews and comments.. not to mention public relations efforts being a sham.

You're welcome. I enjoy making videos / sharing info, and if people like it, fine. If they don't, that's fine too.

I don't suppose these sites are the "end all" for checking companies out. But they can't hurt.

Perhaps they really work for DELL ;)
Some companies had to serve as an example.

I have to say, frekijsimpson's poor sentence, misquoting, name calling, causes me to take his loud comments with a huge grain of salt.

The BBB uses a number of factors in assigning their grade ... were the complaints resolved? Has the company been sued?

resellerratings requires evaluators to provide an invoice number before they can review a company. Most evaluations are not fraudulent.
The Better Business Bureau posts hard data from consumers. You'd be hard pressed to say that's fraudulent info.
I didn't say Dell gets a complaint a day, I said Alienware has about one complaint a day.
It's FALSE to say people only comment when they have a grudge. Start checking companies out. Some have 100's of reviews with awesome lifetime scores.
