Read my original post people, and calm down. Is there something wrong with observing that a comment that Slaughter was "England's only horror star of the 30's" is incorrect. There will be people who read that who are indeed misled. There is nothing sarcastic or smart about pointing this out.
checked wiki. yes, BK was english but moved to canada around 1909. began horror flick career in US and it looks like he did maybe just one horror flick in england after beginning them in US (bio on wiki). so just by the numbers, i'd say tod was IT in jolly ol'.
ummm I think the guy was referring to the fact that Slaughter was not only English but working only in English cinema, not doing the vast majority in the states...why do people on here have to be sarcastic smart arses, would it have killed you to thank the guy for posting this Slaughter item, sheeesh.
It is remotely possible that that is what he was thinking- but he didn't say it, and in fact he was pretty clear in what he wrote. I wasn't being smart, just commenting on what seems an obvious oversight. No need to be offensive and personal.
Look I know this guy personally, he used to post a lot of old horror stuff on here under a different name and hes quite the expert. He is more then aware of Karloff and his ENGLISHNESS. Stop playing the "personal" "offensive" card also, just stop being a smartarse and enjoy the vids.
Its sort of an advert for a very old British horror film called Sweeny Todd starring the actor Tod Slaughter. Pathe was a news reel shown in cinemas as part of the program...it showed world events, sporting news etc and bits like this were specially recorded by film companies to promote forthcoming releases.

Has anyone noticed the decided resemblance between Michael Palin (Monty Python) and Tod Slaughter? Especially in the Python skit where Michael plays a murderous demon barber. I've been trying to find out if Michael is related to Tod.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who caught the similarity in that sketch! I must say though, I would rather be shaved by Palin than Tod Slaughter. On the other hand both Palin and Depp are easier of the eyes in my opinion.
