Hmm not that different, others are Finntrol, ensiferum, korpiklaani etc. Lots of finnish bands are like them, just Turisas get the most publicity in the UK. Still a great band though

It is more or less Viking Metal or Pagan Metal, which depending on who you talk to, can mean in range of things. In the case of Turisas, it is a mixture of Viking metal with elements of symphonic black metal and medieval power metal with a good dash of traditional Finnish folk music. They are actually really unique because nobody sounds like them.

It is part of what makes the Viking/Pagan metal genre so rich. There are so many good bands and save for black metal, none of them sound alike.
